Education
Arunodaya Special School: Individual Rehabilitation Programme (IRP) was organised for
parents of pre-primary children during the month. The parents were explained about the
techniques to be adopted at home for the development of the special children.
‘Akshaya Vidya: The programme which provides quality and holistic education to the
children in slum areas for a period of one year has concluded in 40 centers located in the
slum areas of Hyderabad and YSR Kadapa Districts. Considering the effectiveness of the
programme, it is planned to extend the programme to slum areas of Visakhapatnam
District. In this connection, the tutors identified for the 20 centers at Visakhapatnam were
provided one day orientation programme. Shri PK Mohapatra, ED (Law, Gen. Admn. &
Town Admn.) inaugurated the workshop organised at Marripalem village near
Sabbavaram of Visakhapatnam.

Health Care
Cochlear Implantation: In order to promote for the noble cause of rehabilitating the poor
children with hearing impairment, Cochlear implants to four children were provided
through ALIMCO. Surgery for the fourth beneficiary was successfully completed during
the month.
Parivarthan: A menstrual health awareness programme was conducted at VVV School,
Ukkunagaram benefiting 200 girl students of 7th and 8th Class. The above in house
programme aims to address the concerns of menstrual health among High School
students. During the programme the precautions to be taken during one’s periods and the
importance of proper nutrition in having good menstrual health were explained to the
girl students.

Sanitation
Bala Swachhta Jagruthi: Three Sanitation awareness programmes were conducted at
Zilla Parishad High School Islampeta, Visakha Vimala Vidyalayam Ukkunagaram. The
importance of personal hygiene, cleanliness, effects of plastic waste on the environment
etc. were explained to 2348 students who were covered in the above programme.
Swachh Bharat activities were carried out in various Departments of VSP during the
Month. Daily Reports on “Swachh Bharat” Campaign received from plant areas are
compiled and sent to Ministry of Steel (MOS)
Swachhta Hi Seva : In line with the Prime Minister’s call, a mega Swachhta campaign
with the theme ‘Plastic Waste Management’ was organized in RINL from 11th Sep to
2nd Oct’2019 with a view to create a clean & safe environment across the plant, township
and surrounding communities. During the campaign various activities like Swachh
Jagruthika Abhiyan – creating mass awareness, Shramdaan –mass cleaning activities
involving Employees, Communities, Schools etc. were organized for improving
surrounding areas with a special focus on identification of plastic waste and disposal.

‘Safai Pakhwada’: Fortnight long intensive cleaning drives were organized in the ERS, ES&F,
R&D, TQM&ISO and PPM departments during first fortnight and IT & ERP and Telecom
departments during the second fortnight of September 2019 respectively.
