    Hilary Mwelwa aka Hilz is no stranger to the game. Having started her career ten

    years ago as part of the duo, Hil St. Soul, Hilary has recorded 4 albums, garnered amassive international following and has collaborated and shared stages with some ofmusics finest talent.

    Born in Lusaka, Zambia and raised in London, she latched on to her fathers love ofmusic at an early age. Her family home came alive with the sounds of traditional

    Zambian music, as well as R&B, Gospel and classic voices of American soul, mostnotably Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

    Originally studying to go into the sciences, she earned a degree in Biology howeverafter exploring her musical interests, her passion shifted, giving way to the realisationthat she wanted to pursue music more seriously.

    Hilary took a year off from school to record and after teaming up with producerVictor

    Redwood-Sawyerr, Hil St. Soul was born. Their first album, Soul Organic wasreleased in October 2000, becoming an instant underground hit and launchingHilarys career. Hil St. Soul went on to release 4 albums in total, collaborating withartists like American soul singerDwele, legendary rapperPharoahe Monch andRoots Manuva

    Hilarys universal charm has gathered her a

    large international following that has seen herperform all over the world at events likeGlastonbury and the Capital Jazz Festivalin Washington DC. Her career highlightsinclude performing on The Jools Holland

    Show and singing for directorSpike Lee atan event honouring his work. Famous venues

    such as the Jazz Caf in London and SOBsin New York have showcased her powerfulvocals and her artistry has graced stagesalongside musical legends such as JamesBrown, Raphael Saadiq, Macy Gray,DAngelo, Angie Stone, Isaac Hayes,Donell Jones, Lalah Hathaway, Boys IIMen and many more.

    Vibe Magazine labelled Hilarys sound as a

    rich, velvety voice that warms the inside likea spot of tea and The Boston Globeheaped praise upon her voice, describing it

    as a beguiling set of pipes with a whiff of Whitney here and a scoop of Chaka there .Hilarys music may feed the ears like a calorific meal but its organic substance is

    definitely good for you. Her content and melodies are hard hitting and never fail toleave an impression.

    Now recording under the name of Hilz, Hilary makes her highly anticipated returnwith a new project that she hopes will reach wider audiences and higher heights. Thealbum, entitled Bring Back the Love, has been produced by The Rural, with theexception of Bring back the love, produced by Corin and Loopy Loo, produced by

    Steve Anthony.
