HIDDEN SAINTS OF INDIA Part I - Periyavar Rarnamoorthyji INTRODUCTION I am K. V. Viswanathan aged 82 years and I have worked in various parts of India. My last posting was at Hosur, Tamil Nadu, INDIA as DeputyCollector.Now I am settled at Chennai I do have lot of anecdotes regarding the experiences I had with Saints of India, which many may wonder. For the benefit of all mankind, I am arranging for publishing the same on net, through one of my neighbour. This would be updated on weekly basis without fail (if not earlier) More to follow!!!! Any queries , info, may be queried upon at viswanthankvc@gmail.com and I would try to reply within a week or so. Periyavar Peedam In case of great souls not only the physical presence that would vibrate the peaceful, serene atmosphere, but the articles used by them do have a great bearing. We are familiar with the episodes of Rama Padhuka, which helped Sri Bharata to rule the country in the absence of Sri Rama. So also there are many episodes in our epics as well as in our Puranas to prove this. In respect of Sri Periyavar, the seat as well as the Peedam where he places his feet are also powerful. They are very many episodes connected with them. In Madurai where our Sri Periyavar gave discourse for 3 days the Peedam played most unbelievable acts those cannot be explained by word or writings. But all were real experiences. Of this I shall deal as and when occasion arises.

Episode 1 : 1st Meeting with Periyavar I had mentioned in short my meeting with Sri Periyavar in Aanmeega Nilayam in Krishnagiri. It was really strange indeed. I got this through my Poorwa Punya alone. For, this was my 1st step in the spiritual life with our Sri Periyavar. I could not catch the real meaning of his words Our Relationship is aged long i.e. it dates back to very many births. As our Sri Periyavar would say IT IS NOT BLOOD RELATION, BUT IT IS AATHMA RELATION WHICH KNOWS NO TIME AND DISTANCE BEYOND ALL HUMAN CALCULATION AND UNDERSTANDING. Episode 2 : Alert Condition Normally I go to bed by 8.30 PM after my visit to Aanmeega Nilayam in Krishnagiri. I used to spend till 10 PM there, at times even late. But I never felt sleepy or tired, all by the gfrace of the Master. So also, when I was with Sri Muniyandi Swamigal our meeting time was from 10 PM to 5 AM. So the presence of Divine persons would drive away all our sluggish lethargic mental as well as physical conditions. Episode 3 Play of thoughts At the time of my joining the Nilayam virtually a cold war was waging between Sri Periyavar and another very powerful evil spirit. The soul was aged nearly 800 hundred years doing tapas in the icy heights of Himalayas. But due to aversion towards the human species for some reason or other he acquired powers by sapping the knowledge as well as the life of young and intelligent people. And thereby, he prolonged his life all these years and acquired knowledge. It so happened that the boy known to Sri Periyavar was seized by the influence of the monster like being through a medium. So the affected boy was brought to Sri Periyavar. Here Sri Periyavar has described the unbelievable velocity of the thought wave of that man which surpassed the light years speed. At the end, the man who was at Himalayas, came to the place of Aanmeega Nilayam before Sri Periyavar in the form of spirit and surrendered wishing to get only

PEACE. This was assured to that spirit and thus mankind was saved from further onslaught by this evil-minded person. I was the eyewitness to that episode. Episode 4 Implicite Obedience During my visit to Nilayam one day, I went there as usual with milk parcel. On reaching this place Sri Periyavarr said, "You can go". This made me embarrassing. A. man, who used to sit there from 5PM ts l0PM if asked to leave the place immediately, naturally it would make him upset. I thought that I did some wrong or wounded the feelings of one who was my benefactor. When I expressed my desire to stay back "IT IS LEFT TO YOU". I stayed there still 10 PM and returned to town by walk. From there I took the bus to the road junction where I had left my cycle to proceed to training center at dam site. It was an Ammavasai day or new moon day without any light. Before reaching my place I had to go over a culvert. There was no light in my cycle also. So I was going in a slow speed. I just reached the culvert. There I was stopped by a man who held the handle bar of my cycle. All of the sudden he aimed big log of wood, and was about to hit my head. Then the drunken man had an inclination to have a puff from the beedi in his mouth. He just inhaled. On the glow of the light he saw my face and said, "You are not that man, you can go". I was wondering why I was stopped and allowed to go! In the pitch darkness on an Ammavasai Day for a drunkard who was armed with a dangerous weapon like a big stick, which could give a death stroke to anybody, who gave the idea to have a puff? How he could recognise me as a person other than be was expecting to give a blow? Really it was only Sri Periyavar who saved me from this deathblow. So Guru is not confined to physical form, he is everywhere and anywhere. Episode 5 Disappearnce of Wound: I have already made mention of the great powers of the PEEDA.. An episode happened to our Sri Periyavar. One day after his regular shave the blade was put in the glass of water. He totally forgot about that. After some time absentmindedly he put his fingers inside the

glass wherein the blade was in upright position. So he blade stuck to his finger in between the nails and flesh. He could not remove that easily. So the whole area was smeared with blood. So he went and sat in his usual place. Suddenly two hands raised from the Peedam and holding one took away the blade and put some turmeric powder available on the wounds. Thus the bleeding was stopped and there was no scar at all. The wound also vanished along with blood. When I went to Nilayam as usual in the evening Sri Periyavar asked me to examine his fingertips. I said I could not make out anything. Then Sri Periyavar explained what happened in the morning and how the blood was stopped even without any scar. So the spiritual power of Peedam could not be explained by any one but can be experienced by the true devotee. Episode 6: Reply to unasked questions: There is yet another episode connected with the PEEDA. It was on a later date. was working in a T.V.Malai as Dv. Officer. A friend of mine had a very strange experience of getting reply to the questions he put to another sadu in T.V.Malai through Sri. Periyavar at Sholingar .So he wanted to have dharsan of Sri Periyavar at his ashram in Krishnagiri. He had some personal as well as other problems. He thought it better to get redress at the hands of Sri Periyavar. He came to Ashram in Krishinagiri with the list of question to be put to Sri Periyavar. But to his bad luck Sri Periyavar was out of station. With the heavy heart he had o return. Sri Periyavar was informed of visit of the person from T.V.Malai. To the surprise of the man who came with the volley of question but returned without any reply, had a letter replying all questions, which he never asked to Sri Periyavar in person. Really wonder indeed. Sri Periyavar would simply explain in the following manner. All come here with one problem or other. The time. the circumstances do prevent them from asking such questions. But they leave 66their thoughts here". Sri Periyavar would collect all such unasked questions one by one and give the required reply even without the knowledge of anybody. For this PEEDAM helps.

Episode: 7 - Help to Unconcious Lady : The same kind of experience was felt by a lady in Madurai. Here Sri Periyavar had given a lecture for three days The lecture took place in Tirunagar in May 1977. After a year or two the following episode happened. It was a residential school where Sri Periyavar gave lecture. The PEEDAM and the SEAT used by Sri Periyavar was preserved with al sanctity by the owners. : It was at the down stairs a lady who was in the advanced stage of pregnancy was very much in need of food and water. But there was no one nearby. So in an unconscious state the lady put her head on the PEEDA, which Sri Periyavar used some time back for his lecture. From that PEEDAM we were told two hands rose up with handful of edible and woke up unconscious lady and fed her. Not oniy that, she was also given drinking water. This was narrated to the people who were there on the upstairs by the side of that lady. So the power of the PEEDA used by spiritual people could not be explained .It is beyond reason or logic" Only one can experience by oneself and could not explained. Our Sri Periyavar has written about this in his books. Anything used by a spiritual man if kept sacredly can do wonders. In his book he has mentioned about the cloth used by Sri Periyavar had controlled the evil spirit, which prevented a lady from her sleep. Episode:8 My Health Problem : While at training centre I had bleeding piles complaint. I had to sit with great difficultly. Whenever I went to Nilayam Sri Periyavar enquired about my health. Then I told him about my condition. He gave me "Turmeric Power" as prasad. I used it three times only. The wound projecting the size of ripe neem seed gradually reduced in size and fell down in the size of mustard seed. But the same karma was taken by the Sri Periyavar and had to suffer for many years. In fact he had to under go an operaiion for that. There are very many episodes like that. Episode :9 - Daughters Health (FITS) :

Once my 3rd daughter who had fits was taken away and suffered by Sri Periyavar. Like that he suffered for 20 years and he had to undergo operation and treatment for fracture of limbs caused by fits. Sri Periyavar had faced even accidents while driving the car because of that. But he was saved by the presence of his master. He ws kind enough to transfer the karma from her to himself. Episode: 10 - Repayment of Loan : I shall narrate an episode where he helped me with cash of Rs.3000/'Earlier I took loan frorn SBI Usilampatti for my daughters marriage. I repaid one part of it. as I was transferred on promotion from Madurai to Krishnagiri. I could not repay the loan promptly. Usually I used to get blessing of Sri Periyavar before I leave Krishnagiri to come to Madurai where rny family was put up'. For one trip I did not do so. I did not also inform of the notice I got from the State Bank for the non repayment of the loan. In the notice they have stated that my name would be reported to government for the failure of repayment of loan. I retuned to Madurai.on Saturday morning. Sri Periyavar sent a special messenger with Rs.3000 asking me to repay the loan taken from the bank. This was done through the special messenger. He had informed that though I did not tell him about the notice at all he knew of it and sent the money through a special messenger. on my return to Krishnagiri, I asked Sri Periyavar how he knew about the loan and what made him to send the money through a messenger to be remitted into the bank. For this Sri Periyavar said, We have to take not only your spiritual development but also all your commitments.. He explained that the relationship is not like others. ] Episode: 11 Sadhus Karma Transferred to Sri Periyavar : Sri Periyavar always obeys the instruction of his master unmindful of the Consequence that would arise. One such episode happened. Sri Periyavar had the practice of taking away Karmas of others by accepting them himself and working out that. It so happened that I took friend of, mine a Sanyasi. He was forced to take that ashram. He did not like to embrace the sanyasarn by compulsion. Sri Periyavar as usual took the karma of that sadu also.

