“Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you, cleanse your hands, ye sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double- minded.” – James 4:8

God’s promises are from Genesis to Revelation – from Adam to the Apos-tles. After the fall, God promised that a Redeemer, Deliver, and Messiah would come. Four hundred years before it took place, God prom-ised that the Israelites would come forth out of Egypt (Genesis 50:24).• The promise was

that a Savior would die, rise again, and ascend into heaven (Luke 24:7).

• We have the promise that Jesus, God’s Son, is interceding for his children at this very moment (Romans 8:34).

• The promise is that Jesus Christ will come again and His coming is closer now than it’s ever been (John 14:3)!

• Until He comes, He has promised to supply all of our needs down here on earth (Philippians 4:19).

Today the promise is given that we can draw nigh to God and in turn, God will draw nigh to us. He invites His chosen people to come and dine. According to the scriptures, we have no excuse for God to be distant. At times, sin may be the cause of a distant feel-ing. Isaiah tells us that sin separates us from God and sin shuts the ear of God (Isaiah 59:2). On another occasion, Job tells us that he could not find God and in spite of not sensing Him anywhere close by, he chose to trust God (Job 13:15). It may be that if He seems far away, it is because we have failed to

appropriate our faith and draw nigh to Him. The promise is we shall find him if we search for Him with all of our heart (Jeremiah 29:13). It is interesting to note that there were boundaries and limits to

approaching God in the Old Testament. The commandment was given that the children of Israel could only come to the base of Mount Sinai. If they touched the mountain, they would die. Only Moses spoke to God face to face as a man speaketh to his friend. Only the High Priest could enter into the holiest court of all. In the New Testament, we find

that the only limit to approaching God is how far we are willing to go. We can come right into the Presence of God.

“. . . Christ in you, the hope of Glory!” – Colossians 1:27“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith . . .” –Ephesians 3:17

We cannot get any closer to God than Christ living in our hearts. We can commune around the mercy seat. The veil of the temple was rent and for the last two thousand plus years, the saints have been able to enter right into the Holy of Holies. In light of this, I would like to focus on the following promise:

“Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you, cleanse your hands ye sinners and purify your hearts ye double-minded.” – James 4:8

We can truly say that the above promise from God has been realized one more time! The 2017 Camp meeting season has now come to a close here in the Northeast. God has been faithful again and again!

For this we offer Him our Tribute of Praise! For the duration of eight conservative holiness camps (Brushton, Victory Grove, Pine Ridge, Adirondack, Pilgrim Youth Camp, Binghamton, Richland and Fox Hill), in holding approximately one hundred fifty ser-vices in a constant two month span from mid-June until the mid-August; God has kept his promise! ! When God’s people gather in His name, He

promises to meet with them. He always has . . . He always will – this year was no different!! The very thought – Camp Meeting. A place where man meets with his fellow man, where man meets with God, and where God meets with man. God has promised where His people gather together in His name, He will be there. We were blessed over and over again as we expe-rienced Spirit-anointed preaching and special singing. The Pilgrims have met again around the Mercy Seat. God hath raised us up to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. During times of collective prayer, the preaching of God’s Holy Word, lifting our voices in con-gregational singing, listening to special songs, enjoying rich fellowship with God’s people; Yes, our souls have been truly enriched and our hearts enlarged again and again. Praise God for His Great faithfulness! Not only does God promise to meet with His people but He promises to meet all their needs. We are a needy people. Sinners have unclean hands, but they are invited to draw near to God for cleansing. The father was as anxious to meet his prodigal son as the son was to come home. As souls confess with their mouth and believe in their heart, they are cleansed and forgiv-en. Some believers are still double-minded, but they are invited to draw near to God for purification. As believ-ers present their bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God which is their reasonable service, their hearts are made pure by faith. Then, along with everything else,

This month I would like to challenge us as Pilgrim Women to think of a few things you can share with your fellow readers for upcoming editions of the Pilgrim News. We as women need connected to other women and I would love to try something new like this for “our page” in the Pilgrim

News. I know that not everyone enjoys writing and

that is ok! You do not have to write a full article, but if you could take a few moments and e-mail me some of your “thoughts for sharing” I would appre-ciate it and I am sure others will too! If you have a thought on your heart then go ahead and send it, but if you need a “thought prompter…” then take one from below! I look forward to hearing from ALL of you ladies !

