Introduction

1 Introduction

myPortal entry Web Services V2 is a unified communications starter solution for

the HiPath 3300/3350/3500/3550 and HiPath 500 (as of V8R4) communicationsystems.

It consists of the following three coordinated components:

• myPortal entry Web Services V2, the core software component for

connecting to the respective communication system,

• myPortal entry Widget V3, an application for stationary PC workstations,

• myPortal web, the application for Smartphones of mobile employees, and

• myPortal for OpenStage, the application for the stationary PC workplace.

For details on which mobile networks can be used, see Performance

Comparisons.

INFO: The Apple iPhone G3 was used as a reference for

describing the usage of Smartphones. However, in the

descriptions that follow, the generic term "Smartphone" is used,

since myPortal web is platform-independent and runs on all

current standard web browsers.

Step by Step Instructions for the Initial Installation

2 Step by Step Instructions for the Initial Installation

The section below provides you with step-by-step instructions for the initial

installation of the software components of myPortal entry and myPortal web. Thesteps describe the minimum scope of an installation in a standard configuration

and includes the installation of one myPortal entry and myPortal web client each.

Details on setting up different configuration variants are provided further below in

the document.

Pre requ is it es : •  One of the following communication systems: HiPath 3300/3350/3500/3550

and HiPath 500 as of V8R4 or Octopus F100/F200/F400 as of V8R4. The

software of the communication system has been updated to the latest

released version. As of V8R4, an MMC card with a minimum capacity of 128

MB is required in the communication system to save the configuration data.

•  For mobile callbacks: the required Mobility Entry licenses and Mobility Entry

stations have been configured; the mobile stations with the associated stationnumbers have been entered; Least Cost Routing is active, and the WEB ID

Maintenance

4 Maintenance

A number of integrated tools are available to you within the

myPortal entry Web Services for maintenance and troubleshooting.

INFO: Whenever any changes are made to the configuration of

myPortal entry or the configured subscribers or licenses, a restart

of myPortal entry is recommended. The restart enforces

resynchronization with the system.

Within the myPortal entry Web Services Administration, you will find appropriate

functions under the Administration menu to perform typical maintenance tasks

such as the following:

• Get Log Files can be used to retrieve and display the log files of the Web

Services.

• Create Backup can be used to back up the entire database of the

myPortal entry Web Services. This includes, among other things, all the user

data as well as the IP addresses and port numbers.

• The database can also be copied back (i.e., restored) from an earlier backup

file with Restore Backup. In such cases, after the database has been

restored correctly, an automatic restart of the myPortal entry Web Services

occurs.

• The function Restore factory settings for Web Services replaces the

current database with the factory default database. Consequently, the Login

and Password details for the administrator are also reset to their default

values.• Update the Web Services software enables you to keep the Web Services

software up-to-date with the current version.

The status display can be used for troubleshooting: the system displays

information on the status of important connections and software components on

the Status page and indicates whether or not they are operating correctly.

The Application Server  component establishes the connection to the

communication system and the database and is responsible for maintaining the

local data of the users/clients.

Maintenance

Under the status for the application server, you will find relevant details on the

functioning of the following essential connections:

• Phone system

• Database

• Voicemail

• Missing monitoring items

•  Active users

• Current connections

• Users without terminal devices

• Mobility Entry Users

The application server tries to automatically recover from dropped connections to

the communication system, for example. The corresponding entries for this can

be found in the log files.

The Restart button can be used to resynchronize the application server with the

communication system.

This is always required whenever Mobility users or Mobility licenses are added,

removed or changed in the communication system.

The myPortal entry Web Services Assistant operates the administration portal of

the myPortal entry Web Services.

The myPortal entry Web Services Provider presents the myPortal web

application in a browser.

INFO: The LAS can be restarted via Administration > Status >

Application Server . The entire Plug Computer can be rebooted

via Plug Computer  > Maintenance > Reboot.

The Read log files item on the maintenance page can be used to copy the log

files in zipped format to any PC or data volume available on the customer

network.

The ZIP file contains trace and log files that can serve as a starting point for

diagnostics when the status page shows that a particular connection cannot be

established.

The active client sessions of selected users can be displayed under the User

Management. It shows which client has logged in from which IP address.

web client and the myPortal entry widget. Normally, the Basic MULAP

configured earlier must be specified here. If you have only a Smartphone and

no system telephone, enter the virtual station number instead.

•  A Mobility Entry license must have been assigned in order to use the mobile

client.

• If the caller' s phone number is to be visible at the mobile station (GSM), the

system parameter "outreach call number transparent" must be activated. This

function requires the "CLIP no screening" feature, which may be subject to an

additional charge, to have been released in the central office.

How to Start myPortal web for the First Time

7.2 How to Start myPortal web for the First Time

myPortal web can be started as a web-based interface via various Internet

browsers. The solution has been optimized for presentation on Apple' s iPhone,

but is basically also compatible with other mobile phones such as Symbian OSSmartphones (e.g., the Nokia E Series). Please note, however, that this may

result in deviations to the description provided here. Due to the numerous

operating systems and web browser variants available on the market, it is not

possible to guarantee the proper functioning of myPortal web on all mobile

phones.

Pre requ is it es : •  The myPortal entry Web Services are available.

Step by Step: 1. Enter the URL http://<Plug Computer>:8801/ or https://

<Plug Computer>:8802/ on your Smartphone and confirm your input.

<Plug Computer> stands for the DynDNS address of the Plug Computer

that was configured in the router.

2. Save the URL of the page as a favorite/bookmark for myPortal on the Start

page of the Smartphone.

INFO: Whenever you open a URL with a bookmark, a new

browser session is opened in each case. In order to use myPortal

web repeatedly, it is best to always use the same browser session

after opening the bookmarked URL for the first time.
