Fraser (1870–1954), "November," c.1918 The temperatures have started to drop which may be making some of your plants and shrubs happier and may be making many of your annuals wanting to head off into the sunset having done their duty for the year. Whatever the case, this is the month of change, your grass may turn brown, leaves will begin to drop, all harbingers of the low country winter coming soon. Never fear, now is a good time to start planning your landscape and garden for next year! Tips for the November Gardener Tips for the November Gardener Now is the time to clean up your garden and prepare for our short, but may be cold lowcountry winter. You can still plant shrubs and trees at this point, but select the proper ones to do so. November is probably your last chance to fertilize your trees and shrubs before the winter - so be sure to do so. Clean up the yard so the leaves don't harm your lawn. Mulch your garden beds to keep shrubs warm and healthy throughout the next few months. It is a lovely time to take a step back and see all that you have accomplished throughout the year!
