1936 2013

1936- The Z1, originally created by Konrad zuse was the first programmable computer

1937-the ABC started being developed by Professor john Vincent Atanasoff and graduate student Cliff Berry

1939- Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard founded HP 1941- The Bombe was created 1942- The ABC is completed1943- Relay lay computer is finished1944- Harvard Mark-1 is completed designed and

built by IBM1945- first computer bug found on a computer1946- IBM´s Selective Sequence Electronic

1952- Heinz Nixdorf founded Nixdorf Computer Corp1953-IBM shipped its first electronic computer1954- The IBM 650 magnetic drum calculator

established itself as the first mass-produced computer

1956- MIT researchers built the TX-0, the first general-purpose, programmable computer

1958- SAGE linked hundreds of radar stations in the United States and Canada in the first large-scale computer communications network

1959- IBM´s 7000 series mainframes were the company´s first transistorized computers

1965- England´s first commercial computer, the Lyons Electronic Office, solved clerical problems

1962- The LINC offered the first real time laboratory data processing

1964- CDC´s 6600 supercomputer, designed by Seymour Cray, performed up to 3 million instruction per second

1965- Commodore Business Machines (CBM) is founded

1965- Digital Equipment Corp. introduced the PDP-8, the first commercially successful minicomputer

1966- The Department of Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency helps build a large parallel processing computer, the ILLIAC IV

1968- The Apollo Guidance Computer made its debut orbiting the Earth on Apollo 7

1970- The Kenbak-1, the first personal computer, advertised for $750 in Scientific American. RCA was founded in 1919 to make vacuum tubes for radio, then a new invention

1973- The TV Typewriter, designed by Don Lancaster, provided the first display of alphanumeric information on an ordinary television set

1974- Researchers at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Centre designed the Alto — the first work station with a built-in mouse for input

1975- Xerox closes its computer division, Most of the rights to the machines were sold to Honeywell

1976- Steve Wozniak designed the Apple I, a single-board computer With specifications in hand and an order for 100 machines at $500 each from the Byte Shop, he and Steve Jobs got their start in business

197- The Cray I made its name as the first commercially successful vector processor. The fastest machine of its day

1977- The Commodore PET the first of several personal computers released in 1977

1977- The Apple II became an instant success when released in 1977 with its printed circuit motherboard, switching power supply, keyboard, case assembly, manual, game paddles, A/C power cord, and cassette tape with the computer game "Breakout”

1983- Thinking Machines is founded. Thinking Machines Corporation (TMC) was formed by MIT graduate student Danny Hillis

1984- Apple Computer launched the Macintosh, the first successful mouse-driven computer with a graphic user interface

1985- Commodore’s Amiga 1000 is released1987- IBM introduced its PS/2 machines1992- Gates' Microsoft Corp. released Windows 3.1