After the rituals of taking karma from the sadhu, Sri Periyavar went inside a secluded room for some time. The usual practice was that he would come out of it very soon. But on that particular day he did not come for a very long time. We were all waiting outside for Sri Periyavar. He came out and explained to us what had happened in the seclusion? He explained that other spirits surrounded him stating what he did was wrong in the case of the sadu whose karma Sri Periyavar had taken. It was against the natures law. Once should not take the karma of either an infant or that of the sadhu. For both of them the karma was not fully ripe. In the case of this sadhu karmas were not yet over even by taking the ashram of sanyasi. .So all those spirits prevented the soul from joining the body of Sri Periyavar. At this stage his great guru appeared and offered to give all his tapas for his devotee. He explained to them that the missions as well as the medium were both pure and so he was ready to sacrifice anything. Telling this he was giving all his tapas saying "Krishnarpanam". Then while uttering this word, the tapas the master did was only increasing and never decreased. So the other souls could not do anything and they allowed the soul of Sri Periyavar to enter into the body. Sri Periyavar who obeys the instructions of his master was always helped in his tests. Epjsode; l2 Loosing Eye Sight: In another episode in carrying out his masters dictum he had to loose the eyesight of this Sri Periyavar has mentioned in the book. when he was offered the highest post of the head of universe Sri Periyavar rejected that offer and prepared to under go any difficulty or suffering given by his master. In this episode also Sri Periyavar was saved by his master. Episode: 13 - Padayatra Sri Periyavar used to take all by padayathra to Thirupathy in the height of summer. With them there was a doctor who was much devoted to our Sri Periyavar, During the journey by foot all the members would get blisters on their legs, which would make them very difficult to walk. Sri Periyavar taking pity of them would receive

all their pain and the wound from their legs would be transferred to him. But in spite of at his sufferings with wound on his legs, he Used to walk in the hot sun. At times he would ask the doctor in their company how the wound was. To this the doctor would reply that It was in sceptic condition, which should be operated immediately, and he had to take bed rest. Sri Periyavar would laugh and say Everything was alright. There was no need for any surgery or rest.. My master will help me to complete my missions. So there was nothing to worry at all. Sri Periyavar would say any suffering given tome by my master with his blessings. I would take them as a pleasure and suffer that faithfully. _ Episode 14 : Transfer of Fever : Sri Periyavar in his early days used to go for giving lecture even for the remote villages of which I shall deal separately. During such tours he would get high fever with sheerings making him impossible to sit and talk for along time. on such occasions Sri Periyavar used to hand over his suffering to the persons who accompanied him. Till such time he was engaged in the lecture the fever as well as the shivering would be borne by the person to whom it was transferred. It would be iike when we go for a bath at time we would hand over our wrist watch to somebody to be kept tiil we returned. So all so Sri Periyavar did So. He had power to transfer the suffering to others as well as to take suffering from others. Episode: 15 Trip to Hills in Trance : While at Krishnagiri Sri Periyavar who also worked as a field officer used to go by cycle. On one occasion it so happened that on his way he saw a snake and was stopped by that. soon another snake also came. Then as destined by his guru he traveled in trance to Thirupathy to have the dharshan of Sri Balaji. Meanwhile we were waiting for Sri Periyavar for nearly three days. We were much anxious about his whereabouts. on the fourth day Sri Periyavar came

slowly with all the over body smeared with dust. Then Sri Periyavar explained to us what happened all those three days, "Meeting with the snakes proceeding to Thirupathy to have dharshan as guided by his master. There were many occasions like that to go without any prior information to places at his masters command. Yet another episode of which happened at Vridhachalarn during his stay in the Guest house at Sri Kolanjihappar Koil of which I will narrate later. Episode 16 : Spiritual Classes: I attended special classes at the Nilayam conducted by the Sri Periyavar. For this the participants had to come in wet cloth and Sri Periyavar would also come like that. In such classes very many secrets of life and our connection with other planets, the working of the universe and the existence of more than one solar system apart from ours and how life existing in them, and how they affect the beings on the earth and all other aspects where given as lectures. As mentioned earlier the books I got from Sri Muniyandi Swamgial of Reng palayam where used ,by Sri Periyavar for those classes. In fact all these subject where dealt with his great guru. Sri Thulasidhasar who livecl earlier than Sri Kamalanadhar. So in fact all the topics where only that of his guru Sri Thulasidhasar. This connection was further clarified by Sri Periyavar who made me to request him to come and give lectures in Madurai in 1977. of this episode I shall narrate in detail later. Episode:17 Sri Periyavar on long leave : Sri Periyavar who worked at block level had to be on long leave for some reasons or other. He could not join afler the lapse of long gap. There was difficulty in deciding his leave of absence. The concerned officers at district level hesitated to do this. So I represented his case. In the end the same officers had to seek redress at the hands of the Sri Periyavar. Then only those people knew the greatness of Sri Periyavar and they really felt sorry ifor not settling the leave account of Sri Periyavar.

Episode: 18 Spreading the message: It was my usual practice to explain the experiences I had with Sri Periyavar. This has helped many to come in contact Sri Periyavar and get his blessing. Even the district as well as state lever officers benefited by his dharshan. Of them one Deputy Direotor of labour education did find a place. Through him we had an opportunity to hear the lecture of Sri Periyavar in the All India radio, Madras'.He was responsible to arrange for the lecture in the camps held for the benefit of labourers at various places. Episode:19 Book Translation : Earlier days Aaenmega Nilayam has published two or three books on spiritual aspects. Of which Aanmegapathayil enna valarchi (Development of thoughts on spiritual path). One day Sri Periyavar asked me to translate this book into English. I told him that I was not familiar with those terms and other aspects connected with spiritualism. To which he replied that , in fact I could complete the translation in one night itself. This book was perused by Yogi Ram Surath Kumar in Tiruvannamalai. On my joining at the new station at Tiruvannamalai I got the blessing of that saint. Once he complemented me for the good translation. I thanked him for his kindness. Episode:20 Experience of the student : There is yet another episode connected with this publication. A student in sociology doing her Phd in an American University had a placement for project study at our center in Krishnagiri- I was in charge of her training. when I had just completed the translation of the book given to me by Sri Periyavar, her joining coincided. She was much interested in this aspect. So she was introduced to Sri Periyavar. She attended the evening crass herd at the Nilayam. Just before 3 days of her completion of her placement she came to Sri Periyavar who said, that he had decided to take her karma on the coming Sunday. She was in a fix. she asked me how the karma of a person could be shared by another? I said that this could not be

explained. so on the appointed day she was asked to come after a bath in the Nilayam itself. Then Sri Periyavar after the rituals was over enquired about her experience. She said that she felt really relieved of all her mental as well as physical burden and she had a new experience, which could not be explained in words. This episode clearly shows that those who are destined to get an experience from a person at a particular time should get it in spite of odds. This lady who was in United States had a placement in the remote corner of South India and thoo was in a different situation. She could get an everlasting experience in life was indeed the working of her Karma and nothing else. But in another case, Sri Periyavar and myself went to meet a person with prior intimation. He could not get dharshan of Sri Periyavar due to some other preoccupation for which he felt very much. This clearly shows that everything is predestined. It is not our wish but it is HIS WILL. Episode: 21 Supply of agricultural implements to farmers: As mentioned Sri Periyavar in government services was working in Hosur block. Of the various activities in agriculture under the item supply of agriculture implement and other items to farmers". Sri Periyavar collected some advance from the beneficiaries. As he was on long leave he could not attend to that and he did not remit the advance collected in to the union treasury. The officer in charge who got the Intimation of this decided to take disciplinary actions against Sri Periyavar. Meanwhile it so happened that all the beneficiaries selected under the schemes had assembled the office premises and were given their due share of agriculture Item. This happened even without the knowledge of Sri Periyavar. His guru took the physical form of Sri Periyavar and settled all accounts even without the Knowledge of Sri Periyavar. This reminds me of the episode of SRI RAMADAS, a great devotee of Sri Rama. Sri Rarna and Laxmana came in person in the guise of Sri Ramadas cleared the dues and settled his account. In this case the

Nawab was fortunate enough to get the dharshan of Lord in person in guise. Episode 22 Rare Opportunity : On another occasion all the members of Nilayam including Sri Periyavar was bed ridden due to some infection. There was no one even to give food for them. One evening when I went there, I saw the situation and gave milk, which I usually brought to Nilayam. Then immediately, I went to my room and prepared rice kanji with some pickles and sent it through special messenger to be taken by them. For three or four days, I got the rare opportunity to give BIKSHA to Sri Periyavar and all other inmates of Nilayam. Only after the spell was over they could come out to attend the daily life. Episode 23 Helping a man in distress: A saitji dealing in sweet meats shop had flourishing business. But suddenly he became very poor. His only son 20 years of age also went away without informing him. In great distress, that man came to Nilayam to get some solace. Sri Periyavar took pity on him and told him that he would get some information from his boy within a month. That saitji was coming daily to Nilayam. As predicted by Sri Periyavar he got a Money Order from his son informing that he was all right and parents need not worry about his welfare. The saitji was much pleased to hear this and thanked Sri Periyavar from the bottom of his heart.

