AmurAct™ Fast Electric Actuator
AMURACT™ OVERVIEW
The AmurAct™ Actuator is a revolutionary product in both function and design with best-in-class performance at a price point previously ignored by other manufacturers. While when configured the valve can fully open from closed in about 8 seconds, the actual response time to a required heavy load change from a ‘normal’ flow condition is only 2 — 3 seconds, on par with pneumatically actuated products. The AmurAct™ linkage has tremendous torque as it approaches closure allowing for increased close off pressure even on larger valves. Under close off, the AmurAct™ linkage is in full Lock-Up mode that allows removal of the motor for service or replacement quite easily with limited disassembly.** Fail-Safe is of course included with Enerdive*. The patented Enerdrive System™. The modern, electronic replacement for antiquated spring return actuator is a “super capacitive” fail-safe return system.
* Enerdrive or the Enerdrive System is both a patent and trademark of National Environmental Products, Ltd. Since its introduction, Enerdrive™ has proven its versatility and dependability. As a system that is fully incorporated into the PC board for both low and line voltage service, the power generated and stored in its capacitors will drive the control valve at full rated torque to its safety position. It is 100% operational with the resumption of power. Each unit may be manually positioned with the clutch override that is standard on each actuator. DescriptionWarren Controls High Capacity General Purpose Globe Control Valves feature rugged iron bodies with a variety of trim materials. The equal percentage plugs in the 2-way valves and linear plugs in the 3-way valves provide excellent modulating control of a wide variety of fluids. The AMC is ideally suited where value and long life are important objectives for applications including but not limited to: Food & Beverage, Packaged Water Heaters, Pharmaceutical, General Service, and Waste Water having moderate pressure drops and temperatures from -20° to 400°F.

NOTES: 1. (TYPE 30) When a seat Closure is listed as ‘Contact’ it is largely the same as 0 PSID closeoff. There is enough torque for contact seat closure. Increased differential pressure in this position will have significant leakage through this seat.
2. (TYPE 30 and 32) The two output ports must not have more than 100 PSI differential between them.
3. (ALL) For maximum trim life observe maximum sustained flowing differential pressure trim limits. See page 4.
4. (TYPE 30 and 32) Under power fail conditions the valve leakage rate is at the next lower ANSI leakage class.

Unless a purchase order specifically requests it to be configured differently, an AmurAct™ control valve will accept a 4-20 mAdc input signal, provide 4-20 mA feedback, will fail shut (lower port shut for 3-way valves) upon loss of either operating power or input signal or both, and will have linear stem lift on 2-way valves.

LINEAR STEM LIFT VS. NON-LINEAR STEM LIFT
NOTES:1. Linkage Model LS at factory is aligned with the pipe center line. It is specified when line media are below 250 deg. F., or 340 deg. F. when the valve body is insulated.
2. Linkage Model LE must be installed perpendicular to the pipe center line. It is specified when line media flowing through un-insulated valves exceed 250 deg. F., or 340 deg. F. through insulated valves. The 180-degree offset anti-rotation tailpiece is integral to this design.
3. Actuators F3, F4, F5 and F6 are identical in appearance.
4. Loosening either the stem or bonnet connection will affect performance, may cause damage and will void the warranty. Refer to procedures in the IO&M instruction document.
Contact the Warren Controls factory at (610) 317-0800 before attempting to reconfigure or reposition either the motor or linkage. Failure to do so will void the warranty
Linear stem lift is the factory default dipswitch selection. Linear stem lift means the stem position is linear with respect to the input signal. For example if the valve is closed with a 0% input signal, the valve will be at 25% Stroke with a 25% input signal, at 50% Stroke with a 50% input signal, at 75% Stroke with a 75% input signal, and at 100% Stroke with a 100% input signal. Linear stem lift preserves the inherent flow characteristic of the valve. When non-linear stem lift is selected the actuator has an ever gain changing stroke curve that accelerates in the last half of the stroke and is relatively slow on startup.
Extreme gain changes as present in the Non- linear configuration are difficult for a control system to manage. If an application’s turndown requirements are only 3:1 to 5:1 for example such that a valve could be sized to only operate from 50% to 100% of stroke, some level of speed of response can be achieved in the Non-linear configuration. Otherwise, in all other circumstances, the Linear Stem Lift (factory default) will be the desired setting.
In either case, correct control valve sizing is critical to good operation.

Each AmurAct actuator is precision factory calibrated on each valve prior to shipment. Field re-orientation of the actuator due to piping or other considerations can disturb the calibration and damage your AmurAct voiding the warranty. To prevent unneccessary field re-orientation be sure to select and order each AmurAct with the actuator in the correct orientation.
