The Eucharist is a celebration of God’s gift of new life to us and to the world. Here bread and wine are shared, to remind us that it is Jesus who brings us together with God and each other.

If you are new here at Holy Trinity, it may be a bit confusing. Please don’t worry if you can’t follow everything that is going on; it takes a few weeks to become familiar with any pattern of worship. We hope this booklet will help.

In this present Covid situation we are limited in numbers in the church, hand sanitiser needs to be used, contact details are required by the Government and we are asked to keep a 2 metre gap between people.

As you go forward for a Communion, walk to the back of the church and then down the centre aisle; it will be given in one kind only, dropped in your hand by the priest. Please return straight to your seat.

The Gathering

Leader: In the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. All: Amen. Leader: The Lord be with you All: And also with you.

Prayers of Penitence We remain standing for our prayers of penitence: Hear the words of comfort our Saviour Christ says: Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

My brothers and sisters, as we prepare to celebrate the presence of Christ in word and sacrament, let us call to mind and confess our sins.

Most merciful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we confess that we have sinned in thought, word and deed. We have not loved you with our whole heart. We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us to amend what we are, and direct what we shall be; that we may do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with you, our God. Amen.

Gloria in Excelsis We say: Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on earth.

Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord, God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen

The Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Prayers of Intercession These responses may be used at the end of each section Lord in your mercy or Lord hear us, Hear our Prayer Lord graciously hear us

And at the end: Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died: Christ is risen: Christ will come again.

The Lord’s Prayer As our Saviour taught us, so we pray Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread The presiding priest breaks the consecrated bread. We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.

If you are new and are looking for a church to be part of which will nourish you on your spiritual journey then we would be delighted if you felt that Holy Trinity was the place for you. If so, please do make yourself known to a churchwarden (they wear blue badges) or a welcomer (they wear red badges) so we can let you know about all that goes on here. If not, we wish you well and God’s blessing, and would be happy to tell you of other Christian fellowships that meet in the area.