Episode 24 Healing without operation : A Muslim lady who had an abscess on her right arm was suffering a lot. The doctor said it should be operated on and if required they had to remove the right hand. Her husband brought her to Nilayam. Sri Periyavar asked hirn to bring some castor oil in a bottle. Then he blessed the oil to be used by her. She did accordingly and to the surprise of all, her wound that required amputation was cured in three days with out any surgery. Thus the lady was saved by this treatment.

From that episode onwards the Muslim couples became much attached to Niiayarn and Sri Periyavar. Episode: 25 Dharshan of Sri Balaji : Another time when the same lady was down with the fever, She was given the dharsan of Lord Balaji at her bedside and she was presented with the Guava fruit. The lady at first hesitated to take it. But on the insistence of Lord she ate the fruit. . Her husband who went to get food for her from Hotel was surprised to see her sitting on the bed in good health. On enquiring she narrated the experience, as proof of eating the fruit she opened her mouth and smell of the fresh guava was felt by her husband. Episode:26 Trip to Mecca by Sri Periyavar : The same Muslim couple had yet another experience. It so happened that the father of the gentleman had all of a sudden cancelled his Holy trip to Mecca Then the gentleman came and asked Sri Periyavar whether he could go. For this the Sri Periyavar told him that as per tire conditions laid down in the Islamic convention, i.e. the learning and recital of Quran as well as to live up to the standard prescribed on principle were must. So he could not go to the pilgrimage. Sri Periyavar said that he is prepared to go to the holy place on their behalf and narrate the experiences he would get from there. For this, he specified 7 hours of absence from Nilayam. Sri Periyavar left his body here for 7 hours. He went to Mecca. But there he was not allowed in by the Holy spirits informing him that he was not a true Muslim and he had neither recited Quean nor lived by it. Then Sri Periyavar thought of his Master when he gained the knowledge of Quean as well as non- stitched dress used by the Haj Pilgrims. Then he was allowed in and he was shown all the important places like black wall, the well and other places. Sri Periyavar on return after the stipulated time of 7 hours came and entered into the body again. He took classes on Quean to the Muslirn Couple at the cabin of the cinema theatre. It was because the Quran should not be either read or explained by other than the Muslim. so Sri Periyavar who left the body went to Mecca in the form of spirit was a great feat indeed.

Episode:27 Recital of Thirukkural by a small girl : Yet another incident happened in another Muslims family. The daughter of the Muslims friend who was only 6 years of age got the great power of not only reciting the Thirukkural by heart but also any question on it she would complete any quotation from the great book if any one asks to do so. All the powers she got only by the sincere devotion towards Sri Periyavar. Even at the age of 6 years doing this is great task is really a wonder and only due to poorva punya she got such knowledge. Episode 28 Experience of a Mulla : One day a Muslim who would do the various duties according to the principles laid down in Quran carne to meet Sri' Periyavar. He was an industrialist also .Sri Periyavar put a garland on the neck of the Muslim. He used to pray with a sword in his personal room. On returning to his residence he put the garland given by Sri Periyavar on the sword. Then the sword began to speak to him about the great power of Sri Periyavar. The Muslim friend on his next trip to Nilayam read out the poem on Sri Periyarar composed in Urdu. Irrespective of religions, caste, creed and even nationality Sri. Periyavar would bless all and this shows that religion had little role in Nilayam. Episode 29 Sri Periyavars Photo helps in Malaysia : At the Nilayam there was a devotee who had some connection with his relative in Malaysia. So he went there for a short stay. One day he misplaced his important record about his identity. So, when he was caught by the authorities, he could not produce the same. But instead he had the photo of Sri Periyavar. He accidentally took it out and

showed the same to the authorities to be the identification card. So, our friend was let off without insisting the relevant record, Sri. Periyavar though living in Krishnagiri had helped a devotee by giving the identity, which helped him even though it was only a photo of him. Episode: 30 Receiving Paadham from Sri Periyavar : One day sri. Periyavar called me and presented a PAADHAM to me. He said I was distained to get it and even though another person had asked for the same. He was not blessed and so he gave it to me, which I kept safely. Episode:31 Ganga Jala : Sri. Periyavar who had been to Haridwar presented me with a copper pot filled with "Ganga jala", a very sacred thing for us. This also I keep it safely as a token of his blessings. All items touched by our sri. Periyavar are indeed very sacred and one cannot explain than even by words or in writing. But one can surely experience. However small that may be, the vibrations from such objects would be felt by any one even after the lapse of many years. As our Sri Periyavar used to say it is the mental attitude that counts much rnore than any other aspect. A good pious thought do have the intrinsic value just as a currency though a metal or paper the value is immeasurable. Episode: 32 My first trip to Thiruppathi with Sri Periyavar : One day all of a sudden Sri Periyavar called me and told that we would proceed to Tiruppathy. As we could not get any advance reservation in the route buses. We started our journey by a lony and reached Aambur. From there we got a bus to the temple Tirurnalai. We reached there by 3.30 AM. There was a long queue with the special tickets for Dharsan whereas we had none.]

The queue took an U shape and we were first from the last. The person at the main entrance asked us to enter first whereas persons who had bought tickets on higher denominations had to take the next chance. So, also at the sanctum sanctorum we were allowed to stand and have Dharsan snore than the usual time. All by the goodness of Sri Periyavar who has the rare privilege of the nearness and dearness of the Lord. This was told by Sri Yogi Ram Surat Kumarji of Thiruvannamalai. After dharsan we returned to Krishnagiri. Episode:33 Second Trip to Thirupathi with Sri Periyavar : This time I was at Vridhachalarn, I had a vow to be fulfilled in doing ANGAPRADHASHANAM by my daughter whose rearrange was conducted against odds but by the blessings of Sri Periyavar who conducted the marriage. It is a different episode by itself of which I shall narrate later: We all went by car and reached the holy place at the proper time for the "SUPRABATHAM" darshan. This time also we had a very good dharsan. Episode 34 Our Third trip to Thirupathi : After retirement I was at Dharmapuri. Sri Periyavar arranged a trip to this holy place by 3 mega vans. We took a big room belonging to the Devastanam. In this trip Sri Periyavar had decided to attain oneness with Sri. Moolavar at this holy place. He did not disclose it to anybody. He suddenly called me and handed over the wooden box containing the holy Japa Marai - RUDRAKSHA MALAI presented to Sri Periyavar at Pasupatheeswarar Temple 'at Nepal. Sri Periyavar entrusted the same to me telling to keep it safely. Every one was wondering at this time since he had never been without this all these years. Sri Periyavar told his decision of attainment of oneness with Sri. Balaji as in the case of,Sri.Ramalinmgaswamigal of Vadalur who attained samadi in the form of Jyothi. All of us entreated Sri.Periyavar not to do so since yet many persons are to be blessed by Hirn. To that Sri

Periyavar accepted with great reluctance. But he asked me to keep the box containing the Rudraksha with me for some time. I was thus blessed to have the same for more than a fortnight. Episode 35 My fourth trip to Tiruppathi with Sri Periyavar : This took place in 1999. Sri Periyavar conducted a large-soale yaga of Sudharsana Chakra of Lord Krishna for the well being of the universe as a whole. For this purohits were brought from Salem and other places. For this also I had the fortune to attend this great yoga and get the blessings of Sri Periyavar. Episode:36 Mantra Upadesa from Sri Periyavar : While at Krishnagiri Nilayarn Sri Periyavar during his trance in pooja called me and gave me the Mantra upadesam. This was a very sacred one and I cherished it as a great gift given by my master. . After this episode Sri Periyavar told rne that "Those who deserve to get it would get it at any cost". This is a very great thing to have in my life. Just as I had to mention upadesa form Sri Muniyandi Swamigal of which I had dealt in detail in another narration. In this case I am really blessed to have the Mantra upadesa of the great guru of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal and Sri Periyavar. I had narrated about their connection elsewhere in our Sri Periyavar's trip to Madurai when he threw light on this subject in detail. Episode:37 Sri Periyavar in Guru Pooja of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal Sri Periyavar took part in the anniversary of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal sannadi at Rangapalayam in Madurai District. On this occasion Sri Periyavar extolled his greatness of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal and blessed all who took part in the celebration Episode:38 Purchase of car by me : While discussing about other items, Sri Periyavar informed me that I would return to Tiruvannamalai only in the car to be purchased by me. In fact I had no idea of that. But as predicted by Sri Periyavar a friend of mine helped me to get a Fiat car'. I shall narrate the other

episodes connected with this vehicle. Ail other episode was true. All happened in the presence of Sri Periyavar. Episode 39 Lecture at Madurai by Sri Periyavar : Earlier I have mentioned that during the classes our Sri Periyavar took at Krishnagiri I used to ask whether Sri Periyavar would give lecture in Madurai, In fact all these things were prompted by Sri Periyavar himself to disclose the secrets about the great guru Sri Thulasidharar as well as Sri Kamala Anandar, the great guru of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal. To bring out ail these things Sri Periyavar made me to request him to arrange the lectures in Thirunagar in Madurai where I lived. So after obtaining permission from Sri Periyavar on rny trip to Madurai I contacted 2 or 3 persons whom I knew very well. One was a Press owner, a popular figure of that locality. Another was one proffessor who had the power of intuition and would tell all things merely by seeing the face of a man. When I opened the topic to the friend the press ownerr, his reply was in negative'. He told me that only recently Sri Sankarachariar of Karchipuram had visited the place and he would not have any other perrson of whom he had no knowledge. To this I extended an invitation to all of them who wish to have an experience for themselves. They agreed and accordingly two of them came to Krishnagiri Dam and were my guests. I also sent word about the arrival of the guests to Sri Periyavar at the Nilayam. Sri.Periyarar along with his maternal uncle and others came to Dam. We had a boat trip in the Dam water. Here a wonder occurred. Altogether we were 7 persons when I purchased 8 tickets for the boat journey. So, also in the lunch I had ordered and prepared leaves for 8 persons whereas we were 7 persons For this Sri .Periyavar explained that his guru Sri Thulasidasar was also present with us invisible to all. Yet his presence was felt by all since vibration of his presence was so fascinating. All of us experienced a strange feeling. All were happy which could not be explained in words.

