Subject: Law and Morality. “When the state through its laws seeks to override reasonable moral commitments it makes a dangerously uncharacteristic choice. The law grows from the deposits of morality. Law and morality are, in turn, debtors and creditors of each other. The law cannot be adequately enforced by the courts alone, or by courts supported merely by the police and the military. The true secret of legal might lies in the habits of conscientious men disciplining themselves to obey the law they respect without the necessity of judicial and administrative orders. When the law treats a reasonable, conscientious act as a crime it subverts its own power. It invites civil disobedience. It impairs the very habits which nourish and preserve the law.” United States v. Sisson, 297 F. Supp. 902, 911 (D. Mass. 1969)

Aloha Governor Ige, “The iwi is the bones of our deceased loved ones, and they are meaningful to each one of us. They're not here to defend themselves, we are. We are here to malama (care for) them, respect, honor, take care of them; and not because they're deceased and not here, that we're not just going to let it go; we are responsible to malama them. Also too, for Hawaiians, burial locations were one of the most secretive traditions in our culture, a culture that is over a thousand years old. I always say, and I always heard this… the greatest teacher we have… every ethnic race… is your ancient ancestors. Protect and malama them. That is your sacred duty.” ~Auntie Malia Craver ~ The above quote is significant for this illustration so that you can understand the magnitude and importance of why burial locations were never disclosed in ancient Hawai’i. When a person transitioned, it was between the deceased, immediate family and Akua (God). It was undisclosed to the community so that grave robbers could not dig up the grave to steal from the dead. Mauna a Wākea ideally, is the most sacred and Holy place to bury the dead, especially the royal family of the Kingdom of Hawai’i. I am taking this opportunity to lawfully state with clarity of mind, that I have Hawaiian Royal Family buried on Mauna a Wākea. Also too, legend has it, that King Kamehameha the great is possibly buried there as well. My mother who is 83 years of age and dad who is 85 (Both living) are direct heirs to the Kamehameha line and the sacred royal line called “Ni’au pi’o” (Hawai’i’s sacred royal child) of highest rank and divine lineage. My Grandmother Kalanikauikaʻalaneo Kai Keōpūolani-Ahu-i-Kekai-Makuahine-a-Kama-Kalani-Kau-i-Kealaneo (1778–1823) was the highest ranking wife of King Kamehameha I, and of the “Ni’au pi’o” (Hawai’i’s sacred royal child) blood line. This is my sacred Blood Line that is undisputed, sacred and divine. I am “Ni’au pi’o” (Hawai’i’s sacred royal child). We are the Royal Priesthood House of Kamehameha Nui ‘Ai Lu’au which is the Royal House of Pi’ilani which is the House of Maui-loa that is the House of Hawai`i-loa that is the House of Kumuhonua, the first human of ‘Io who is God. My family has publicly proclaimed our pre-eminent royal Hawaiian lineage. We proclaim concomitant skills and mastery in the most ancient Native Hawaiian cultural practices of royal governance (laws of consecration and ohana servitude), the 12 levels of the practice of kahuna nui specifically that of prophecy and healing arts, and the cultural mastery of ancient traditional justice (kūkākūkā – ho`oponopono).

In this, we give testimony and bear witness that ours is not only the working knowledge, but also, the mastery of all the skills and capability likewise evident by personal exhibitions and proof of qualified formal training even documented by disinterested third parties. Our vision is based upon uncommon competencies originating from the highest and most respected royal lineage in the known history of the Kingdom of Hawai`i. Our vision is also based upon specific competencies originating prior to1100 AD - the time of the reformation of the Hawaiian archipelago’s system of governance into today’s familiar “Ali’i System.” Our vision incorporates the competencies originating from three major ancient voyages settling the American continents and Polynesia. Although we do not claim pre-eminent royalty throughout history, we do claim having the highest priesthood and royal lineage concerning the Hawaiian archipelago from 387 AD to present. We believe that there is no other prospective Hawaiian claimant or family that can make and document their ancient genealogical rights comparative to ours. Because Kamehameha Nui ‘Ai Lu’au, King of Maui Kingdom, represented the highest and greatest birthright in all Hawai`i Nei, our record had been threatening to some of the Kamehameha I (the Great) dynasty in power at that time. Our lineage is also popularly known as that of King Kekaulike, the King of Maui and the father of Kamehameha Nui ‘Ai Lu’au. Maui Kingdom was ancient Hawai`i’s most powerful and significant Kingdom. It comprised the most divine royal lineage whose origins derived from the most ancient birthrights from Oahu and Kaua’i. Our royal genealogical record was that ancient oral chant kept and added upon, throughout the millennia and through the voyages of our ancestors into the Pacific to settle the uninhabited islands. The ancient Hawaiians had no written language and all records were oral chants. Our lineage was kept by specific priesthood holders and solemnly recited in Royal Courts of the Kingdoms of Maui, Hawai’i, Oahu and Kauai. Our record was put into writing by the royal genealogist, Hoku Pakipika, shortly after the birth of the sacred High Chief of highest rank, Kapahupinea-Kaleikoa-Keopuhiwa-Paki, on February 14, 1871 in order to protect Hawaii’s highest royal birthright. At that time, Kamehameha V was Hawai’i’s king and the last of the Kamehameha I dynasty which was of lower lineage to Kamehameha Nui ‘Ai Lu’au. The two royal heirs of Kamehameha I had additional lineage to the High Chiefs Kalola, daughter of King Kekaulike, but the mere younger sister of King Kamehameha Nui ‘Ai Lu’au.

