OVERBURDEN - unconsolidated glacial till composed of clay, sand and rock
fragments - rock fragments primarily intrusive feldspar porphyry with some
granites, gneisses and mafic volcanics; all are well rounded.
INTERMEDIATE-MAFIC VOLCANIC (Massive Andesite) - fine grained, green to grey
unit within which chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite predominates - sulphides
account for less than 0.5Z of rock.
- between 2.7A and 7.93 ra. the unit is sheared indicated by numerous black
carbonate hairline fracture fillings, higher chlorite content, pronounced
schistosity and decrease in competency.
- between 7.93 and 16.92 m. the rock is not sheared; is more green than grey
in colour, is massive and comoetent: fracture zones are indicated at 13.87
and 14.32 bv the presence of a carbonate vein and ground core respectively.
- the sulphides - essentially the pyrrhotite would appear to reconcile the
magnetometer high measured at surface.
- the contact with the adjoining quartz porphyry units is gradational over

the last 15 cm. and then grades quickly into the next unit (over 2 cm.)
which is a quartz porphyry. The gradational nature is marked by increasing
number of quartz eyes in a mixture of mafic and felsic matrix material.
FELSIC VOLCANIC (Felsic Quartz Porphyry) - Rrey to clear quartz eyes set in
an aphanitic siliceous matrix, the unit is massive, competent and hard.
The quartz eyes range in size from 1 mm. to 3 mn. generally but get up to.
5 mm. in size. Density of quartz eyes is approximately 45* of unit.
- white carbonate veining is minimal .• •'••.v—"r\
- the lower contact (AS* to core axis) with the tefcnixng more mafic volcanic
unit is sharp and does not exhibit the gradational contact noted for the
upper contact. The significance of these contact relationships suggests
that Che quartz porphyry is extrusive (i.e. crystal tuff). The lack of
any contact alteration/silcification with adjoining units further supports
an extrusive as 01 posed to an intrusive origin of this and the other units
encountered lower in the hole.

TO DESCRI PTION
"stockwork" is composed of black quartz with a subordinate amount of
greyish carbonate, epidotization (olive green) is confined to the
"stockwork" sections. Sulphides present are pyrite, chalcopyrite and
pyrrhotite (total sulphides 0.52). Major "stockwork zones" and their
thicknesses are located at 120.40 m. (15 cm.). 129.23 m. (13 cm.),
J29-67 m. (15 cm.). 130.61 - 131.01 m. (40.64 cm.). 131.22 - 131.52 (30 cm.
and 432.5 (18 cm.). While these sections represent the major concentrationOl\
of black quartz numerous /astomizing fine-hairline and larger (upf to 2.5 cm
veins are located in this section. Unlike the shear zones notes in the
upper portions of the hole which are regularly parallel to stratigraphy
the "stockwork zone" represented in this section is at all angles to the
core axis from near parallel up to 90* from the core axis. The "stockwork"
zone is perhaps the oldest structural feature as it is cut by later greyish
carbonate fracture filling which are in-turn cut by white carbonate fractur
fillings. The white quartz veins noted above would appear to fit in the*
white carbonate time frame as determined from surface napping - this, .
however, va* not substantiated bv the drilling. /J./ t tf. /J /fl/1 J
