This promises to be a summer of exciting projects and a packed programme of events and activities!
We are delighted with the launch of the Number Five Cafe every Wednesday at the Hive in partnership with Shrewsbury Psychology Centre and Shropshire Mind. The drop-in cafe for young people aged 16 - 21 is designed to be a safe place to seek support and share experiences, with an opportunity to seek advice and support from psychologists and volunteers.
Look out for our Super Epic Hive Raffle on page 3! We are extremely grateful for the widespread support from local businesses and the community for the very generous prize donations. Grab yourself a ticket to be in with a chance of winning all 22 incredible prizes – in the knowledge that the proceeds are going towards the Hive’s work with children and young people. Every ticket bought will help us support young people in the local community.
The summer holiday workshop programme has a variety of exciting creative days to suit a variety of interests, including digital photography and animation days.
In addition to the venue programme the funded programme continues, our Youth Music activities, involving projects with looked after children, young carers and children and families from the Armed Forces communities in Shropshire - a further funded programme in partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant Fund.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you to the Hive over the summer months.

Having enjoyed Harrison’s last visit with Tommaso Starace, this eagerly sought return sees this pianist take centre stage. Performing his own compositions alongside empathetic re-inventions from the American Songbook anticipate “lucid, intelligent, …beautifully controlled explorations”. Jazzwise
We welcome the return of this wonderfully original saxophonist. Themen has built a major reputation by re-shaping numerous influences from Sonny Rollins to the present day. The popular Midlands based sidemen support.
Do you love the big band sound and want a lively and easy-going evening? This outfit brings together the area’s finest players with this versatile singer to showcase tunes from classic swing, bebop and jazz-funk.

The Hive is delighted to be working in partnership with British Red Cross to run the Creative Skills programme for young adult carers aged 16-25.
Within the programme young adult carers are building their confidence and developing employability and life-skills through innovative activities with professional artists and musicians at the Hive.
British Red Cross received Carers Social Action Support funding from Cabinet Office for this project, which also matches volunteers with young adult carers to give them a break from their caring role to take part in each 10 week programme.
