    Dear Mr. Leary,

    As you are aware, Mr. Richards from Renaissance High School has declined his position

    for the school year 2012-2013 as the head coach of the boys basketball team. As a

    result, the human resource department has started the hiring process immediately to

    make sure that the best candidate would replace Mr. Richards.

    As the search committee concludes the process, we would like to share with you all the

    documentation that took place during the whole hiring process.

    Step 2: Job Description

    a.The search committee will come together to

    create a job description for the job opening.

    Step 3: Job Posting

    a.

    Job description for a new head coach (basketball team)

    Headbasketballcoaches will need a minimum of three to five years as a successassistant basketball coaching experience or one to two years as a successful heabasketball coach. Playing experience at the college level is preferred but is notrequired by many institutions. Head basketball coaches should possess aminimum of a bachelor's degree in physical education, sport management or a

    related field. A bachelor's degree is required, but a master's degree is preferred a lot of cases.

    Requirements

    A head basketball coach needs the ability to communicate well both orally andwriting, as well as comfort interacting in small groups. Head basketball coachewill engage in public speaking from time to time at community events throughothe year. In addition, the head basketball coach has to promote teamwork andwork towards achieving department-wide goals. Furthermore, he must haveplanning skills and the ability to motivate the team to work together andcompete.

    b. Since Ms. Lunsford will be making half the salary that Mr. Richards received

    due to the salary steps, human resource and the search committee has decided

    to open an assistant coach position. This candidate will be picked from the 22

    applicants. The search committee decided to offer the position to Mr. Arthur

    Spielberg. Mr. Spielbergs references were check and a background check was

    conducted as well. Mr. Spielberg was interviewed for the assistant coachposition.
