What happens if we add a noun?
J'ai Tu asIl aElle aJ'aimeJe n'aimes pas de…Aimes-tu? un chien
J'ai un chien.
Tu as un chien?
Il a un chien.
Elle a un chien.
I have a dog.
Do you have a dog?
He has a dog.
She has a dog.
These are slightly different – look carefully at what has happened to the ‘un’ which means ‘a’.
J'aime les chiens.
Je n'aimes pas les chiens.
Aimes-tu les chiens?
I like dogs.
I don’t like dogs.
Do you like dogs?
But what happened to the word ‘a’ in the English sentences?
In groups, try making up some sentences of your own by
changing ‘un chien’ to another word in French:
J'ai un chien.Tu as un chien.Il a un chien.Elle a un chien.J'aime les chiens.Je n'aimes pas les
chiens.Aimes-tu les chiens?
I have a dog.You have a dog.He has a dog.She has a dog.I like dogs.I do not like dogs.Do you like dogs?