I am the King and your actions and that of your agents in the Office of Mauna Kea Management, State Department of Land and Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Agencies, University of Hawai’i and your executive and judiciary branch are in direct violation of Kānāwai Māmalahoe, or Law of the Splintered Paddle established by King Kamehameha I in 1797 and amended by me in 2015. "Let every elderly person, woman and child lie by the roadside in safety," is enshrined in the State Constitution, Article 9, Section 10, and has become a model for modern human rights law regarding the treatment of civilians and other non-combatants. You are trying to prevent the TMT group from suing the State of Hawai’i for a billion dollars, if they are not able to complete the construction of their telescope. You are also being pressured by some large companies threatening to leave Hawai’i if the TMT is stopped. As you know, the TMT had a report prepared for one of their major donors predicting the project would face the accumulated anger and frustration of those who have tried for decades to protect the Mountain from desecration and exploitation by the astronomy community in concert with the University of Hawai’i. That report told the proponents of this project that there would be political, regulatory, and legal obstacles to the project. The TMT proponents decided to proceed anyway, apparently believing that they could sweet talk their way past opposition. The approach clearly failed. The responsibility for that failure rests on the shoulders of those who ignored the warnings, not the people of Hawai’i. The people of Hawai’i do not owe them anything for funds that they wasted in pursuit of a known high-risk project. As to the corporations that might leave Hawai’i, if the TMT is stopped, they were never really part of our community anyway or they would not be making such threats. We will be better off in the long run if they leave and we work together to build an economy that truly works for everyone, not just the big corporations. While you are acting to avoid a lawsuit and kow towing to corporations, the Protectors are acting to prevent the desecration of a sacred site, to assure the rights of spiritual practitioners, and to protect the ecological systems of which Mauna a Wākea is a critical part. Who has the highest calling? Rather than conspiring with the Attorney General and other State agencies to suppress Hawaiian traditional faith practices by implementing clearly unconstitutional restrictions for transparently political purposes, you should embrace your kuleana as Governor of Hawai’i, not TMT Land.

The efforts you are making to criminalize expressions of religious reverence and political opposition bring discredit upon you and your administration. That you would dare to suggest the National Guard could be called out against its own people demonstrates how totally out of touch you are. You might want to review the history of the last time that the National Guard was called out against the people. The venue was the airport. The controversy involved the people blocking the runway to protest the high incarceration rate of Hawaiians, the bombing of Kaho’olawe, and the mismanagement of the Bishop Estates. Governor Ariyoshi called in the National Guard. The Guard came, saw who they were being asked to go against, and objected to being used for such a purpose. You might also review Governor Lingle’s creation of a joint federal, state, and local law enforcement operation to protect the Superferry operating illegally after a Hawai’i Supreme Court ruling and to crush the blockade to Superferry created by surfers in the Kaua’i harbor. Her attempt to criminalize legitimate protest ended her political career. You are campaigning to be the next Governor to show disrespect for the Hawaiian people in order to service the greed of those who would exploit our nation. Look closely at the commitment of the Protectors of Mauna a Wākea. You will learn something about acting from a base of morality. The power of that commitment will be the rocks upon which your ship will disintegrate, unless you change course. In closing: These several weeks I’ve been very patient in articulating lawfully our position with great transparency regarding the integrity of this government through my leadership in following the rules of law with clarity and truth. On the other hand you, your attorney general, 3rd Circuit Court, and law enforcement have not. Violating your Constitutional Laws (Federal and State), Hawaiian Compiled laws and the Law of Nations carries a terrible penalty that destroys the spirit and integrity of the person’s soul, and good name. Creating new regulatory rules to fit your desires does not make those rules lawful, especially when those rules destroy the very fabric of law that is designed to protect and not scare and intimidate those who are standing for the Rule of Law and Truth. Those rules you’ve implemented are designed to control the will of the people.

What is most appalling is your threat of sending in the National Guard, sending in more police officers, threatening to increase jail time and impose heavier fines as a form of punishment and control to enforce your will upon my people. You are seriously mistaken to think that you can control the will of the people. I’m here to tell you, that the Will of the people is alive and well. They will not be intimidated even if it should cost them their freedom and life. Desecrating sacred burial grounds and a Holy Mountain revered by my people insults me, my ancestors, their descendants and God (Akua). I am evaluating my own options. I do not intend to leave my people defenseless against some heavy handed, illegal, unconstitutional State effort to deny them their identity and their rights. As King, I have a kuleana to protect the traditional faith of my people, sacred burial grounds, and to shield all my people from abuse. You are confusing power with legitimacy. The true power comes from the truth. The truth is that the people are fed up with a government that sells the land, sells the culture, sells the birthright, and sells anything else it can get its hands on. The rotten core of your government holds the illegal and immoral acts of those who stole the Kingdom for their personal profit. You are the heir of those thieves.
