It is a private, non-profit school accredited in the United States through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and internationally through the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the International Baccalaureate Organization, the first IB accredited school in Malaysia. Over the years, ISKL has built its outstanding international reputation by balancing sound tradition for academic excellence with innovative approaches to teaching, learning and expanding technology. Community ISKL is an international community proud of its student body, families and faculty. As of September 2016, the total student High School enrollment is 597, with 142 in the senior class. The current graduating class comes from 35 countries. Parents of ISKL students come from a variety of business, government and other professional backgrounds. There are 78 high school faculty members for the 2016-2017 school year representing 15 different countries. ISKL’s faculty is comprised of highly qualified and experienced individuals with 78% of ISKL’s faculty holding degrees at Master’s or Doctorate levels. There is an average student teacher ratio of 18:1. High School Calendar ISKL has two semesters, with the first beginning in early August and ending in December. The second semester begins in January and ends in June. Classes meet for 85 minutes. There are four periods each day of an eight-day rotation cycle. There are a total of 36 weeks in the school year. Academic Program ISKL is a college preparatory school with English as the language of instruction. The High School program is designed to prepare students for entrance to universities all over the world. Graduates earn a US secondary school diploma and students may elect to pursue the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or invidual IB courses, or take Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The IB Diploma Program (IBDP) is a demanding pre-university course of study that leads to external examinations and is open to all ISKL High School students. All IB classes are available to non-IB diploma students. In total, 39 IB courses are offered at ISKL. College Admissions ISKL seniors are allowed to send applications to no more than 10 colleges and universities worldwide. Institutions can be assured that an applicant from ISKL is a serious candidate to any university program. Extra-curriculars: At ISKL, learning does not stop with academics but encompasses social, emotional and moral development. ISKL has a vast array of co-curricular activities. In a typical year, ISKL offers a wide variety of community service options, art and music programs, language or cultural clubs, academic-related clubs, honor societies, and recreational organizations. ISKL also fields 11 varsity teams, and has competitive programs in forensics, debate, and the arts
