(I.V. FLUID) IN PLASTIC BOTTLE,IV SET CANNULA AND RELATED

MATERIALS (CODE NO. 1995)There is a huge demand of MedicalPlastics in India and abroad, Many itemscan be produces in this category. Acatheter is a flexible tube made of latex, silicone, or Teflon that can be insertedinto the body creating a channel for thepassage of fluid or the entry of a medicaldevice. For many years, the epidermalcatheters used were plain tubes made ofavai lable industr ial compounds, anddesign was largely based on current need.In the 1950s and early 1960s, a verycommon practice was to cut a suitablelength of industr ial polyvinyl chloride(PVC) or nylon tubing and have it sterilizedwith the other surgical equipment.Nowadays, there are many specializedcatheter designs. For example, specificcatheter designs allow catheters to beused in pulmonary, cardiac (vascular),neonatal, central nervous system, andepidural tissues. Catheters are designedto perform tissue ablation (tissue removal)and even serve as conduits for thermal, optics, and various medical devices. Thethree major types of catheters arecoronary, renal, and infusion. Coronarycatheters are used for angiography (x-ray of blood vessels after injection ofradiopaque substance), angioplasty(altering the structure of a vessel), andultrasound procedures in the heart or inperipheral veins and arteries.

INVESTMENT CASTING(CODE NO.1994)

Ceramic Shell Investment Casting (CSIC)is one of the near net shape castingtechnologies. The process is based onexpendable wax patterns for producingjoint-less moulds that are required for nearnet shape castings. The main differencebetween investment casting and ceramicshel l investment casting is that, in theformer process, before dewaxing the waxpattern, i t is immersed in a refractoryaggregate. Whereas in the ceramic shellinvestment casting, a ceramic shell getsbuil t around the tree assembly throughrepeated dipping of the pattern into slurry(refractory material such as zircon withbinder). After getting the requi redthickness of cross section, the treeassembly is de-waxed. The shell obtained

is further immersed in a refractory coatingand the metal is poured into it. In thisprocess, a wax pattern assembly is firstdipped into a ceramic slurry bath for itsprimary coating. Thereafter, the patternis wi thdrawn from the slurry and ismanipulated to drain of the excess slurryto produce a uniform coating layer.

AYURVEDIC AND UNANIPHARMACY [CODE NO.1992]

Ayurvedic system of medicine is as oldas the Vedic age. Now–a–days peoplegive preference to the Ayurvedicmedicines as the allopathic medicines arecostlier and have side effects. Ayurvedicmedicines are based on plants, animalsextract and minerals both in singleingredient drugs and compoundformulations, however, Ayurveda doesnot rule out any substances from beingused as a potential source of medicine.Ayurvedic compound formulat ions aremainly divided into two groups viz. (1)Kasthausadhi (predominantly plant drugs)

and (2). Rasausadhi (predominantlymetals and minerals). There are severalcategories of Kasthausadhi formulationssuch as Asavaristra, Avleha, GrafaChurena, Taila etc. and of Rasausadhissuch as Bhasma, Pist i , Lauha,Kapibadkva, Rasayana etc. TheAyurvedic drugs are derived fromvegetable sources from the various partsof the plant l ike root, leaf, flower, fruitextrude or plant as a whole. Ayurvedicsystem has its origin in antiquity in ourcountry which has been dedicated to thecure of innumerable ailments.

STAINLESS STEEL WIREDRAWING [CODE NO. 2026]

Stainless steel wire is produced by cold-drawn from stainless steel wire rod ofappropriate composition through one ormore carbide or diamond dies. As the steelrod passes through each die, the diameteris reduced and the length is necessarilyincreased. Variables such as initial roddiameter, final wire diameter, and end-use applications determine the number of

reductions that must take place. Thepercent of reduction in cross-sectionalarea occurring at each die determines theextent of work hardening and dictateswhether or not further reduction can takeplace prior to anneal ing. Anneal ing isrequired to soften the work-hardened wireper minute. Due to appearance, hardness, smoothness, non corrosiveness, andresistance to elevated temperatures, stainless steel wire is required.

RUBBER POWDER[CODE NO.2023]

By the application of heat and chemicalagents followed by intense mechanicalworking to ground vulcanized scrap or wornout rubber tires, tubes and waste rubberarticles, a substantial regeneration ondevulcanisation of the rubber compoundto its original plastic state is effected, thus permitting the product to becompounded, processed andrevulcanised. There are several typesof rubber powder made in different ways. They may be lightly vulcanized andmay contain appreciable quantities ofanti-agglomerating agents to preventmassing on storage. The trend now-a-days is towards automation in productionof rubber goods during handling, mixingand processing. The powder forms ofrubber is very easy to be handled. Theadvantages of powder processing havebeen recognized and include (a) rapidand inexpensive mixing ; (b) flexibilityin compounding.
