IntroductionThe Hitachi Storage Plug-in operates as a plug-in for the vSphere Web Clientand displays the configuration information of the Hitachi storage systems(VSP, HUS VM, VSP G1000, VSP G1500 , VSP F1500, VSP Gx00, or VSP Fx00)attached to the vSphere environment. There are two versions: vCenterServer (Windows version) and vCenter Server Appliance (vCenter ServerAppliance version).

• View Function

• Provision Datastore Function

• Delete Datastore Function

View function

The View function displays the storage system information registered in thestorage plug-in, the datastore on the ESXi host using the storage system, and virtual machine information.

The View function displays the following:

• The ESXi Host connected to the storage system and an LU available to theESXi Host.

• The storage system used with the datastore and virtual machines.

Creating a Datastore

The Provision Datastore function creates an LU that can be used as adatastore for a virtual machine file system (VMFS), a network file system(NFS) , or for Raw Device Mapping (RDM) by using a storage system thathas been registered in the storage plug-in.

Deleting a Datastore or LU

The Delete Datastore function is a one-step operation that removesdatastores or LUs from storage systems registered with the storage plug-in.It does not remove datastores or LUs that were created without using thestorage plug-in.

The Delete Datastore function is available in the following windows.

• Storage Devices list window (Delete Datastore icon)• Storage Devices list window (Actions menu)• Datastores list window (Actions menu)
