USDF Membership Benefits: USDF is dedicated to education, the recognition of achievement, and promotion of dressage. For details on member benefits, including educational programs, awards, and other opportunities, refer to the USDF Member Guide or the USDF website at www.usdf.org.

Membership Requirements for USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized Competitions: Owners and riders, including foreign riders and owners who are not residents of the US, wishing to participate in a USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competition as a rider or owner/lessee, must have either a USDF Group Membership, Participating Membership (PM), or have a USDF Non-Member (NM) identification number and pay the USDF NM fee. (Note: USDF business members can own horses but cannot compete as riders with their USDF BM.) Individuals cannot compete at a USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competition with a USDF Education Membership.

Horses competing at USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competitions must have either a USDF Horse Identification (HID) number or a USDF Lifetime Horse Registration (LHR). Proper credentials or verification certificates must be presented to the competition secretary.

Riders and owners wishing to participate in a USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competition, and not able to present the competition secretary with verification of a USDF membership or NM identification, and USDF LHR or USDF HID, must complete a USDF Competition Affidavit Form and pay the $5 affidavit filing fee. A copy of a completed affidavit form from another competition may also be used for verification purposes for up to 60 days. (Exception: Affidavits cannot be used at Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Dressage Championships.) Exceptions:

Horses competing only in Individual Breed Classes (IBCs) at DSHB competitions, sires and dams of horses in DSHB group classes, where those sires or dams are not actually competing in the same competition, horses competing only in breed restricted dressage or DSHB classes at Regular Competitions (e.g. all Arabian, all Friesian, or all Morgan classes), or in USDF Introductory Level tests, pas de deux, quadrille, FEI Para-Equestrian classes, are exempt from this requirement. Also exempt are horses ridden in leadline, exhibitions, games and races, classes for 4-H members, walk-trot, academy and opportunity classes.

Riders and owners/lessees competing only in classes which are exempt from the USDF HID requirements are also exempt from the USDF NM identification number and NM fee requirements. Also exempt are handlers of horses competing in DSHB In-Hand or Group classes.

Memberships Defined Participating Membership (PM): A membership issued to an individual directly by USDF. The membership year is December 1 through November 30. PMs are available for 1-year ($75), 5-years ($300), or life ($1,500). A USDF Youth Participating Membership (YPM) is available for individuals who have not reached their 21st birthday by December 1 of the current membership year ($60). A PM allows the member to compete at USEF-licensed/USDF-recognized competitions and to participate as a rider and/or owner/lessee for all Adequan®/USDF Year-End Awards, Great American Insurance Group/USDF Breeders’ Championship Series Finals and the Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Dressage Championship program. Group Membership (GM): A membership issued to an individual by USDF when the member name and dues are submitted to USDF through an affiliate Group Member Organization (GMO). The GM year begins December 1 and ends November 30. A GM allows the member to compete at

RULES, REGULATIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY1. Dressage at El Sueno Equestrian is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book and will be conducted and judges in accordance therewith.2. Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competi-tions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.3. Every horse and pony entered for competition will be under the control of the horse Show Management, but the Horse Show Management will in no case be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Horse Show, it’s Directors, and Employees, El Sueno Equestrian, it’s Directors and Employees harmless for any loss or accident to his horse, horses or equipment which may occur from accident, sickness, fire or otherwise.4. Management reserves the right to arrange for additional judges and to cancel, combine or amend any class, including but not limited to class awards, scheduling and location. The Horse Show Management reserves to itself the right to refuse, accept conditionally, to cancel entries or disqualify riders without claim to damages. 5. Management reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of or incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered by these rules and regulations shall be decided by the Show Management and such determination shall be final.6. All Owners and exhibitors will be held responsible for any damage incurred by them, their agents, employees or animals to stalls, building and other properties on the show ground and shall be billed accordingly. Competitors are responsible for all insurance for themselves, employees, owners, horses, etc. Competitors are personally responsible for damages to third parties caused by themselves, their employees, agents or horses. 7. Parents or guardians of Minor Exhibitors shall hold El Sueno Equestrian harmless for injury to such minor. NO Child’s entry blank shall be accepted unless it is signed by a parent or guardian. The signature of instructors, agents or other unrelated persons will not be accepted.8. Current USEF, USDF and FEI tests will be used. All tests will be ridden in a 20 x 60 meter arena.9. OPPORTUNITY CLASSES: Opportunity classes are for entry level riders. Horses and riders competing in “Opportunity” classes are exempt from USEF and USDF membership requirements, and do not have to pay non-member or HID fee. Horses entered only in “Opportunity” classes are exempt from the Federation fees, including the Drugs & Medications fee. However, horses entered in these classes are still subject to and must comply with all Drugs & Medication rules and are subject to testing at this competition. Horse/riders will be allowed to cross-enter into other recognized classes at this show. However, please note, if a horse or rider enters other non-opportunity classes at this competition in which membership by participants is required, all USEF, USDF, DASC and CDS membership requirements apply for horse, rider, owner, trainer, etc. Scores earned in Dressage “Opportunity” classes may not be used towards USEF, USDF, CDS or DASC awards or programs.

