What is History?

Understanding past events are essential on how our country operates today especially in our government, city counsels, schools, the workplace, and as an individual.

Historical facts are primarily based on primary and secondary sources.

The Journey of Man

DNA is the key to linking us to our ancestors.

Blood is the link to making a family tree of the entire world.

The Journey of Man

Modern humans evolved in Africa and left in waves of migration 60,000 years ago.

The world family tree can be traced through genetic markers in male DNA back to the first humans.

Catastrophe

Natural disasters have altered civilizations.

Modern technologies have used tree rings and ice to detect climatic changes leading to events in civilizations.

Perhaps a volcano, asteroid or comet caused such disasters.

Famine, bubonic plague, crop failure, and increased rat population were a few of the results caused.

Changing Interpretations of America’s Past

Columbus was thought to be one of the first European’s to get to America, however there were settlers there about 100 years prior.

English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese visited the mainland regularly to trade goods.

By 1491 the America’s had over 1.15 million inhabitants.

When the Mayflower arrived in 1492, they began to dig up graves and survivors were taken hostage by the Indians.

Norse was said to have been the first to discover the America’s.

Columbus is said to have heard of Norse’s voyage at a bar although Columbus had a lasting impact on settlement in the America’s.

The three largest empires arose: Imperial China, Europe, and America.

Sickness and death were a result of the trade ships bringing goods across the seas.