After the lunch we visited also Aanmeega Nilayam at Krishnagiri. The guests were much pleased and they promised to fix a date for the lecture by Sri. Periyavar in Thirunagar, Madurai. Accordingly the dates for the lecture were fixed on May 2!, 22 and 24,1997(Three days). Episode 40 - First Day Lecture : On the appointed day Sri. Periyavar came by bus from Krishnagiri to Madurai. The press owner and myself went to receive the party. There they were accommodated in a separate house with all facilities comfortably. All were sitting on a carpet. Then the professor came to see Sri Periyavar, I introduced Sri. Periyavar to the professor. Then Sri. Periyavar just left us to have a bath. I casually asked the professor who had power of intuition, simply, by seeing the face. What was his opinion of Sri. Periyavar? His reply was HE IS UNFATHUMABLE AND THERE IS NO YARDSTICK TOMEASURE HIM. So was the spiritual. person of Sri. Periyavar. Though he looks as a normal being with mediocore he was really unfathomable indeed. He used to be a friend to all; yet he was very far away from the normal way of thinking as well as values of ordinary worldly life. W'e asked the guests to take rest and went to arrange for the seating arrangement for the Dias and other items. Here I have to make a mention originally the avenue was the temple. The erstwhile Principal of lvladurai Arts College who was also an honorary head of an educational institution by name Anandha Matriiculation school in Thirunagar.He offered to accommodate and conduct the lectures in his premises. As that was vacation period all the halls as well as other facilities were easily available, So, we accepted the offer but the reason was not known. Only later we came to know of this. Sri Periyavar informed all of us after the first day,s meeting was over. Episode:41 One word about the place of meeting : It was a place where elite audience well placed in society with high responsibilities. In fact some of them were ready to put the guest Sri Periyavar to

test by asking many question and put him in an awkward position. But I knew very well that Sri Periyavar though young in age would face any situation bravely. So did it happen. Contrary to the expectation of all who wanted to put question to Sri Periyavar, got replies in his speech itself, which no one expected at an. All were spell bound and the lecture was welcomed by all irrespective of personal likes and dislikes. It was indeed a great thing to face such situation. After the lecture was over, Sri Periyavar gave chance to audience for any clarification in his lecture. To the astonishrment of all nobody came forward to ask any question since all doubts were cleared in the lecture itself. Sri Periyavar gave .Turmeric Powder to all with good thought.. This made them bring others also to hear the lecture. The truth was otherwise. Great Guru of Sri Periyavar Sri Thulasidasar after attaining GNANA wanted to speak out his experience to all. But the whole area was a thick forest without any habitation. After so many thousands of years Sri Periyavar disciple of Sri Thulasidasar was made to give lecture at the same spot where he wanted. This secret was told by Periyavar. Episode - 42 Receiving Karma of the Host : Yet another episode that happened on that day itself was the host who carne to welcome us had already booked a ticket to go to Karur. But on hearing this speech which attracted him very much he decided to cancel his trip. He was with us on all days. Sri Periyavar in his speech had mentioned all who attended the lectures were blessed and those all did not attend the meeting quite eagerly for some reason came by compulsion or just to spend time. Even though all were physically present they would not have equal receptive Capacity. For this, previous karma in the form of, SAMSKARAS does play a great part. Those who are deeply involved are capable of assirnilating all the truth. The host on hearing the lecture was rnerely astonished. All the words in the lectures were taken by hirn as it was said for him.

Sri Periyavar said that he would take the Karma of the host. Then he asked when he was a devotee of another saint how he can allow his karma to be taken by another sadhu? For this I told him there was no difference between sadhus and it was permissible. Then when I remarked casually "My telegram has worked the host was astonished to hear the same words that were used in the book *THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI BY SRI MAHAN PARMAHAMSA Yoganandha. I replied that I had read the book many times. At lat the host accepted the offer made by Sri Periyavar for taking his karma with him. Episode 43 2nd Days lecture : May 22'nd 1947 Lecture at Tirunagar The discourse time was from 6 PM to 8 PMI. So in the morning there was enough time to spare. Suddenly Sri Periyavar asked me whether we could go to the samadhi of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal. Immediately I made arrangement with the help of our host. Three cars were arranged apart from the guests from Krsihnagiri other also came. Of them the professor and a regional agent for Nutrient sweets were with us. First we all went to the place where Lord Vinayagar was sitting under the peepal tree. On reaching there I explained where Sri Muniyandiya's great guru Sri Kamalandhar gave dharshan to our Swamy. Suddenly Sri Periyavar said that his guru and Sri' Muniyandi Swamigal's guru where the same. But at different ages of which Sri Thulasidhasar guru of Sri Periyavar was the senior. Then he explained that the idol of Sri Vinayagar was installed by his guru Sri Thulasidasar before so many ages. All of a sudden another person the Regional Manager for Nutrient sweet began to weep like a child and told us that he had some connection with this place in his previous births. As his association with this place was so close he broke down. Sri Periyavar immediately consoled him and said all are in someway or other are connected with this place in the previous births. So all had come to re- live the experience.

I showed the samdhi palces of Sri Kamalanandhar the great guru of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal as Sri Periyavar already located this place. Firstly Sri Muniyandi Swamigal was given dharshan by Sri. Kamalandhar when he was a boy rearing the cows for gracing. I took all of them to the PEEDAM of the Gooddess Vadakathiaalnrnan .The place where i had so many experiences with our Swamy of which I had already narrated elsewhere. Sri Periyavar sat for meditation for sometime and explained to us that even to that day great sadus are in tapas at the same spot. Thus we spent the morning, usefully in the company of Sri Periyavar and returned to Tirunagar for lunch. At the evening lecture Sri Periyavar gave an extempore and all were attracted. I heard a part of audience telling that the period of lecture was so short and they requested to extend the stay of Sri Periyavar. But Sri Periyavar who had other engagement could not do so. So all so the second day the lecture was well attended. Sri Periyavar at the end of the lecture asked that anybody who wanted any clarification might do so by contacting him by letters. Many people did benefit by such advice given by Sri Periyavar. Episode:44 Final Day of Lecure : On the 3'd day of discourse also the attendance was maximum, As mentioned earlier some .of them clarified their doubts with Sri Periyavar. All were attracted by the mere look, pleasing manners and words coming out of his mouith from the depth of his heart. Thus the trip to Madurai as planned by Sri Periyavar ended very successfully and was an eye opener for many in their spiritual path. Further, that gave good opportunities to expose many hidden secrets of his. master as well as Sri Muniyandi Swamigal. Episode: 45 Experience of the Host: Even after the discourse for three days the connection between the host as \veil as his family were much attached to Sri Periyavar. At one time the housewife had an unbearable headache. Then I was told by her that she mentally prayed to Sri Periyavar and she got

relief by hearing the voice of Sri Periyavar as if by phone in her ears "the same would be stopped soon?,. That lady was relieved of the headache. Thought power of Sri Periyavar travels in a very high frequency more than that of even light year speed. Only experience can tell us how it occurred. I have already narrated about the experience one pregnant lady had after her head touching the PEEDAM where Sri Periyavar lectured. This helped her to recover from the unconscious stage by timely getting food and water. Epiosode: 46 Sale of Plot: I had an idea to construct a house in Tirunagar for which I gave some advance. But all of a sudden I had to conduct my first daughter's marriage. So I had to dispose of the plot. Sri Periyavar who knew this immediately decided to come over to Madurai to settle the issue. But to my surprise even before he started from Krishnagiri the issue was settled without any loss to me- I immediately sent a telegram stating the settlement by the blessing of Sri Periyavar. So when one of his devotees is at difficultly Sri Periyavar steps in to help him. Episode: 47 My transfer to Tiruvannamalai: Sri Periyavar one day told me that I was to be transferred and to be posted In charge of a division. I told him that I was not interested since such a posting would be a great headache from the political people. I could not do justice because of the interference of the party men. But Sri Periyavar said that I had to go as per laws of the karma. Then he asked me to which place I wanted posting. I requested, either to be detained here or to be posted to Madurai District where my family was put up. For this he said Wont you go elsewhere?" Thon I replied Sri Periyavar asked me to express my opinion, which I did. And it was left to Sri Periyavar. He told me that I would be posted to Tiruvannamalai Division where I had to discharge a mission. I kept mum. Soon as predicted by Sri Periyavar I was transferred to Tiruvannamalai though my department people at the state level programmed otherwise. Episode:48 At Tiruvannamalai :

