ENGLISH

1. Prepare a book review of the book-Oliver Twist.

It should contain the following:

(a)Cover page

(b)About the author

(c) Summary

(d)Character sketch (Any five)

(e)Humorous Incidents

(f)Ironical Incidents

(g)Conclusion

(Place it in a separate folder.)

2. Prepare a photo frame using any two proverbs along with pictures depicting the same.

3. Draft a poster inviting help for the earthquake victims of Nepal issued by Prime Minister‟s Relief

Fund on an A3 size sheet.

4. Writing Skills:

(i)Notice Writing:

A. Your school is planning to hold a „Tree Planting‟ day where the Municipal Commissioner of your

area will be the Chief Guest. As the head of the „Environment Club‟ you have been asked to put up a

notice informing students about the event. You are Ankit/Ankita, Write the notice in about 50 words.

B. You are Shivam/Swati , a student of St. Theresa School ,Pune. Your school is planning a „Charity

Show‟ for the benefit of the students of Blind School located in your area. Famous Cine actors will

perform at the function. As the Cultural Secretary of your school write a notice asking students to

volunteer for Prefect duties on the day of the show. The notice should be in not more than 50 words.

(ii)Message Writing:

A. Leela had been cleaning up her room as instructed by her mother who had gone out to do some

household shopping. While she was busy cleaning up she got a call from one of her mother‟s friend,

Mrs. Khanna. She called to inform her mother about the slight change in their plan of having a meeting

in the morning; instead they would now have the meeting in the evening at 5.30.After finishing her

work Leela has to go for her tuitions so she decided to leave a message for her mom. Write the

message in not more than 50 words.

B. Sevak is a helper at the office of Mr. Raman. He receives a telephone call from one of the clients

who wishes to meet Mr. Raman at 4 p.m. the next day. Since Mr. Raman is not in office, Sevak

decides to write a message for him informing him about the meeting. Write the message in about 50

words.

(Do it in your Practice notebook.)

5. Read chapters 1 to 3 of the book ‘The Tales of Oscar Wilde’.

1. In many parts of our country, use of polythene bags is legally banned. Find out the names

of all such places and also find out what replacements are being used by people.

Make a chart depicting various ways by which we can minimize the use of plastic with the

help of pictures.

2. Adolescence is the stage of confusion due to lot of changes in the body. At

the same time, it is very important for all of you to stay away from drugs as they

ruin health, career, mind and body. Make a poster on „‟Say No to Drugs to create

awareness about drug abuse.

3. Visit a building and other man- made structure in your neighbourhood and observe them

carefully gather and tabulate information for each as given in the following table.

Take 1 litre milk and 1 teaspoon unsweetened curd

Method:

Boil milk for about5 min and leave it to cool, when it is lukewarm. Stir in unsweetened curd and mix

well. Set aside overnight in a warm place.

Answer the following questions:

Explain your observation.

Why does milk need to be lukewarm?

What is the action taking place?

1. Make a well documented project on any one of the problems being faced by our country. Also include the efforts taken by Government to tackle it and the views of majority and minority in the form of Dialogues.