ENTRIES – RIDE TIMES10. Entries will be accepted on a first-come basis and must include all fees, membership and horse registration proofs, signatures and payment. Numbers will not be released until this process is complete; entries without payment in full

may be returned. Entries that are received, complete with payment, signatures and proofs will have priority over faxed or emailed entries. Entries received by fax or email and accepted are considered to be legal contracts and are subject to all of the rules of the show, including late entry fees. If the show has extended the courtesy of accepting a late, faxed or emailed entry, the responsible party will be liable to pay all class, stable and other fees. Withdrawing at any time will not excuse the responsible party from paying all of the applicable fees. Those who do not comply with this will be turned in to the recognizing authorities and no future entries will be accepted until the matter has been resolved. USEF & USDF cards may be printed on one sheet of paper using the website www.eqverification.org. All incomplete entries may be charged a $10 internet fee to cover time and supplies to verify memberships.11. On-line entries will be accepted using www.eqentries.com. 12. Copies of all membership cards are required. To enter the Adult Amateur division, the USEF membership card MUST indicate Amateur status and the individual must have reached the age of 22 in the current year. JR/YR classes are open to riders under 21 years of age as of the previous year. Open classes are open to all. All incomplete entries will be charged a $10 internet fee to cover time and supplies to verify memberships. If you do not submit proof of Adult Amateur status, you will be entered in the Open division. If you request to switch to Adult Amateur classes after scheduling, all post entry and/or change fees will be applied.13. Late Entries: The closing date for all of the shows will be two weeks prior to the first day of the show. All entries must be POSTMARKED on or before the closing date or will be considered a late entry. Each late entry will be charged a late fee of $30.14. FEES: USEF Federation fee is $8, USEF Drug Fee is $8, Junior and Senior Non-members pay $30, USDF Non-members pay $25. CDS Travel Grant Fee is $3. CDFA Drug Fee is $5. DASC Championship Show Fee is $1. 15. Scratches: Exhibitors have the responsibility of informing the Show Office of their intention to scratch. Scratches before the closing date may be made for any reason and all fees will be refunded except the office fee. Scratches made after the Closing Date will have class fees refunded with a Veterinarian or Doctor’s certificate. No refunds of any fees for scratches made after the show starts. To scratch, email [email protected] or fax to (805) 386-8286. It must be in writing. 16. Checks returned by the bank will be assessed $25.00 or the bank fee (which ever is higher) upon the first return and will not be run a second time. A Cashier’s Check or cash will be needed to clear the entry.17. Classes will be scheduled to accommodate the judges, riders and management. Rider scheduling preferences, if noted on the entry form will be indulged when possible. The 50 minutes between rides rule will be observed for riders of multiple horses. Requests for specific break parameters and/or ride times will be considered, but not guaranteed. Classes will not necessarily be scheduled in order of difficulty.18. It is the purpose of the management to run the Horse Show at the highest possible level of Sportsmanship. The Management has used the utmost care to select judges with broad experience and knowledge. The judge’s decisions in the show ring are their own responsibility and the management accepts no responsibility for those decisions.19. Provisional ride times will be emailed to everyone who supplies an email address and will be available for dowload at www.dressagetimes.com and www.foxvillage.com. It is the responsibility of the rider to inform management of any time conflicts at least 24 hours before the scheduled rides. Any changes made to the schedule at the riders request, after the times have been published will be charged a $25 change fee. It is the riders responsibility to check the revised schedule which will be posted every evening at the show office.

STABLING – GROUNDS-MISCELLANEOUS 20. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES AND OWNERS MAY BE ASKED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF CURRENT RABIES VACCINATION.21. Participants agree that show management is merely providing stabling for the convenience of the participant and man-agement and sponsoring organizations shall have no responsibility whatsoever for any injury, loss, damage, etc. as a result of using said stabling. Owner/Agent/Participant assumes all care, custody and control with regard to this use.22. Limited permanent stabling, 12 x 12 or 12 x14, with doors are available on a first come first served basis at a cost of

EL SUENO EQUESTRIAN DRESSAGE SERIES CHAMPIONSHIPS

The El Sueno Dressage Series Championship will be open to horse/rider combinations who have achieved a qualifying score in at least two (2) El Sueno Equestrian Dressage Shows between December 2012 and July 14, 2013. Juniors and Adult Amateurs must achieve a score of at least 58% or higher in any Training through Fourth Level test and 56% in PSG, I2 or GP classes. Open Riders must achieve at least a 60% in any Training through Fourth Level Test and at least 58% in PSG, I2 or GP classes. The Championship classes are to be held at the Mid-Summer Dressage Show July 27-28, 2013 at El Sueno Equestrian in Somis in conjunction with the CDS Central Coast RAAC.