This is a great chapter where I had very many spiritual experiences. I had the blessing of yet another sadhu Sri YOGI RAM SURATH KIJMAR or god child of Tiruvannamalai. Earlier in another narration of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal of Rangapalayam, one day he told me that I should accompany him to Poondi in Tiruvannamalai District. It was near Kalasapakkam. Even though I could not physically accompany him in my very first visit before taking charge of division a friend of mine took me to have a dharsan of SRI POONDI MAIIAN OR AATHU SWAMIYAR. This happened as predicted by our Sri Muniyandi Swamigal. Episode: 49 With Sri Poondi Mahan : Before taking official charge of the division i had to meet the District Collector at Vellore. on our way as suggested by my friend, I went to have the blessing of Sri Poondi Mahan. I immediately thought of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal who wanted to accompany me to this place. As usual I went with fruits and flowers. He was sitting on the Verandah of a house. I was told that he was taken from the river where be was meditating under the heap of sand. when some one was digging they met with head of the sadhu bleeding. So he was taken out and was placed in front of house. From that day onwards he was sitting on the same spot. On seeing me he just laughed. He uttered NALLATHU NALLATHU (Good, Good). I prostrated before him and he blessed me. He gave me some fruits from the heap before him. All around him there were heaps of fruits lying there days together without even a single fruit getting rot. Yet another miracle was that he never took bath for days together but there was no bad smell emitting from his surroundings or from his body. It took the blessing of sadhu and proceed to Vellore to meet collector. It was really a good beginning for me to get the blessing of the great sadhu and it was really golden period as for as my spiritual life was concerned . As per Sri Muniyandi Swamigals wish I got the darshan of this great saint also thereby his words were kept up even after 7 years.

Episode 50 : Meeting of Swamiji Sri Yogiram Surat Kumar On the same day after reporting for duty to collector I had another pleasant surprise. I went to the temple to have dharshan with my friend. Even at the entrance I got the dharshan of the great YOGI in the form of YOGI RAM SURAT KUMAR of whom I have already made mentioned. My friend told me that the saint was standing before us. Though his outward appearance was shabby with a soiled dress and turban on his head with the coconut shell, Palmyra fan in his hand, he was a great yogi. His look was so pleasing. I had a good fortune to be under his shade, nay even now. I prostrated before him. My friend introduced me to him as a person to take charge of this division. Then the sadhu asked me mentioning my name whether I was the same person who has translated the book by Sri Periyavar of Krishnagiri entitled DEVELOPMENT OF THOUGHT ON TIIE SPIRITUAL PATH. Then he: said the English translation was good. I humbly acknowledged the encomium given to me by a person not known to me at all. He said that he saw the boot from yet another friend who was my predecessor. From that day onwards I had contact with this great sadhu. Episode:51 : Biksha by me to Sri Swamyji The next day I took some food for him. He willingly accepted that. So I made a point to get food for the sadhu in the morning and evening. In the morning I would take chapattis with dhal or subji and for the night rice gruel or kangi which he relished much. To this our shadu put a condition that the food should be cooked and brought only by the family members and not by any other person. I willingly accepted the same and I had good fortune do to so for one whole year till I served in that district. We cannot say that the sadhu would accept the food. At times he would send away my children who took food for him, saying that he did not require food. On such occasion my daughters would come and cry that Sri Slvamiji hadi not taken that food. We would console them that he has blessed it and that would be a sign of acceptance.

On Pongal Day I took food myself to the sadhu .He was away and I was waiting for him. Then I was talking to the neighbour. The sadhu came there all of a sudden and refused to accept the food since I was in conversation. I entreated very much, and simply broke down and cried. Sri Swamjii taking pity on me accepted food with smile on his face Episode:52 : Experience with Swamiji During my stay in that division, there are very many episodes, nay even after leaving the place. During my tenure, I would visit the sadhu daily and he was kind to me. He would ask me if there were any special progranrme. I used to tell all such situations and sadhu would bless me My father is with you. Though I had to meet very trying circumstances all were overcome with great ease with the blessing of Sri Swamyji. Episode 53 : My meeting with Sri Periyavar and Sri Swamiji After joining the new station I came to Krishnagiri to meet Sri Periyavar with whom I spent one whole year. Not only that, I was transferred to Tiruvannamalai only on his blessings. I informed him about the meeting of the sadhu at Poondias well as the sadhu at Tiruvannamalai. Then I proceeded to Madurai to bring my family to the new station Episode:54 Arrangements for meeting of both Sadhus During my next trip to Krishnagiri Sri Periyavar expressed his desire to meet Sri Yogi Ram Surath Kumar of Tiruvannamalai. In fact the very idea of posting me to Tiruvannamalai was to arrange the meeting of great saint apart from spreading of the message of Aanrnega Nilayam to the nook and corner of that district. Episode:55 Meeting of our Sri Periyavar with Sri Swamyji Whenever I met Swamyji in Tiruvannamalai,I used to narrate my experiences which Sri Muniyandi Swamigal of Rengapalayamin

Madurai Dist., as well as Sri Periyavar Ramamoorthyji of Krishnagiri. When I expressed the idea of Sri Periyavar to meet Swamij .He said that he was quiet willing and I can go ahead with the same. Accordingly I iinformed Sri Periyavar. The meeting of these two personalities was indeed very memorable episode. As mentioned the date was fixed for the meeting and it was arranged at the Unnamulai Amman Lodge where all were accommodated. They came by 5 PM. By 7 PM Sri Periyavar asked me to enquire Sri Yogi Ram Surat Kumar when they could come and meet him. But before that Sri Swamiji himself came to lodge all of a sudden to meet Sri Periyavar. I formally introduced both of them They held their hands tightly for some time. Then all were seated. Sri Periyavar introduced the members one by one. With them his parents, his uncle, Sri Perumal Raju and Mrs Mahalakshnni, Sri Ramesh his friend also had come. A Musl irn lady also came with them. The reason why I mentioned the name here had a bearing in this episode. Sri Swamyji with the pleasant smile welcomed them ail. The meeting of this great man was for three days and all were together for those days and nights. The whole atmosphere in the room was charged with spiritual vibrations and that kept all waking through out night and day. ' Episode: 56 Dharshan of Sri Kamalananthar in the form of Donkey In the meantime Sri Swamrji asked me to repeat my experiences with Sri Muniyandi Swamigal of Rengaplayam. When I mentioned the episode of dharshan of the great guru Sri Kamalandhar or Thatha Swamy Guru of Sri Muniyandi Swamigal, he asked me to repeat the same thrice. Then he explained the significance of dharshan of great guru in the form of donkey. The saints act as the carriers of the sin of the devotees and got them purified. For us the donkey is the only beast of burden to carry the soiled clothe to the river and get it washed by the washer man. But the real significance as explained by Sri Swamiji do carry with it great secrets which is not known to ordinary man. Episode 57 True Bakthi of a Baktha

At one stage Sri Swamiji narrated the story of Baktha Sri Udhanna and how lord himself came to serve the devotee. Sri Periyavar explained that the Bakthi was the great gift and if only one is devoted to lord he will come and help in any form. Then Sri Swamij enquired the Muslim lady whether she could follow the narration in English. Sri Periyavar came forward to translate the same in Tamil. Sri Swamyji thanked Sri Periyavar for the same. Sri Srvamyji told the lady that God is always with us. He is ready to help the deserving. This he explained in Hindi. Episode: 58 Total Surrender to God Sri Swamji asked Mrs. Mahalakshmi to sing the song by Sri Bharathiyar in which Lord Krishna came in the form of servant and helped the devotee. Then he told her she should not be found sleeping when Lord comes to her. The real sense was Lord will come in any form at any time and one should be prepared to accept him whenever he comes and whatever form he takes. During the meeting Mrs. Mahalaxmi asked Sri Swamyji whether he could accept her offering of food in the form prasadam. Sri Swamyji said that she can place the food in front of his photo and all that was given with sincerity and sradha would be accepted. Here Sri Periyavar explained the significance of photo just as the body represents the soul so all so any food offered to the photo would be the same as offered to the soul. As in "Bagavath Geetha" all items if offered to Lord with full devotion and sincerity however small it may be or in whichever form may be it would be accepted by Lord. So that meeting of two great saints did really brought many such episodes, which cannot be forgotten with any lapse of time. Apart from the physical presence the spiritual vibrations was such that the episode would be forever. Further I have to mention here that I have the photograph as well as the audiocassette, which are kept as sacred records by me. On seeing, on hearing them I re-live experience I had in ail its splendor and holy experience. Episode: 59 AT Sri Swamyjis Residence

One day all went to the house of Swamyji who gave us warn welcome. Then he told us the episode of Sri Periyavar in his official life as in the case of Sri Ramadas. So Guru comes for the help of the devotee irrespective of time and the situation. Episode: 60 Discourses in Hamlets by Sri Periyavar Earlier before my posting to Tiruvannamalai I had stated that Sri Periyavar had a mission to be fulfilled through me and that was why I was posted to Tiruvannamalai division. Apart from the meeting of the great living Saint Sri Yogi Ram Surath Kumarji and Sri Periyavar we had yet another work. It was arranged for the lecture in almost all the remote villages, hamlets of this division For with the blessings of Sri Periyavar I would make an attempt. This helped the poor and deserving people of this area to have glimpse as well as the benefit of hearing the sweet voice of Sri Periyavar. This has proved very much beneficial to many people of this rural area in this region. Of them many had connections with Sri Periyavar for so many years even after this. All the lectures in the remote villages were equally important from the point of view of spiritual and material l benefit enjoyed by them. I have mentioned some outstanding places, which made landmark in the rural area. Here I have to mention that for all the discourses a caravan of vehicles used to follow Sri Periyavar's car. There were jeeps, cars, pick up van, motor bikes and all kinds of two wheelers in this procession. Every one would wonder that some VIP at the state level had come to that area. Even though Sri Periyavar did not wish to have any publicity his lectures were heart felt and there were instances from the people belonging to police department were attracted by his simplicity as well as his speeches that came from the depth of his heart. Yet another feature was that from one village to another the news spread. So the whole area was vibrating with the spiritual thought of Sri Periyavar as well as the melodious and sincere words of Sri Periyavar.