Email Heather at: [email protected]

From the Favorites• Pick a favorite verse to share and why it means so much• What is your favorite memory of faith, family, etc• Do you have a favorite recipe to share? (Including a picture would be great!)• What is your favorite season and why?

From the Heart• What has God been showing you recently in your walk with Him?• In what new ways have you been connecting to family and friends?• Is there a valley or struggle God has brought you through?• What do you wish someone would have told you as a young Christian?

On the lighter side• What do you do for relaxation and enjoyment?• Do you have a funny thought or memory to share?• What do you do to help others smile?• How do you keep “fun” in the mundane, daily chores of life?

Family Life• Do you have advice for a particular season of life? Single, newlyweds, motherhood, empty

nest, growing older, etc? • What brings you the most joy from your family?• How has family helped you grow?

there is the need for finances. As cost continue to rise, God continues to supply! When God meets with His people, the need of the soul is manifested. It is revealed. Revealed not to God (for God already knows all things for all of time), but the need is revealed to the individual – the need for conviction, correction, and comfort. The need to be re-lieved, renewed, and revived. The need to be exhorted, encouraged, and edified. The need to be melted, mold-ed, and made into the image of God. The need to not only be challenged, but the need to be changed! This truly is the reason for camp meeting.

• That we would meet with God,• God would meet with us; and• Our needs would be met – that we would be

made ready for heaven. At all of our camps again this year, souls knelt at an altar of prayer. Some were saved. Others were en-tirely sanctified. Some were comforted, encouraged and strengthened. If you are one that put forth the effort to attend and get involved in your local camp this year,

then you are likely a better Christian for it. If you are one that is of the opinion that you can take it or leave it, I pray God, this next year, will help you to see the value of preserving the spirit and environment of camp meeting. To the faithful: As you have returned back to your local churches, may your spirit be revived, your vision for the lost clearer, and your determination to make a difference where you are, be greater than it ever has been! When God meets with us anything is possible.

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abun-dantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” – Ephesians 3:20

May The Spirit of Camp Meeting abide with us all year long!!! Even though another Camp Meet-ing season has come to a close,REMEMBER: God still desires to meet with His people. This can happen every week collectively in your local church and every day on a personal level! Oh God, do a work in us that when anyone looks at us they will see Jesus!

One of the greatest promises in the Word is recorded in John 15:7:

“If ye abide in me, and my Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

One of the most precious assurances concerning prayer is found in II Chronicles 7:15:

“Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent to the prayer that is made in this place.”

I believe the greatest incentive to prayer is found in Ephesians 3:20-21:

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abun-dantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto Him be glory…”

Prayer – The Secret Weapon Prayer is one inseparable part of successful harvest:

“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.” – Psalms 126:5

We are to pray that the Lord of harvest will send forth laborers into the harvest (Matt. 9:38).

The challenge today is to practice the presence of God in the place of prayer. Read Ephesians 6:18-20 to discover that Paul needed the faithful prayers of the church:

• That he might know what to say (v. 19).• That he would have the courage to speak (v. 19).• That he would proclaim the mystery of the Gospel

(v. 19)• That he would do so even in prison (v. 20).

“Oh,” one would say, “You mean that invisible shroud that pervades the atmosphere, that irresistible, formidable area that surrounds the few who are called to a life of prayer?” No. This secret weapon is available to the youngest

Christians – to the immature as well as mature, to the established and those still struggling, to pastor and lay-men, the child and the senior citizen.

