IWRAP: HS2005 summary

MEASUREMENTS: C- and Ku-band reflectivity and Doppler velocity

profiles of precipitation and ocean backscatter for Hurricanes Ophelia (Sept. 7, 9, 11, 12 and 13) and Rita (Sept. 22 and 23).

PRODUCTS: Boundary Layer wind field below aircraft at 25 m

(vertical) x 0.5 km (horizontal) resolution.GOAL:

Process acquired datasets and extend current ABL retrievals down to the surface.

We are not part of the RAINEX effort ─yet.

Our goal for this workshop is to let you folks know what datasets we have and what products we can generate.

Our questions to you are:

How does high-res ABL winds down to the surface sound to you? other products?

In what ways fits /complement /supplement the overall RAINEX dataset and objectives?

Conclusions