Episode: 61 At Polur In this place there is a samdhi of Sri Mahan Vittoba whose departure from this world was proclaimed even from Tiruvannamalai by Sri Mahan Seshdriswamigal "Vitoba jora poraan. Sri Periyavar gave lecture on the samadhi premises itself and the subject was Call of the Soul. He described at length about the greatness of the saint who hails from the family of tailors and spiritually he united many .souls with god by his spiritual powers. Sri Periyavar disclosed many secrets about this saint which was not known to public. Episode: 62 Vettavalam : . While lecturing, Sri Periyavar stressed the importance of this temple and also about the "Emarald Lingam" a very rare one whose spiritual vibrations would ward off the suffering of many who solely depend upon him. , So also the lecture was the out come of the call of the siddha pursha who attained Samadhi in that places a very long back. Episode: 63 At Tiruvannamalai Sri Periyavar's address was on the subject..Call of the soul,. Lord Shiva who proved the supremacy among the Thirumoorthies by taking the visvaroopa had made him to lecture there. He trusted the importance of the pilgrim center, which attracted many foreigners who spent their vacation in India as well as in Pondichery. Many great souls unseen by people are still doing tapas here. This adds to the spiritual vibration. Sri Periyavar stressed on the importance of KARTHIKAI DEEPAM" the center of attraction of not only the human beings but also DEVAS, GANDHARVAS, KIMPURSHA and other great rishis. Episode: 64 At Thurinjapuram At the lecture here Sri Periyavar disclosed the importance of the Prasadam. One should never ask anything to God since he is prepared to give everything even without asking. Yet another future in the function was that here very many people from neighboring

villages thronged together and clammer Sri Periyavar to come and purify their area also. Episode: 65 Usaambaadi : In this village there were many Mirasudhars who did not take much pains on spiritual life. But the lecture given by Sri Periyavar was the turning point in their life. This was clearly seen that even after many years they came to have dharshan of Sri Periyavar in other places also. Episode:66 - Chengam The lecture given by Sri Periyavar had an embalming effect of unity of religions- As mentioned previously an explosive situation was averted with the help of the photo of Sri Periyavar. The divisional officer who had the photo of Sri Periyavar was helpful to control the furious mob. All remained calm. Episode:67 Aanaaipiranthan : Here another sadhu who was a doctor resided in the hermitage. Sri Periyavar used to visit this place whenever he came to Tiruvannamalai. Here also Sri Periyavar gave a lecture on the subject Call of the Soul. Villagers from the neighbouring hamlets and even from Tirukoilur attended the discourse. Episode: 68 Vellore Sri Periyavar at the request of the local people accepted the offer to lecture. It was quiet rainy. All have arrived. The local V.I.P, a retired D.S.P also came to witness that. why I am emphasizing on this point was that, a man who had no faith in God came to have a past time. I knew him previously. He asked me where is your Sri Periyavar who is to give the lectures today? I simply pointed Sri Periyavar who was already sitting on the Dias. To this D.S.P. (Retired) remarked that after all he is a small boy like my grand child and I do not know what he would talk on the spiritual subject." I simply replied .wait and see,.

Sri Periyavar began his speech and the DSP (Retd.) was overwhelmed with sentiment and he was weeping like a child. At the end of the lecture he apologized for his earlier remark. He informed all including Sri Periyavar that he heard very many lectures during his official carrier including Sri Karnaraj. Yet none affected him so much as that of Sri Periyavar. 'He did 'Saashtaanga Namaskaram to Sri Periyavar and pleaded to forgive his innocence. Such was the speech that it touched the heart of the listeners and it was not verbose or jugglery of words. The voice came from the depth of his heart after the matured experience he had. From this episode onwards DSP (Retd) became an ardent disciple of Sri Periyavar and through him very many big persons VIP of Katpaadi and other places came to get the blessing of Sri Periyavar at the Aanmeega Nilayam at Krishnagiri. Here I have to make a special mention about the lecture of Sri Periyavar-Unlike others he never prepared for any talk. In fact for a certain lecture, a person who accompanied Sri Periyavar for all the meetings asked him whether he had not prepared any script or note on the subject? To this Sri Periyavar replied that why should I prepare? My Master is talking through me. So I need not bother about that. So also for all lectures Sri Periyavar never made any preparation at all. All the while he would be giving dharshan and some advises. He would attend the lecture off hand. Spontaneously indeed even for the radio talk at Pondicherry and Madras. He never prepared any script. In fact office in charge of audition enquired his superior whether Sri Periyavar had the script but the head of the office, the station director simply replied that there was no such thing and he was instructed to take Sri Periyavar's lectures. At the end of his recording the same officer and. the subordinate mentioned to me that the frequency of the speech usually in mike would be fluctuating. But in the ease of Sri Periyavar's talk from the very beginning to the end it was the same frequency. A rare

opportunity in the annals of recording. Such was the eloquence and the mode of Sri Periyavar's lecture. It attracted all, irrespective of caste, creed, and nationality. The lecture of Sri periyavar was unique much different from others. Episode:69 At Sholingar The lectures of Sri Periyavar given in and around Tiruvannamalai had attracted the people even at Sholingar, the famous place for Lord Narashima. At this lecture another strange episode happened. An officer who had not much interest also came with us for the lecture. It seems he had some question to Sri YOGI RAM SURATH KUMAR of Tiruvannamalai and some one told him that he would get a reply within a week. But on that day the officer came with us to the lecture at Sholingar. Even at the outset in his lecture Sri Periyavar had replied to question of the officer who put the question to the Godchild of Tiruvannamalai . He was not able to reconcile. He asked the question to Swamy but he replied thorough Sri Periyavar, which he never expected .At the end of lecture the officer informed of this fact and he enquired Sri Periyavar how he gave the reply, which was put to Sri Swamyji at Tiruvannamalai ? Sri Periyavar simply laughed. The fact in this case was Sri Swamyji was aged. Whereas Sri Periyavar was very young and it is really wonder how one gets reply from very different persons and places. The reply would be that all saints are one and the same, and even though there is vast difference of age, tirne and distance all are connected - Suthrai Mani Gani Iva. The same officer then came to Krishnagiri when he got answer from the PEEDAM where Sri Periyavar sits. I had already dealt in detail of this earlier. Episode:70 Near Death Experience For the same officer of whom I men-tioned above had yet another very strange experience. His son who was in Katpaadi had put his cloth on a stay wire on the previous night. So he got up in the early morning and he pulled them out from stay wire, which he had put for

drying. But to his bad luck he got electrocuted due to leakage on the wire. Accordingly to the statement given by the boy he fell unconscious and in fact life had departed from his body. He had a NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE a very rare experience. Even modern science could not throw tight on it. We were told that soul leaving the body on the ground was rising up in great speed. But alt of a sudden some spiritual force brought him back to life. The boy with his father came to Krishnagiri and explained himself all about this episode. To this Sri Periyavar simply smiled and for a true devotee time and distance is not at all a bar. Only thing we have to do is to SURRENDER to the Master TOTALLY without any reservation. Only then lie could help one to free himself from the bondage of karma. In this Kaliyuga there is no other method to get away from the birth and death cycles. Episode:71 Release of Book by Sri Periyavar Sri Periyavar wanted a book entitled ATHEEGAM and NATIIEEGAM was to be released on Sri Rama Navami Day. For this Swamyji had written the blessing as follows. "Those who read the book by Sri Periyavar is very near and dear to my father and would get the blessings of Lord". Sri Swamyji received the first copy of the book on that occasion. Episode:72 Meeting with Sri Sadhu Saidas There was yet another sadhu in the nearby village of Aanaai Piranthan. Sri Periyavar used to visit the hermitage also. On one ocasion Sri Periyavar was the chief guest. A lady who accompanied him also was given the same privilege. So also if any one who accompanies Sri Periyavar could get a very good reception. . Episode: 73 Relief from Head Ache There was a lady north Indian who lived in Tiruvannamalai. One time she invited Sri Periyavar to her residence and she was relived of pain in her head which troubled her for a very long period. She extended an invitation to Sri Periyavar to come and stay at the big out

