" l don't like 'Ride. Ride, Ride' at all . The B side ls much better. I think she has a Cood voice, but is much better slngin1 bal· lads. Tilere's not much appeal about the words of R.R.R. It Is a poor number mainly because it is done In a style Brenda tried to leave behind nve years ago. It shows he r as Just an average artist. However , the record could make some impression on the charts, as the backing on both sides Is really excellent. almost exciting. What a pity the words of the songt. and her voice don't match. It"s been a while since Brenda has tried !or the charrs and this Is a Dad comeback . Her da)'s of ha,•ing a top hit are definitely over. This week we consider dry skin - its causes, effects and treatment.

This skin appears flak y; forehead and cheeks feel taut alter washing and the skin feels rough to the touch. If nothing ts done lo :i.lle-\'ia le this condition effects will show at quite an early age - f\ne l:nes develop on the !orehead, under and out-side the eyes, on the neck and around the mouth. These areas become lined fi rst be-cause or their natural sparseness o f moisture glands.

The cause of the dryness can be Crom one or more sources: faulty diet. soap left on the skin, or mcst pro-bably Jou or lack or suffi-cient natural moisrure. If your skin is dry II will dry out more as you mature. It must oe prottieteo at all times beca1;1't" of its sen-

It will need firstly, water cleansina. use borac1c in warm water and remove make-up with cotton wool. Then crea.m c1eanse with lubricating cream. Suggested is Ardens cleansing or Dor· oth)· Gr&)' Satura Moisture Lotion.

Tone with an alcohol free tonic. Try Yardle)' Skin Freshener o r Coty "V1tamel .. Skin Freshener. MBSliage with a good cream and leave on o,·emighl. Try Max Factor's Ory Skin Cream or Cyclax Moistura tor race and neck m.Jlsture replacement .

To discourage the tiny lines that form around the eyes try Ma;. Factor Eye Crea.m plus or Coty Wrinkle Cream which will help to fill in and fade the Jines about the eyes.

Make up must be protec• live. Max Factor has active moisturiser !or use under make-up to maintain mois-ture and oil balance of I.ht skin . His invisible Make-up Foundation doubles the pro-tectJoh under the Powder. Coty Instant Beauty Cream Foundation serves the same purpose. A light, non-drying powder comes next. Sug-gested is Helena Rubin-stein's Silk Face Powder. Lipsticks protect lips from dryness because or the oils in them : the new creamy one:. are best. Any tvpe eye make-up can be used with-out further drymi; or the skin.

    A DREAM IN FRUFFLES

ROY AND THE WALKERS Dear GOSET,

The object or this Je:ter is to try :o put Miss lJnda Anderson. or Ryde, N.e.w .. wise about Roy Orbison and The Walker Bros. No doubt. dear Miss Anderson, you ore very confused and somewhat biased about this subject. I have sot nothlnt against Roy Orbison: he has rot a pleasant voice, but against the deep melodious sound o! Scott Engel he Is left at the startlna: post.

Regard.in& the hit records, maybe Roy Orbison has had more, but how Joni has he been recording, compared with the lime the Walker Bros. have?

Finally, we co:ne to the point about hair. If you had Just bothered to look at t."le Walker Bros., you would have noticed that they have not got long hair. Ohl but I'm terribly sorry. 1 almost rorrot , of course you must think that people like M.a.lcolm McGee, The Twlllah.s and the Smail Faces have 1ot long hair. Well then I must airee with you that the Walker Bros. have too . I suppose that Roy Orbison only wears his hai r the way he does because It suits him best that way and I also suppose that ls why Gary's hair Is a little lon1er than Scott's and John's.

I hope that n ext time the Walker Broa. tour Auatralla they will be named u top ot the blll u they were surely the top act on the January tour.

    Janlae Cowie.