God is not asking for:

1. Better methods but better men!2. Better preachers but better prayers!3. Skillful players; but faithful prayers!4. Armor bearers, but armor wearers!5. Strategists who can out maneuver, but loyal

soldiers who get their orders on their knees in prayer!

God needs laborers who know and practice the art of soul intercession; who get on their knees and stay there until they have heard from heaven.

The July visit to St. Joseph was blessed with God’s protection on the waterways and His presence in the services. Bro. Mills’ vision for the future of this work is to train the local lay leader to take up the role of pastor at St. Joseph. The question was asked, “How do they know when you are coming?” Bro. Mills calls the radio station that he knows they listen to and asks them to an-nounce the date of their next visit. If they are listening at the time of the announcement, they will get the mes-sage, “We’re coming!” Some of the news in this bulletin will have been included in the camp meeting missionary services. For those in the Binghamton Camp Zone this news might still be ringing in your ears!! Thank the Lord that it has been possible to have live contact with the Mills in all four camps. Prayer is requested for Pastor Arilson’s daughter, Evelyn. She has recently chosen to leave home and has brought heartache and burden to the hearts of her par-ents. Please pray that as God places a hedge of prayer around her, she will respond to the tender calling of the Holy Spirit.

49 campers attended Summer Youth Camp. Praise God! Youth President Rev. Joel Byer and the youth committee once again produced a fun-filled, Christ- centered summertime experience that was seemingly well received by all in attendance. From the tense seesaw action in Bible Trivia, to navigating the obstacle course, to sweating it out on the playing field; there was ne’er a dull moment for any of us. There should be no doubt about the impact it had on young people present. The memories that were made will be treasured for a lifetime! This year’s theme, “Against the Flow,” was pre-sented excellently by featured speaker, Rev. Timothy Forsee. God used Bro. Forsee in a mighty way in the services. Especially, the Tuesday evening service wherein we witnessed a special outpouring of the Spirit as God utilized Bro. Forsee’s natural artistic talent to (quite literally) paint a vivid picture of Christ’s suffering and death on the cross. The fol-lowing sermon further impressed the message on our hearts until when the invitation was extended, the altar was quickly lined with young people seeking God. The Lord did not fail to hear the cries of the broken as He helped those seeking Him to forsake self and surrender to His plan for their lives. God is good!

The end-of-camp event that came much too soon was the awards banquet on Thursday evening. Final team scores were announced. Male and female Camper of the Year awards weregiven, and appreciation expressed. As most can imagine, tension mounted as campers waited to hear who won First Place. This year, Joe McMa-naman’s “Dolphins” clinched it in a classic close contest between 1st and 3rd places. Brandon Hallen-beck won Male Camper of the Year and Brittany Shumway won Female Camper of the year. This award is given to 1 boy and 1 girl who each displays, good sportsmanship, character, team spirit, and gives 110% of themselves in every activity. Finally, appreciation! One can never overstate the magnitude of planning and executing Youth Camp each year; and yet, everyone involved always does a superb job. On behalf of all Conference youth, “Thank you!” to Youth President Rev. Joel Byer, camp caretaker and family, youth commit-tee, camp cooks, umpires/referees, team captains, camp supervisor, and to any I may have neglected to mention. Please keep the next generation of Pilgrims in your prayers over the weeks and months ahead as we endeavor to go “Against the Flow.”

Bro. Mills reports that the City of God people have responded very generously to meet their part of the cost of their newly drilled well. As of the last report, they have only $200.00 remaining to be repaid to mission funds. Pastor Arilson and his wife testify to getting a renewed vision and burden for their people. The recent ministerial with Rev. Delbert Howard was a real blessing to them. Bro. Mills called for a work day on Aug. 8th to build a half-wall around the covered patio. It appears that some little girl needs an expanded area to roam without wandering too far away!! Bro. Mills asks for prayer as he uses the 10 Commandments in a series of messages to the Monte Pascoal congregation. Bro. and Sr. Mills have changed the phone number to be used by stateside callers to Brazil. The number is: 1-570-495-1924. Thank you for praying for and com-municating with our missionaries in Manaus, Brazil.