house and Sri Periyavar politely turned down the proposal stating that he would act only on the instructions of his Master. Episode:74 Conduct of Thirukkural Function The local people made elaborate arrangements for the function. But we had very heavy rains and all the arrangements were in vein. Added to this, the local authority proclaimed the section 144, which prevented the holding of any public function. But the organizer who had experience with Sri Periyavar immediately proceeded to Krishnagiri and entreated Sri Periyavar to come and bless the successful completion of the function. Sri Periyavar willingly accepting the invitation just arrived on Tiruvannamalai on the previous night. To the astonishment of all, with the arrival of Sri Periyavar that was also withdrawn allowing the said function to be conducted without any impediment. So all so the rain which was lashing stopped all of a sudden when Sri Periyavar stepped on the platform just to have a look of the arrangement made. Thus a function threatened by nature as well as local authority could be conducted with unexpected success to the great surprise of all. In fact that was the talk of the town for some davs. Episode: 75 College Students Strike Averted Yet another episode that made a landmark in the annals of Tiruvannamalai was that of the dramatic stop of the strike by the college students. In fact there was also a law and order problem averted at the appropriate time by the presence of two great saints who were also the revered masters of the head of the institution. It also happened that the strike by the college students was vehernent and furious that they threatened to blow of movable properties. The Principal's pleading were of no avail. So as last resort he sought the blessings of them and wanted the presence of Sri Periyavar there with whom he had experience. But on that day there was a bus strike and there was no transport facilities at all. But Sri Periyavar decided to come to Tiruvannamalai. To the surprise of all one bus that had to be brought to

Tiruvannamalai terminus was to be started. So the driver called for those willing, may come with him. Sri Periyavar with his relatives boarded on the bus and came to Tiruvannamalai to the surprise of alt. A room in Unnarnalai Amman Lodge was also booked for Sri Periyavar and I was waiting for the arrival of Sri Periyavar. There Sri Ram Surath Kumar also came. He suddenly asked me to get the copy of Sri Bhagavath Geetha. He asked me to read the fifth sloka of 156 chapter. Where in it has been stated 'That those relieved of all likes.and dislikes, those shadu who are unattached to rvorldly objects are really relived of all the effects of Good and Bad. So nothing could affect them'. So all so Sri Periyavar would soon come as .decided. Just then Sri Periyavar stepped into our room. Meanwhile Sri Yogi Ram Surah Kumarji asked me to be in contact with the principal to know the situation there. On the arrival of Sri Periyavar I phoned up to the principal .At that moment he was addressing the students to call off the strike. Al1 the striking students accepted this appeal, blessed by the two saints. The authorities not at all expected this, But the student called off the strike and attended the classes. The principal immediately came to the lodge where Sri Periyavar and Sri Swamyjii were put up and prostrated before them for all their kindness and blessings without any reservation, This could not have happened at all. All of us were much blessed by the presence of bath the great saints. This episode was a surprise to the public of Tiruvannamalai, which otherwise would have ended in bloodshed, destruction to public property and causing of law and order problem. So such a situation was averted. Episode:76 Ulundoorpet Begger Home During his trip to the rural area to remote hamlets Sri. Periyavar one day happened to pass through the beggar home. He asked me to arrange for a meeting there. Accordingly I met the superintendent of the home and sought a date. I informed Sri. Periyavar well in advance. So during his trip to Tiruvannamalai camp he expressed the desire to have visit that home in the morning. For this the officer in charges had made a special arrangements by petting, a barricade to accommodate the leprosy patients inside and a separate stage was

put up for Sri. Periyavar to deliver the lecture. But to the surprise of all Sri Periyvar instead of sitting in the arrangement made for him he sat among the patients. The officer in charge was in. a dilemma since he did to sit with them. While sitting with them he began the lecture. Even at the outset he said that they were ail indebted to God since there was no one to disturb them from doing any activity like bakthi towards God. To this statement some of them protested they were not blessed by the God instead they were punished to be for away from other people. For this, Sri. Periyavar replied that even though he himself was ready to come out of the house his relatives did not allow him. So his activities were restrained unlike the members of the home. There was none to prevent them from preventing them to think, speak and act of God Almighty. He also explained to them the value of NAMAJAPA which was the suitable remedy for all ailments in .KALIYUGA At this juncture one inmate stood up and told Sri Periyavar that he was a Baktha,of Lord Muruga before coming to this home. He used to go to Palani every year. Even in spite of all Bakthi he was cursed with this disease. To this Sri Periyavar explained to him that only because of the past karma he had to suffer and as he was now very much attached to God all his sin would be washed away and now he would be ready to be accepted by the Lord Muruga. For that he should not feel sorry. According to natures law all Karmas have to be under gone - Good and bad. one has to work out his karma by submitting himself to Lord. Episode:77 Experiences in Vridhachalam As mentioned, I took it as my duty to spread the message of Sri .Periyavar wherever I was transferred. so also from Tiruvannamalai I was transformed to Vridhachalam as Divisional Officer. Whenever I got time I used to tell about Sri .Periyavar to my friends. Through them I was able to arrange for the lectures of Sri.Periyavar in the rural areas. Episode 78 Lecture in Vridhachalam

On a festival clay a lecture was arranged at Vridhachalam itself. This place is spiritually honored by the Jeeva Samadhi of Sri Mahan PAMBATTISWAMIGAL a great sidha pursha. Here also the subject was "Call of,the Soul". The lecture was well attended and there was good feedback also in the later vears. Episode:79 At Kolanjiappar Koil Here also there is the Samdhi of a sadhu and the lecture by Sri. Periyavar nrainly dealt with Siddha purusha with whose Spiritual powers, templle became famous. Here I got the clearance for the script containing the experiences at Tiruvannamalai between Sri Periyavar and Sri Swamiji. Episode:80 Sri Periyavars Birthday In Kolinjiappar koil yet another incident happened on a latter date. It was the birthday of Sri .Periyavar. I went to have dharshan with lunch and new clothes for him. But Sri Periyvar had already left even by 11 AM and the people there informed me that he did not say anything before he left that place. I also waited for his arrival. He came by 2.30 PM and informed me that he went for meditation and sat on the hot sand till 2 PMI as per the direction of his master. Then he took the lunch as rvell as the new clothes presented by me. Episode:81 Fiat Car Wading Through Flood water On that evening we had a programme at Thiagadhurgam. So we started by my car for that function. On the way there was a very strong smell of sandal perfume. But no one had any such things with us in the car. When I asked about it Sri .Periyavar told me that his master's presence was there and hence the good smell. We reached a submergible bridge on our way to the place where lecture was to be held. Here we were confronted with a problem. The situation was that due to the heavy rains on the previous night there was a breach in the big tank and so the main road was flooded with the water up to the knee deep. There we saw a loaded lorry washed away overturned and fell on one side of the road.

The driver said that our car couldn't pass through the knee deep of flooded water with force. Just in front of our car a boy with a stick was showing the way out in the floodwater running with great velocity. The lorry driver told us that we should not take this venture since even his heavy loaded vehicle was washed away by the velocity of the running water. He said that our car with only 3/4 foot clearance would not wade through the fast flowing water. Sri Periyavar asked the car driver to start the car and it was led by the boy with a stick in his hand showing our way. We could cross the current without any difficulty. On reaching the other end without even a drop of water inside the car nor any damage to the engine, the boy who led us the way also vanished. Sri Periyavar immediately informed that HIS MASTER had come in the guise of the boy and led us the way. He also informed us that if anyone totally surrenders to his master he would surely be saved from the "RIVER OF LIFE to the other end of "MOKSHA" by the master. So this episode had taught a lesson for my life. It was really a very strange feat to cross a fast flowing flood water by a Fiat car having very limited clearance without a drop of water entering into the car or stopping the engine while doing so,. There are other episodes connected with this vehicle all by the grace of Sri .Periyavar of whom I shall narrate at the appropriate time. On reaching our destination we entered the temple premises where the lecture was arranged. It was indeed a very pleasant experience to us after over coming the hurdles in the form of flooded water. Episode 82 - Car Episodes: a . change of car Tyre Sri Periyavar took a pilgrimage to the southern states of Tamil Nadu in a fiat car. At the commencement of the journey at Thozhudhur while checking the air for the wheel one was very badly damaged and that could not be used any further. So an alternate tyre was put into use. Then Sri Periyavartold the driver that for the whole journey only that tyre should be used. In fact that was also equally bad. The

vehicle had traveled many kilometers in all kinds of terrain including hill tracks. But the tyre, which was so worn out, could stand all the strain throughout the journey. Not only that, even after three months I used the same tyre without any difficulty. So the words of Sri Periyavar had such miraculous power that made the worn out car tyre to run for such long time and distance. b. An accident Averted At one point Sri Periyavar during his pilgrimage had to pass a stretch of road which was washed away by rainwater. There was a big pit formed in the middle of the road filled with water. So it was not easily seen and recognized that there was a pit there. The driver was coming at a high speed. Suddenly Sri Periyavar touched the shoulders of the driver from the rear seat cautioning him to stop. The driver immediately stopped the car. Then I was told by the driver he was asked to get clown from his seat to see the condition of the road. Then to the utter surprise of the driver he found the big pit In the middle of the road filled with water. Had he come at the same speed the car would have met with a major accident. Sri Periyavar averted this by timely warning the driver. The other occupants of the car who had camera had taken a photo of this place, which is available with me. c. Car without fuel from Tiruchendur to Krishnagiri Yet another episode much more fascinating was that happened on their return journey. At one point when Sri Periyavar was in trance in the rear seat of. the car, The driver informed that there was no petrol. But to Sri Periyavar it was heard that there was no water in the radiator. So he asked the driver to use the water from the hand pump on the roadside. The driver who had never a second thought on this implicitly obeyed. He filled the petrol tank with water and they returned to Krishnagiri without fuel but only with water. On reaching the Nilayam at Krishnagiri the driver was describing with great surprise that the vehicle had come without a drop of petrol but with

