16 August 2019 marks a memorable and joyful day for Human Resource Development Committee (HRDC). Held at Infineon Technologies headquarters, the turnout was well-received. Its a whole day affair, with a couple of workshops thrown in, for members’ participation. Members get to keep themselves abreast with the latest updates on technologies and innovations that the industry has to offer on human resources development. e highlight of the event was, of course, HRDC Anniversary celebration. In one of the talks, Mr Bala Murali from Agilitas Learning, laid forth the latest digital learning strategies and eco-systems to members for consideration and gradual implementation into their organisation. Following that, ELITC Chairman, Mr Rajakumar from Baxter Healthcare, introduced an interesting team bond- ing activity titled “Lost At Sea”, which encourages participants to improve their leadership, problem-solving and deci- sion-making skills. To summarise it all up, Mr TW Toh from STMicroelectronics, contributed successful past years events of HRDC to the members. Industrial manufacturers are in the running to being the first movers of Artificial Intelligence (AI) implementation in automating their processes from materials sourcing through end-user consumption. Application of AI will effectively reduce machine downtime, improve product quality, process efficiency as well as better safety standards and performance. On top of that, manufacturers can use AI algorithms to regulate production, maximise operation efficiency & enable predictive/preventive maintenance. A 3-hour workshop, in conjuction with Electronics Precision & Machinery Engineering Week 2019, Career Transformation for Industry 4.0 was a good starting point for an individual to gather knowledge and insights about the much-needed skillsets to embark in this up and coming new industry which is experiencing rapid digital transformation. ELITC’s speaker, Mr Bala Murali, Managing Director/Learning Architect of Agilitas Learning, touched on the topic of “Mixed Reality (MR) in Manufacturing”. He gave a comprehensive overview on how the workforce can benefit tremendously from combining both technologies of AR and VR in their daily processes and troubleshooting.
