    FROM THE PASTORS DESK

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Members and

Friends of the Hill United Presbyterian

    Church:

The week of July 15 through the 22nd, we had

simply a wonderful and amazing Music, Art and

    Drama camp.

Led and directed by Kathy Sawyer, withcostumes by Jennifer Gilliland, with the help

of many other parent, grandparent, and youth

volunteers, and with a terrific cast of

children, youth and young adults, the Gospel

of Jesus and His love was presented in a

    joyful, lively and memorable fashion.

Happily Forever After is a musical parable

about living life in the Kingdom of God way

what the musical called the backward way.

That is, Christians are challenged and led by

our Lord Jesus to live very differently fromthe everyday ways of the world so that the

Gospel of Jesus love can truly be seen and

    shared with others.

Remember Jesus words: Seek first the

Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all

else will be added unto you!

Together, lets live that backward way,

showing the Gospel to the world!!!

Grace to you and Peace from God

the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ,Pastor ClarkRev. Clark Sawyer

    GHANA MISSION TASK FORCE

Here it is; fast approachingthe end of our season of

    raising funds for the Ghana

    scholarship program for young

    women. For those who have

wanted to do this but have not

yet done so, please remit your funds by August

15th. We will be transmitting the money by late

August. Thank you to all for assisting this

mission work to make a difference in the world.

Was it really difficult to give up something if you

did this to save your money? Let me know.

Thank you Ashley Holmes for constructing our

    Tree of Knowledge.

While I was at the General Assembly meeting inPittsburgh during the July 4th week, Ghana was

favorably mentioned on several occasions. The

country was mentioned in a couple of committee

meetings and on the floor during plenary

sessions. At the World Mission booth in

conversation with one of the representatives, we

were complimented for our scholarship efforts.

There was a conversation with a Milwaukee

Presbytery representative and a church involved

with the Ghana Mission Network of which ourtask force is involved. The church, Westminster

Church of Albany, New York, had a youth group

visiting the final day of the assembly as they

were headed to work at the Pittsburgh Project.

Several of the youth were Ghanaian. That

church is a multi-cultural congregation with aGhanaian membership of about 30. See the front

bulletin board for a picture post card of our

    West Africa Liaison, Joshua Heikkila.

One of our scholarship awardees, Benedicta

Akbokey, continues to express her interest

concerning the possibility of attending college in

America. Does anyone in the congregation have

any specific contacts(process or financial) to

help her achieve this dream? Keep Benedicta in

    your prayers.

Our Task Force also continues to request y

prayers for our Christian friends in the Bubia

District churches, as well as for Josh Heikkila.

For The Ghana Mission Task Force Jim Ihlenfe

    Dear Members:

I truly thank you dear people for honoring me

beautifully on my 95th birthday by coming to

celebration and sending me such lovely cardsso

    with touching sentiments-others really funny!

have read and reread them-they are r

    keepers!

My dear friends gave of their time and energy

prepare the refreshments and I do sincerely ththem-they are such dears all the time!

When I was young, (yes, I really was young a l

time ago), our church was known as the Glad H

Church and I think it remains so today. O

members are friendly and loving. We all appreci

    that!

The Lord has richly blest me with a loving family

long, happy and healthful life, and the is wha

    pray for each of you.

    Sincerely,

    Ida Miller