Bro. Don Mobley is in the States until the first part of September. While here he will attend the annu-al conference of the God’s Missionary Church, and do deputation with the local churches in the Conference. Plans are in the making for Bro. Mobley to meet with the missionary committee before he returns to Haiti. Our next visit to Haiti is scheduled for March 20-27, 2018. Felix and Bill Dawson, two of our young men re-cently graduated from the Bible College at Carrefour, have completed a 4 year ministerial degree program. This Bible College is a ministry of the God’s Missionary Church in Haiti. These two men graduated with the top honors in their class. Please pray that the Lord will clearly direct them in their future ministry with the Pil-grim Holiness Church of Haiti. Thank the Lord for dedicated pastors and the lead-

samanTha Lamphere says: Throughout Victory Grove Camp this year, there were many good times and many amazing memories were made. Whether it was catching up with old friends, playing fun activities, or enjoying God’s presence throughout all the services, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The wonder-ful preaching of Brother Harry Plank, Brother Paul Kaufman, and Brother Chad Snyder combined with the beautiful music ministry that was provided by the Fall Family and the Owens Family enabled us to be more open to God’s Word as well as His will. Victory Grove Camp is a place for folks of all ages because of the wonderful services that encouraged us to come closer to God and enjoy His love.

During camp there were many opportunities for teenagers and young adults to get involved. Between working in the dining hall (for two meals a day), playing various sports, going to CiCi’s pizza buffet or going on a hike, there was always an opportunity for young people to join in with some great Chris-tian fellowship. There were also many opportunities for youth to worship God and praise Him due to all the services we attended and the youth devotions we had each morning and night. During these devo-tions, we sang songs to glorify His Name and praise

Him for all the things that He has done in our lives – whether we thought it was for the good or the bad. Going to the services and devotions encouraged us to grow spiritually every day and trust in God’s plan. While camp was a great way to grow closer to each other, camp allowed us to draw even closer to God.

Another great part of camp was the fact that God moved through the camp and moved through us as we worshipped Him. God helped lead many people to the altar throughout several of the services and saved some people who had never been saved be-fore. He also brought back some Christians who had gone astray. The Lord encouraged us and renewed faith of those that may have lost hope (also, helped lift the spirits of those that had been discouraged). God showed us that He is an omniscient, omnipres-ent, and loving God. We do not have anything to fear as long as we live our life through Him and we truly love Him. The Lord performed many miracles throughout camp and made it extremely memorable.

Victory Grove Camp was a great way to draw closer to God and allowed us all to come and worship the Lord for all of the things He has given us in this life. Without camp, many people would not have had the opportunity to grow and allow the Lord to change them to become more like Him. I am so thankful that I serve a loving God, who continually works on me and is always giving me opportunities to grow and become the Christian He wants me to be!

ership team that keeps the message of Holiness ablaze in the Central Highlands of Haiti. The Lord help us to be faithful to ‘hold the ropes’ in prayer for our Haitian brethren and sisters in the Lord.

Rev. Dale Sherman plans to visit Winnipeg with Eric Himelick during the month of September. The pur-pose of this visit is to survey the work and its potential for a possible redirection of ministry. In the meantime, Raymond and Mena Kurten continue to hold Sunday services. They have agreed to continue their ministry

there as long as the need remains. The Lord knows the needy hearts that the Kurtens can bring into the King-dom. Let us keep praying that God will give direction to those responsible to keep the light of the Gospel shining in this needy city.

• Evelyn, Pastor Arilson’s daughter, her return to Christ• Bro. Mills’ focus ministry on Monte Pascoal• Felix and Bill Dawson – to discern the will of God for

their future ministry• Dale Sherman – direction for the Winnipeg ministry

Thank you for being faithful in prayer for the work of Con-ference missions!
