Layout flexibility with few design limitations

System layouts can use a maximum equivalent distance of up to 235 meters. This makes it much easier to design for floors with many small rooms, or for tenants who often rearrange their floor layouts.

As of December 2009 (according to in-house studies)

Toshiba SMMSi leads the industry with support for height differences of up to 40 meters between indoor units on a single system. That is enough height to cover an 11-story building.

The flexibility means that virtually any imaginable configuration of the refrigerant Y-type branches and/or header piping can be used in an application to give the shortest, most cost-effective piping installation.

DX coil kit to connect the SMMSi to an AHU for a fresh air supply

Currently, fresh air intake is normally achieved using be-spoked stand-alone air handling units. These third party AHU’s pre-condition the ambient fresh air to roughly match that of the conditioned space.

The Direct Expansion Coil Interface (DX) enables the connection of a TOSHIBA Outdoor unit to a third party Air Handling Unit (AHU) for fresh air intake.

New DC twin-rotary compressor *1*2

Leading the world with Toshiba’s own new DC twin-rotary compressor

Three new DC twin-rotary compressors that feature outstanding capacity under partial load drive the 14 HP outdoor unit models, while two are used by the other outdoor unit models. These new compressors improve both energy efficiency and comfort levels.

New DC twin-rotary compressorOptimization of discharge port positioning and blade thickness reduces compression loss and friction resistance. Increasing the surface area of the rotor magnets and the addition of slits realize greater efficiency and reduced noise.

Twin-rotaryEach motor employs a compact and powerful magnetic rotor (rare earth magnet) and features reduced eddy-current loss.

Fast-calculating vector-controlled inverter *1*2

All-inverter control realizes finer control over operation to match the load on the system

Smooth sine curveThe fast-calculating vector-controlled inverter produces a smooth sine curve that improves operating efficiency.

Circuit boardThe vector-controlled inverter quickly converts current into a smooth sine curve to achieve smoother operation of the compressor’s DC motor.

Infinity variable control

Ultra-precise 0.1 Hz control over compressor rotation speed

Infinity variable control adjusts compressor rotation speed in near-seamless 0,1 Hz steps. Responding precisely to the capacity needs of the moment, this fine control minimizes energy loss when changing frequencies, and also creates a comfortable environment subject to minimal temperature variations.
