MARC LOMBARD, A GREAT SUPPORTER OF SGS RECEIVES BRONZE WOLF
Marc Lombard, a Swiss Scout Leader is bestowed the Bronze Wolf, the highest award of the World Scout Movement. He has been greatly supporting Scouts Go Solar Project and has affectively been able to coordinate between WOSM, Greenpeace and Solafrica to promote SgS Programme whose main centre is KISC (Kandersteg International Scout Centre) Switzerland, the place where Scout Leaders of the World are trained as Solar Ambassadors. It is worth mentioning that Marc Lombard, as Director of the centre has made the KISC the flagship of the International Scout Centres. SGS Team congratulates Marc Lombard on this high achievement.

SOLAR AMBASSADOR’S TRAINING AT KISC
First Solar Ambassador’s Training for the year 2016 starting on 20 June was ended at KISC on 25 June. Following Scout Leaders from different countries participated in this training: Jonas Dragunas Lithuania Jesus Armando Costa Rica Paulo Natividade Portugal Michal Medak Cz Republic Eilif Wang R.o. China Jegoda Pisarska Poland
Through this training participants were provided the opportunity to learn about solar energy for the Scout Movement.

The concept and content was created
and delivered Solafrica and
Greenpeace while the WOSM
organizes the Solar Badge Program.
During this training, participants
cooked meal using Parabolic Solar
Cooker, made Spinning Disc Art,
prepared Solar Suitcase and get
involved in many other activities
related to Scouts Go Solar Project.
Besides this, they also discussed energy
saving ideas and different ideas to
promote solar energy.
Stefanie Luginbuhl from Solafrica was
the course leader and solar expert
Michael Gotz was the lead trainer. The
Scouts Go Solar project test phase
began in 2013 with the first training at
the KISC.
SGS PRESENTATION DURING WSSEE IN CZECH REPUBLIC
World Scout Seminar on Environment
Education ended in Czech Republic on
21 May 2016. A presentation was
presented regarding Scouts Go Solar
on the last day of the seminar. After the
Seminar a Solar Workshop was held on
22 May as a post Seminar Activity.
Most of the seminar participants were
gone through solar activities. They were
really amazed when they tasted fried
egg on parabolic solar cooker. Solar
Cockroach Race and Solar Art were
also well exciting activities. Participants
also made their own sunglasses to
protect their eyes from harmful rays of
the sun.

SGS ACTIVITIES AT PHILIPPINES Philippines is the first pilot country for Scouts go Solar activities. Before the official
launching of the Solar Badge many different Solar Activities tested and
implemented by Boy Scouts Philippines (BSP). During the last six months many
Road Shows regarding SgS were organised in different areas and localities of the
country. A very enthusiastic Scout Leader Bernando De Leon particularly got
involved to organize these road shows for different Scout Groups and Councils.
Boy Scouts Philippines Conducted 1st World Scout Course on Environment
Education. During this Course Solar Activities were introduced to the Participants
of the course. Solar Art and different Solar Gadgets especially Solar Suitcase got

SGS ACTIVITIES AT PAKISTAN Pakistan was declared pilot country for Scouts go Solar in 2014 when scouts of
PBSA were involved in SgS activities during 14th National and 2nd SAANSO Scout
Jamboree in December 2014.
Since then, Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) is involved to implement
SgS on different levels. Following activities were held in this regard during the last
six months:
SgS Activities for Officers of Pakistan Red Crescent at NHQ Islamabad.
Solar Exhibition for students of Pakistan Scout Cadet College Batrasi NHQ Islamabad
Solar Exhibition for Students and Scouts at PHQ Quetta city.

WHAT SGS IS…..?
The Scouts go Solar project is a global environmental project by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), in partnership with Greenpeace and Solafrica. The Solar Badge is a sub-badge of the World Scout Environment Badge and assists in the achievement of the third and fourth aim of the World Scout Environment Programme (WSEP).
The SgS project is coordinated by Asif Mahmood of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) that is hosting the Global Coordination. The SgS Steering Committee is composed by member of WOSM, PBSA, Greenpeace and Solafrica.
SEND REPORTS
This is the 1st issue of tri-monthly SGS Newsletter. The main purpose of this Newsletter is to share the news and experience of the persons involve in Scouts Go Solar activities all over the world. All Solar Ambassadors are requested to send activities’ reports, solar news and photos and let the others to know what is going on regarding Solar. Thanks……
