    Create a cylinder with dimensions shown below:

    Note that the sketching plane is TOP datum plane, and use RIGHT datum plane as

    right reference for orientation of sketching plane. This is one-side protrusion using acircle as a section.

    Create one-side protrusion representing hex bolt head as shown below.

    Use the top surface ofthe cylinder (bolt

    body) as thesketching plane.

    Draw a hexagon asthe section, and the

    distance across flatsis 0.375.

    Extrusion depth is

    0.1667.

    Create a chamfer at the top of hex head using 360 revolved protrusion cut. UseFRONT datum plane as a sketching plane, and draw the following section to be

    revolved.

    MODIFYING DIMENSION SYMBOLS

    From PART menu, select

    Modify - pick bolt body, hex head, and chamfer from the Model Tree.

    Draw theangular line as

    the section to berevolved.

    DimCosmetics -> Symbol

    Pick .2500, and type in major_dia

    Repeat the procedure for the following:

    Pick Enter symbol text

    .7500 length

    .1667 height

    .3750 width

    .3725 chamfer_dia

    When finish, select Done -> Done

    ADDING RELATIONS

    From PART menu, select

    Relations pick bolt body, hex head, and chamfer from Model Tree.

    Select Add

    Enter the relation as shown on

    the left.

    Hit Enter twice.

    Edit Rel

    Text editor appears, and type

    in the relations as shown onthe left.

    File -> SaveFile -> Exit

    Test relations by modifying major_dia from 0.25 to 0.5, and regenerate. Change

    back the major_dia to 0.25, and regenerate.

    From the PART menu, select Family Tabwhich will open the Family Table dialogbox.

    Select the Add icon in order to add items to the family table.

    Under Add Item, make sure

    Dimension is selected.

    Pick bolt body from Model

    Tree.

    Now select the dimension tobe controlled in the family

    table.

    Pick the dimensions .2500and .7500 as Add Item.

    Done Sel -> OK

    Note that

    HEXAGON_BOLT is

    the name of thegeneric part.

    Pick the Inserticon in the Family

    Table dialog.

    Change the name

    NEW_INSTANCESto

    HEX_BOLT_025X1

    Type in 1 for d1

    LENGTH

    The * symbolindicates that the

    value from thegeneric is used.

    Pick icon to preview thenew instance.

    Click Close button.

    Repeat the procedure for more instances as shown below:

    Click OK button.

    To verify the new instances, click - the Open file icon,

    Select for example hex_bolt_050x2, then click Open button. The hex bolt instance

    with 0.5 major diameter and 2 length is open and ready to be used.
