Quite a day!

One of the largest entries seen at Holsworthy Machinery sale saw a massive crowd and topped at £20,200 for the New Holland tractor in from Anthony Eames being sold to Messrs Harris of Cornwall. Rundle Weldhen of Newquay saw his Hitachi digger sell to £13,500 going off to Shaftsbury whilst the Kubota tracked post driver powered away to £9,800 with the Sanderson teleporter hitting £7,000.

Andy Cann sold a very smart line up of machinery from his farm near Bideford which topped at £8,000 for his Bunning dung spreader going off to Exmoor and the Staines trailer at £6,700. Johnny & Mary Britton of Ashwater topped the grass harvesting equipment with their Lely turner at £6,600 with the Grassland sublift disc roller in from Geoff Pomeroy at £2,200.

24 trailers went under the hammer today and topped at £6,700 with Will Prouse selling his silage trailer at £3,800 going off to Exmoor and the best of the Ifor Williams 12’ livestock trailers at £1,950 for Roger Young.

Commercial vehicles in this section met a strong trade with the 2016 Citreon Relay LWB van reaching £6,500 on behalf of Messrs Hammett and the 2010 Toyota Hilux to £5,600 going off to Bideford.

Rural Excess travelled over from Wales to sell over 200 lots of new small tools reaching £130 for their best. Plenty of cattle equipment ranged from £400-£1,400 with 65 lots of sheep handling equipment from 2 dispersals reaching a top call of £470. A great day enjoyed by all who attended.

Battle of the Countys!

A big entry in this section today saw the dispersal of a log yard from St Neot top the day at

£8,900 for the County 1174 c/w log crane with the 2nd County at £7,200.

Messrs Pearce of St Dominick dispersed their equipment which included the Leyland 245 tractor reaching £4,000 plus the Twose hedge trimmer at £3,000 going off to Wiltshire. Messrs Plummer of Black Torrington saw his 1990 Landrover Defender hit £2,000.

The Zetor tractor from Cornwall hit £4,000 whilst the Kubota tractor from Ben Heywood hit £1,300 with the best of the trailers at £950 from Messrs West. Mr Pugh travelled up from Boscastle and topped his consignment at £900 for the dung spreader. Ride on mowers met a fantastic trade topping at £750 for the Kubota, Westwood at £640 and Snapper at £500.

A good trade seen for the 2nd hand cars hitting £1,000 for the 2003 Mitsubishi L200, £900 for the Lexus 220D, £650 for the 2004 Freelander and a spectacular £670 for the 2001 Ford Fiesta!

A really exciting day saw a big crowd follow from start to finish and achieving a 91% clearance.

Furniture one house clearance from holsworthy. Entered

102 PIGS & SHEEP – AUCTIONEER JAMES MORRISH

A nice entry of 102 pigs today helping make a total of 301 pigs sold by Kivells this week.

Top call today was a very respectable £225 for the pick of a quality consignment of sows from Messrs Andrews of Truro with others at £198 and £188 from the same farm. Messrs Emmett of Portscatho also hit £188 whilst the best Oxford sows hit £180 for Sonia Blackmore of Plymouth.

Store pigs topped at £58 for Peter Jones of Winkleigh with the best, very young weaners to £48 on behalf of Richard Haste.

Just a few sheep forward today saw the best Jacob couples to £110.

286 POULTRY – AUCTIONEERS TIM KIVELL A very useful entry sold to a varied trade with the auctioneer commenting

“a good trade if they liked them”. Top call was £59 for a trio of ducks in from MA Warring whilst Terry Wills reached £32 for Buff Orpington pullets and £28 given for a White Bantam hen. Messrs Birch sold their White turkey well at £30 with the regular line up of quality poultry from Messrs Boundy of Winkleigh hitting £26 for a pair of Miniature Silver apple yards.

217 FURNITURE – AUCTIONEER ANDREW VARNEY A useful line up of goods for our monthly furniture sale saw a top call of £65 for the Leather arm chair on behalf of Messrs Horn with a chaiselongue from the same good home at £45 and the dolls house at £32. A nice consignment from Copps removals included the Beko fridge at £60, Zanussi dishwasher at £52 and the Zanussi dryer at £50. Our very own Ivor Stoneham of Barnstaple saw his garden Penny Farthing hit £40 with the best rugs at £30 for Messrs Smith of Okehampton.

The Rt Revd Nick McKinnel visits Holsworthy Market!

Kivells we’re delighted to welcome the Bishop of Plymouth to Holsworthy Market for the first time today who did a splendid job of conducting the auction of the toy John Deere tractor which was kindly donated by Smallridges and reached £200 to Mike Smith for the Market Chaplaincy team. Also on the day, Mary Phillips conducted a bucket collection for Devon/Cornwall Air Ambluance and raised £100. David Kivell of Kivells said “We greatly value the great job that our Chaplaincy support team provide to our

farming customers and we will help whenever we can”