Qualified horse/rider combinations will compete at the highest test of the level in which they qualified. They will only be allowed to compete in one Championship Class regardless of the number of times they qualified. Riders will be required to ride the test from memory and will not be allowed to carry a whip.

$150 (Fri. - Sun.) with full service or $125 with no service. Stallions have priority in the permanent stalls. Portable stalls, 10 x 10, with doors are available at a cost of $125 for full service (Fri. - Sun) or $100 with no service. If entries permit tack stallls will be available at a cost of $125 in the permanent stall and $100 in the portable stalls. One (1) bag of shavings will be provided with each stall. You may bring your own shavings or shavings may be purchased at El Sueno for $10 per bale. Some feed will be available for purchase at market prices. Please call 818 269-2911 or email [email protected] to order. Exhibitor must pay feed and shavings bills before leaving the show grounds. Any exhibitor leaving the grounds with an unpaid balance will be billed these charges plus a $25 billing fee will be added to the total.23. Eurofelt/sand footing is used in the 20x60 M covered competition arena. Outdoor Nike Lightfoot/sand is used in the 20x60 M Outdoor competition arena. Outdoor Nike Airfoot/sand is used in the warm-up arena. Only horses entered in the show are permitted to use the warm-up arenas and the competition arenas. No one on foot will be permitted in the warm-up arenas. Lunging is to be done in designated areas ONLY. All arenas must be vacated when equipment is in use. Use of the warm-up arena is limited to those who are entered in the show and, at the discretion of the Show Management, will be restricted to those warming up for class(es) in progress when there is congestion.24. Ground fee of $35 per horse per day will be charged for each entry not stabling at El Sueno Equestrian. This fee applies to any horse brought onto the grounds, even if the horse remains near the horse trailer or is ridden or led onto the grounds.25. Bridle numbers must be worn at times when the horse is out of the stall. 26. NON-COMPETING HORSES: Each non-competing horse must have a signed release, wear an assigned number and must observe the rules governing the use of the warm-up areas and the show. He must pay $35 per day schooling fee, stabling/haul-in fees and an office fee. Any horse brought onto the grounds, including the parking lot is subject to the rules of the show and must be available for drug testing if selected. Any person riding a schooling horse must have a signed an official entry form and/or release. 27. DO NOT WASH HORSES IN BARN AREA. PLEASE USE THE DESIGNATED WASH RACKS28. SHARPS CONTAINERS: Competition management is responsible for placing Sharps containers in convenient loca-tions on Competition grounds and replacing them when full. Competition Management may fine any individual up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. Competition management will place notice of this requirement either in its prize list or on a specific handout given to trainers on check in at the competition. See GR1210.4 for complete details and please make sure the requirements for Sharps Containers are met at this competition.29. RIBBON AND AWARDS: In classes of 3 or more, riders will receive an award or prize, if less than 3, ribbons only will be given. Ribbons are awarded through 5th place. High-Point Ribbons will be given in each division (O, JR/YR, AA) for each show.30. FREESTYLES: In order to enter a freestyle class at any level, as horse/rider combination must have received a minimum score of 60% or higher in the highest test of the freestyle level or any test of a higher level at a previous USEF Recognized Competition. A photocopy of the test verifying eligibility must be submitted with the Freestyle Class entry. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to have the cued music to the announcer or show office before the start of the show. A sound check will be scheduled before the ride, please make arrangements at check-in. Exhibitors are responsible for retrieving their music after the class. 31. CANCELLATION: In the event of rain prior to the show, it is the competitor’s responsibility to call the show management to determine whether the show is cancelled. Shows are not cancelled due to rain unless footing is deemed unsafe. If the show is cancelled for any reason, a $35 per day office fee will be retained from each entry.32. Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

2012 Great American Insurance Group/ USDF Regional Dressage Championships

A single Regional Dressage Championship program organized by the United States Dressage Federation (USDF), and recognized by the United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (USEF), will be held in each of the nine USDF regions. In addition, Alaska and Hawaii may each hold state championships if an official request from a Group Member Organization (GMO) is received by April 1 of the prior year.
