Cardiac Troponins are widely used to detect Myocardial Infarction (MI), due to their specificity for the heart and the fact that levels remain elevated in the blood for prolonged periods of time. A small increase in the levels of cardiac Troponin may indicate damage to the heart and possible MI. As such, international cardiology and laboratory

medicine guidelines recommend a highly sensitive Troponin T assay with excellent precision (<10%) at the 99th percentile of the reference range. Such high sensitivity assays are capable of accurately and precisely detecting low levels of Troponin T enabling earlier diagnosis and treatment.
