• Canyons are formed by layers and layers of rocks and sediment.

• Water, ice and wind move the rocks and sediment.

• Over time, the sediment and rocks settle and create a new layer in a canyon.

This is the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It has taken millions of years for ice, wind and water to form the Grand Canyon.

• Sand dunes are formed by the wind which carries light grains of sand.

• The wind can cause heavy grains of sand to bounce.

• All the blown sand accumulates and settles into a dune.

• Frost wedging occurs when water freezes then thaws

• This process causes erosion

• Frost wedging is so strong, it can cause rocks to split
