Oak Hill News No. 05 MAY 2017 Volume 67 With Jesus as our guide and community as our goal, we worship, love, serve and grow.

Early in the fall, one of our youth,

Emily Bischoff, came to me with an

idea. She wanted to put on a sum-

mer camp for youth in our commu-

nity and asked if the church could help her do that.

She told me about how she remembered her days in

VBS here at Oak Hill and how much she loved it.

She wanted to make sure other kids had that same

kind of experience.

Now, it was a project for school, and she would have

classmates and friends to help out, but she hoped to use

the church space and experience to plan her camp.

With the help of Youth Leader Christine Woodward,

Emily began to hatch a plan. When some of our church

youth gathered last fall, they started brainstorming to-

gether ideas for the camp. They decided they wanted to

use their mission trip week and devote it completely to

Emily’s project, to Emily’s idea.

Emily is working up the budget, the daily schedule, the

activities and supplies lists. She’s recruiting the volun-

teers and strategizing about getting the word out to po-

tential campers.

And we, oh church, get to help support her in this lov-

ing and generous dream. If you’re an adult who re-

members VBS from back in the day, or day camp when

you were small, or who just has passion and time to

help a teenager with her idea, we’d love to have you

join team Summer Camp at OHPC. We’re looking for

volunteers for the week of June 5-9 who can help sup-

port our youth as they lead the camp. Come for one

day or come for the whole week. Come early before

work to help set up, or join us for the whole morning to

play with little ones, create with crafts, sing silly songs,

and share tasty snacks.

Come, join in the fun, serve your neighbors, support

our youth, and see where this creative project may take

us all!

With love and hope, Pastor Erin

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

Thank you so much for Oak Hill’s continued support

of Presbyterian Campus Ministry in St. Louis! It has

been a joyful Spring semester of ministry-from our

Spring Break Service Retreat at the AMEN House to

our on-campus small groups and Sunday night dinners

and worship. We continued exploring the theme from

the Monreat College Conference – “Beyond Babel” –

through worship, service, and discussion, considering

how Christ calls us to radical diversity and revolution-

ary love.

May Christ be with you all the rest of this Lenten

Season! Many thanks,

In peace of Christ,

Pastor Miriam Foltz

Dear Friends,

Thank you for making the in-kind donation of 200

sandwiches on 01/19/17.

New Life Evangelistic Center truly appreciates your

willingness to donate items that help others in need

when you know there will be no tangible gifts or

services provided in return.

Christ has called us to be a help to others, lifting up in

prayer those who are in need of love, kindness and a bit

of generosity. Jesus states in Matthew 25:40, “I tell you

the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my

brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

It is the kindness and generosity of caring people like

you that assists New Life Evangelistic Cener in

reaching the needs of the hurting, hungry and the

homeless people in the area. Please continue to keep

New Life in your prayers. My prayer is that God would

abundantly bless you and your family.

Yours in Christ,

Larry Rice