only water used as directed by Sri Periyavar. This has also been narrated in one of his books by Sri Periyavar. d. Returning of the Driver alone: After he dropped Sri Periyavar at Krishnagiri the driver had to return to Vridclhaohalam alone. He was afraid of driving the car alone in the midnight without anybody's company. so he expressed his fear to Sri Periyavar. To that he was told that Periyavar would accompany him. The driver was coming without any fear. All the while he heard the voice of Sri Periyavar from the rear seat but he was told not to turn back and see the rear seat. He reached the junction of Viddhachalam and S0em road. Suddenly the voice of Sri Periyavar stopped. Then he traveled the remaining distance. On arrival in Vriddachalam the driver narrated to me this incidence. So Periyavar is always with those who trust whole heartedly without any reservation. Episode:83 At Cuddalore Sri Periyavar had a lecture in Cuddalore town itself. It was arranged in the open theatre in the Municipal Park. The lecture was well attended' Among others the Municipal commissioner and PA to Collector attended. At the end of the lecture Sri .Periyavar invited questions or any clarification on the subject of lecture. The Municipal Commissioner who was my friend asked one pertinent question Sri Periyavar in his lecture had told that all karmas should be done without any expectations. For example even during prayer to God or when you go to a temple you should not expect anything in return for your prayer. My friend, the Commissioner asked Sri .Periyavar that all the slokas in the praise of Lord there was a Palastruthi i.e., if anyone repeats the mantras or slokas for so many times he would get such and such a beneficial results. He asked whether this do not contradict the statement of Sri Periyavar in his lecture. To this Sri Periyavar replied it is not so. The recitation of slokas was only like a bite we give to the child to attend the school. At the initial stages it is quite necessary to get involved in the process of Bakthi with Lord. After some time when one gets the experiences he would

not bother about the result. He would resign himself to the dictum: . DUTY IS THY CONCERN AND FRUIT IS NOT THY CONCERN. So at the initial stages just as a child before learning to walk uses go-cart to learn the art of walking so also the baktha at the early step is helped to get into involvement. The Palasruthi is the beginning and not end in itself. Episode:84 The act of other religious people Yet another episode happened that day. some persons who belonged to R.S.S came and complained to Sri Periyavar that some others belonging to other religious faiths were not only abusing our gods but their action like putting garlands of chappals do wound the feelings of Hindus. To this Sri Periyavar said that the HINDU religion will be able to protect by itself and one cannot do any harm to it. That had faced many onslaughts of invasion of all kinds of faiths yet it survives, is a pertinent fact. Such people who think and act otherwise would come to their senses and repent for their action. Retaliation is not the remedy for such act. Episode:85 At Pondicherry The next morning Sri Periyavar had a programme to be recorded at the A.I.R, Pondichery. For this I had obtained the permission of the Station Director whom I met on his official work at Kallakuruchi previously. I had already narrated about this. Episode 86 At Sankarapuram Sri Periyavar gave a lecture at the temple premises of Sankarapuram, a remote place. Here also it is a very old temple where a saint samathi is situated. In that spiritual atmosphere Sri Periyavar gave a discourse on the Importance of visiting temple and the power of sincere prayers". He dealt about the efficiency and embalming effect of Bakthi especially in this age Here one person asked about the laws of Karma to which Sri Periyavar replied that all have to face the consequences of his deeds of goods or bad. But with the help of the master one can overcome the result/

Episode 87 At Pattukottai When I was transferred to Pattukottai to the training center I had the fortune to arrange for a lecture there. The Deputy Director (Edu) for Labour also came. Here also Sri Periyavar emphasized on the "DUTY OF EVERYONE" according to his status without expecting any return. Ho would be rewarded without any return. Here another episode happened before going for the lecture. Sri Periyavar would take bath as he thinks that this was also a form of worship and with all inward and outward purity .one should speak of god and on spiritual aspect While he was bathing the Mala he wore on his neck some how or other broke and two pearl beads attached to that fell and could not be traced at all. For this Sri Periyavar remarked, I have 2 pearls mere worthy than those. So I do not bother about losing of the same. He was mentioning about my 4th and 5th daughters who were much attached to Sri Periyavar. They had gone to yathras with Sri Periyavar at their very young age. All by the grace of Sri Periyavar. Episode 88 - Nataraja Temple It was "SIVARATRI DAY". Sri Periyavar along with the Dy.Director (Edu) Labour wing had programmed to go. Here the importance was in a dilapidated temple under the tree. Lord SIVA gave dharsan to a lame baktha who wanted to go to Chidambaram and have dharshan. But the person was very sincere and devoted. Lord Siva came to this lame man and gave dharshan of the Divine Dance there itself which even other Gods or Devas would not get. Such was the spiritual significance of this place. We all were there till midnight. The returning was a problem, as one could not get a transport to come back to Pattukottai, 10Kms from this place. But to our good luck as God sent .we had a van destained to go to Pattukottai and so God was kind enough to give us a lift also. Episode:89 Averted Fire Accident Yet another incident happened on the same day. While myself with Sri Periyavar and others had come to participate in the Pooja at the

sacred place .My wife who was boiling rice caught fire to her sari's end and she. was not aware of that herself. Luckily the maidservant who noticed that immediately put down the fire. To our good luck the fire did not spread and touch her body: Thus she was saved in providential manner. So Sri Periyavar is always with us irrespective of time and distance. If anyone surrenders to him he is ready to accept anyone. Episode:90 At Dharmapuri At Adhiyamankottai, at the request of the local people a lecture was arranged. This is a historic place of the famous king Adhiyaman. Here apart from stressing on the ned of Bhakthi Sri Periyavar explained that mere visiting the temple or putting caste marks on the forehead were not alone the real Bhakthi. One should have purity of mind, word and action and devoid of ego to attain purity. For this the visit to temples and other religious places would help One to equip with the trials and turmoil of life. This would further help him to maintain the equilibrium of mind. Episode:91 Ward of Evil Spirit Yet another incident happened .Sri Periyavar explained that even if one could not preserve the Turmeric Prasad given by him with good thoughts due to some reason or other, the result could be felt. When anyone was given this Prasad naturally this unseen but perceptible result would be working. So the vibrations of good thoughts would naturally begin to work as soon as Sri Periyavar hands over the Prasad to the recipients. Again here a man seized by an evil spirit when got this Prasad he did not accept it and. only after Sri Periyavar put some prasad on his head he came to his senses and accepted the Prasad. Episode:92 At Dharmapuri Town An officer who had some experience with Sri Periyavar at Vridachalam was very eager to meet him at the Nilayam in Krishnagiri. So, both of us started at 8 A.M. But something or other prevented our departure to Krishnagiri. Meantime Sri Periyavar had

decided to go to Saleim via Dharmapuri. But even his starting from Krishnagiri was prevented fur some reasons or other. . But we were able to meet him at Nilayam in Krishnagiri. He explained that a powerful desire of a devotee would even postpone the planned programme. Since both of us were very eager to meet Sri Periyavar it delayed the departure to Salem. While talking to Sri Periyavar my friend mentioned that he was a staunch Christian and he believed in prayers and meditation. For this Sri Periyavar said all people irrespective of religion and other distinctions s were welcomed. Sri Periyavar then explained in detail the real secret of meditation. It really meant the mind getting over the good and bad nature thoughts and even goes beyond them without any idea of having a mind at all. For this state one should not concentrate which only makes the mind to draw unnecessary thoughts and the stillness of mind could not be attained by that concentration. The best way is to submit to God totally the mind as well as the soul which could alone help one to get that state of mind devoid of any kind of thoughts either good or bad .It would lead to stillness with which one can reach the highest of the Bliss. Episode:93 At Marandahalli At times Sri Periyavar makes his devotee to work out a problem. It so happened that at Marandahalli a very fertile area, two mirasudars both devotees of Sri Periyavar were entangled in a land dispute. This reached to the point that each one took up weapons to settle the dispute. At that stage I went even without a progranme. I was just passing through-that village. I wanted to meet a friend of mine. But when I went there it was the same person who was involved in the dispute. On seeing me he exclaimed that Sri Periyavar had averted a catastrophe by sending me here. If you had come late I would be there in the field entering the land dispute, which would only end in bloodshed. t was served meals and I had taken leave of them only by 3 PM. By that time the heat of the problem subsided and the dispute that would

have taken a form of law and order situation was settled amicably. Such was the Cornpassions of Sri Periyavar towards his devotees. Episode:94 3rd Daughters Marriage With the blessings of Sri Periyavar I had arranged for the marriage of my 3rd daughter. As mentioned earlier she had a health problem and that was cleared only by blessings of Sri Periyavar. For conducting the marriage I requested the presence of the Sri Periyavar. As mentioned I had already conduct my 2nd daughter's marria
