Peterson Regional Medical Center (PRMC) continues to take giant steps toward improving the health of newborns and infants. For the second consecutive term, or past four years, PRMC’s Baby Place has been designated a Texas Ten Step facility.

The Texas Ten Step Program encourages breastfeeding as the preferred method of feeding for newborns and infants. The program assists birth facility’s support of breastfeeding mothers before, during, and after delivery and encourages them to identify breastfeeding resources for the mother after she is discharged. Tina Korbelik, Director of Women’s Services at PRMC, is proud of the efforts put forth by staff to encourage mothers giving birth at Peterson to exclusively breastfeed. “Our nurses, midwives and doctors at Peterson work very hard to help young mothers successfully breastfeed and this helps us meet our goal to retain our Texas Ten Step Program and Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite designations. Peterson’s breastfeeding promotion and support year after year is extraordinary and is a true testament to ensuring the health of our newest Texans.”

Taking all the right steps to keeping babies healthy, Peterson is the only hospitals in the region with an International Lactation Consultant on staff. Lori Pruitt, RN, BSN, IBCLC, has expanded her knowledge base and obtained certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in order to help moms and babies achieve their goals for breastfeeding success.

Pets for Peace 2015 Fourteen-Month Calendar

This fundraising calendar will showcase pictures of pet owners with their pet(s)

in various poses, each one representing a speciÞc beneÞt that comes with adopting a pet. For example, love (like the pictures in the background) and exercise, play, relaxation, companionship, therapy, K9 literacy, an enhanced

sense of peaceful belonging, to name a few.

Professional photographer, James Partain, has volunteered his equipment and his talent for this project. Proceeds generated from the calendar will provide for

special needs identiÞed by the Kathleen C. Cailloux Humane Society of Kerrville.

A donation of $75 per picture ensures each participant receives a complimentary

calendar with a picture on a month page. The last page of the calendar is reserved for pictures of animals only, secured by a donation of $30 each.
