BIOGRAPHY

HHHHilton BBBBarcelos, composer, Brazilian poet, interpreter, reveals himself as an instigator musician and modern arranger. He focuses in the social, spiritual and human passions through his lyrics and the aesthetic musical comedy. The intuition leads his workmanship.

His influences go from Soul Music to Progressive Rock, Oriental rhythms, Bossa Nova, Jazz and Brazilian Popular Music. With great versatility, Hilton works with art integration, without fads. Although not labeling his music, he walks throughout the regional, national and universal influences. His eclecticism in his way of composing and the fusion of different trends transforms his work into music with no borders.

He initiated its career participating in music festivals, taking several music courses, such as vocal techniques, show direction, music therapy, aesthetics and

composition, conducting and orchestra participation among others. He made several individual concerts and their partners in subsequent years.

In 1982, he launched the album “Confissões de um Retrato Falado (Confessions of a Composite Drawing)”; he meets Hans-Joachim Koellreutter. He participated in the “Pixinguinha Project” in 1985/86, with performances in Rio de Janeiro and northeast of Brazil, together with Luiz Melodia, Carlos Lyra, Sandra de Sá, Andréa Daltro, Rosa Maria and Tambores Urbanos. In 1988, he had a composition performed by the “Symphonic Orchestra and Choir of Paraná”.

In 1990, he launched the album “Arquétipos (Archetypes)” displaying a modern sonority and timeless. In 1997, he publishes “Nas Águas do Verbo (Through the Waters of Verb)”, a book of visual poetry, lyrics and monologues. The disk “Olhos de Luz (Eyes of Light)” is the musical launching of the year 1998 and counts with the participation of great musicians. In 1999, did the art direction and production of the poetry book “Palavras de Fogo (Words of Fire)”, of Lyra Barcelos.

In 2000 their partnership “Ginga sem Fronteira (Ginga without border)” with Airto Moreira is recorded to disk “Homeless”, by Airto. In 2001, gives a new interpretation on the album “Arquétipos”, adding new songs and internationally acclaimed musicians; interacting with the tracks, the richly illustrated book includes a single work. In 2003, he idealized and produced the specials “Arquétipos - Hilton Barcelos” and “Airto Moreira”, presented in the Brazilian Public TV.

In 2006, he launched “Music Made in Paraná”, a songbook with one hundred scores, lyrics and biographies of more than 60 composers. In 2007, he concept, script and show direct of launching that songbook; in the same year, he launched the songbook “Além das Pérolas (Beyond Pearls)”, organized by Alessandra Angelo,

with scores, poetry and photos. In 2008, he participated of the documentary recording “Música Subterrânea (Subway Music)”, by “Olho Vivo Project”; he released your work in some places of Spain and Portugal. Back in Brazil, he launches the songbook “Nas Trilhas do Tempo (In the Paths of Time)” in 2009, contain scores, poetry and lyrics by herself and partnerships; he returns to Europe (Madrid, Barcelona and Amsterdam) for artistic release and initiate new projects. In 2010 released the compilation “In the Paths of Time” by Bloodsugar Records, a German company; makes more season in Europe (Madrid) for dissemination and promotion of their work. At present some songs ready for recording.

DISCOGRAPHY

TTTThe compilation CD “In the Paths of Time”, released in 2010 by German label Bloodsugar Records, with sales and Internet distribution. It has 15 tracks with music and lyrics of his own. The title is the English translation of the more recent songbook of the author “Nas Trilhas do Tempo”.

The CD “Arquétipos” released in 2002, counts with 15 tracks with his own compositions and partnerships. Hilton does an admirable job of arranging, conducting and meeting musicians, with the participation of Airto Moreira (percussion), Vittor Santos (trombone), Alessandro Kramer (accordion), Nenê, Endrigo Bettega and Celso Alberti (drums), Roberto Bürgel (piano e arrangements). The illustrated booklet provides a fusion of music and graphic arts with a rich result. In “Arquétipos”, Hilton integrates various styles and genres.

The CD “Olhos de Luz”, released in 1998, has 13 songs with his own compositions and associations. Hilton brought together musicians from diverse tendencies, making room for the singers and musicians. The disc contains three arrangements of Master Waltel Branco for wind quartet and special guest Carlos Malta and Jorginho do Trompete. The group Na Tocaia (Glauco Sölter, Endrigo Bettega, Mário Conde and Jeff Sabbag) also participated, along with Romano Nunes Cabelo (guitars) and others. The booklet includes photographs in black and white. “Olhos de Luz” is a journey of sound, light and images.

The LP “Arquétipos” released in 1990, shows modernity, originality and good taste. The album took over 10 years to complete. It brings together musicians instrumentalists and composers, all under the baton and arrangements by Hilton and Roberto Bürgel. The album was produced between frequent trips to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Curitiba, with participation of Curitiba Harmonica Orchestra and Renaissence and Nymphas groups, soloists of the Symphony Orchestra of Paraná, vocalists and instrumentalists of various trends. With a proposal for a personality, this album still has much to be discovered, a timeless work. “Confissões de um Retrato Falado”, the first music production Hilton Barcelos and released in 1982. The disc has partnerships Hilton and Fernando Montalvão and participation of musicians such as Carlos Freitas (drums, percussion and effects),

Roberto Bürgel (keyboards, piano), Celso Alberti (Drums) and others.

“NNNNas Trilhas do Tempo”, the third songbook released in 2009, brings together lyrics, poems, musical scores and photos from Hilton Barcelos and its partners. More technical, focusing on the musical scores, showing also booklet records and books previously published. Contains more of hundred musical scores.

“Além das Pérolas”, songbook released in 2007, contains lyrics, poetry, photos, musical scores of Hilton Barcelos and partners, reports, stories and memories.

“Música Feita no Paraná”, organized by Hilton Barcelos, presents more than sixty composers and lyricists of the state of Paraná, Southern Brazil, from the 1930s to the present day. The songbook was released in 2006. Contains one hundred musical scores, lyrics, photos and a brief biography of the artists. “Nas Águas do Verbo” is a book of poems, monologues and lyrics of Hilton Barcelos released in 1997. Many poems of the book can be read freely, which often generates other senses and other images. The book is classified as visual poetry or graphics poems.
