Wednesday 1st Jun 9.30am - 5.30pm 75 Years of Public Opening Anniversary Day Blair Castle, Blair Atholl Wednesday 1 June marks 75 years since Blair Castle first opened it's doors to the public.In the Summer of 1936, the castle’s first visitors were able to view its remarkable interiors and its many treasures for the first time, a privilege previously extended by invitation only and reserved for such illustrious guests as Queen Victo-ria and Bonnie Prince Charlie. The first day of public opening attracted 286 people and tours to the top of the tower could be enjoyed for just one penny!All visitors to Blair Castle on this special day will receive a souvenir postcard. In addition, the 286th indi-vidual visitor will also receive a compli-mentary bottle of Atholl Highlander whisky and be invited to stand for a celebratory photograph with a member of the Atholl Highlanders regiment. To add to the sense of celebration Af-ternoon Teas will be served in the cas-tle ballroom from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
