uPVC FRAMES AND SASHES

All of our windows are made using the finest quality,specially blended, un-plasticized poly vinyl chloride, oruPVC, frames and sash. Your window frame and sash mate-rial will never rot like wood windows are prone to do; it

will never corrode like metal windows.uPVC is good for the environmentbecause it saves energy better thanother materials. It never needs refinish-ing (no need to use environmentallyharsh varnishes or stains) and it lastsmuch, much longer than wood or othermaterials. This inherent durabilitymeans that the likelihood of having toreplace your uPVC windows again in

the future is much less than if you used wood or metal.

It is also important that you choose WELDED vinyl win-dows because the corners are permanently fused togetherand will never separate. Many vinyl windows today arescrewed or stapled at the corners just like wood or metalwindows. Some are welded on very old, single- or double-weld machines. The corners can separate and leak air andwater. Choose only fusion welded vinyl produced withrobotic 4-point welding equipment.

We reinforce the sash keeper railin our double hung and slider win-dows with a unique resin-based glass-filled composite material. K-Beam™

utilizes Kevlar® fibers for additionalstrength and the lowest thermal con-ductivity meaning extra energy effi-ciency. Most manufacturers of vinylwindows today use aluminum or steelto reinforce their vinyl, which workslike a thermal short circuit due to thepoor thermal properties of the metal.K-Beam™, our advanced compositereinforcement with Kevlar®, assuresmaximum strength, energy efficiencyand durability for the life of yourhome.

ENDURA-FORCE™ BALANCE SYSTEM

When you choose a double hungwindow configuration there are addi-tional features to look for. A sash canbe moved up and down for ventilationpurposes. Insulated glass is heavy,especially if you are using the higherinsulating and more energy efficienttriple pane glass combinations oftoday. Balance hardware is used tohelp offset the sash weight so that ahomeowner can operate their windowwith ease.

There are several balance types inuse today. It’s important to know thedifferences because they can make abig impact on how smoothly your win-dows operate over time. Soft-Lite usesa new, heavy-duty, constant-force bal-ance. Our balance is a Teflon®-coated,stainless steel coil protected inside athermal housing which makes itstrong, silent and thermally superior.

With a 3/4” inch steel band widthand a fully encapsulated thermal chas-sis that resists dirt and dust accumula-tion, our Endura-Force™ balance sys-tem will give you decades of effort-less, maintenance-free operation.Spiral balancers are a thing of the past.Block and tackle balancers depend ona string, a spring, and pulleys that arehoused in a metal chassis that doesnot help the thermal performance ofthe window they are in. The National Fenestration Rating Council (www.nfrc.org) is an independent agencyorganized to help you quantify manufacturer's thermal efficiency claims. Workingclosely with Energy Star to help consumers fight the waste of valuable energy, theNFRC measures the overall thermal performance of a test specimen window. The offi-cial results are published on the NFRC label that is placed by the manufacturer onevery window. Results are also published on the NFRC website. The glass package, thewindow material and its components, and the form and function of the window select-ed will affect the overall U-factor of the finished product. The lower the U-factor is, thebetter the window's overall thermal performance. Soft-Lite worked deliberately todesign Imperial LS with key thermal features that make it one of the best-performingwindows you can buy. We have selected materials for our product that work welltogether as a system to produce the lowest possible U-factor so you can stop wastingenergy and live in a more comfortable, efficient, and beautiful home. The American Architectural Manufacturer’s Association (www.aamanet.org) is thesource of performance standards, product certification and educational programs forthe window, door and skylight industry. Soft-Lite has been an AAMA Gold LabelCertified Member which is the highest available designation, for many years. AAMAexecutes no test for thermal performance like the NFRC. Instead, AAMA measuresand quantifies the overall performance characteristics of the window design itself.First, the test specimen window is tested for air leakage by a fraction of cubic feetper minute at 25 mph winds. Next, the same window is subjected to the equivalentof an exceptional 8” per hour rainfall at increasing wind speed until water actuallypenetrates established barriers and diversions in design through the window.
