Launching and Ceremonial Drilling held for the VMMC Magiting Ward Project.
The ceremonial launching and drilling for the VMMC Magiting Project was held
last February 8, 2020 at Ward 21 signifying the start of its construction.
The Magiting Ward will be constructed at the 3rd floor roof deck of the VMMC
main building and upon completion will have 12 rooms; 4 suites and 8 private rooms.
Funding for the construction will be provided by the PMA Magiting Class 1970 in
partnership with PAGCOR Foundation, the Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, San Miguel
Corporation and Friends of PMA Class 1970.
The event was attended by several high-ranking government officials and
distinguished personalities such as Secretary of National Defense Delfin N. Lorenzana,
Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources Roy A. Cimatu, Zambales Governor
Hermogenes E Ebdane, Jr, Congressman Romeo Acop, PVAO Administrator
Ernesto G. Carolina., Businessman Alberto D. Lina, DMCI CEO Jorge A. Consunji,
Bloomberry Resorts and Hotel Director Michael Ray Aquino, Medal of Valor Recipient
and San Miguel Corporation Consultant Colonel Ariel O. Querubin among others.
Also in attendance were members and spouses of the PMA Magiting Class 1970.
To kick start the event, a Thanksgiving Mass presided by Reverend Father
Emigdio A. Paredes was held. The program proper followed shortly after.
In his welcome remarks Dr. Chiong thanked the PMA Magiting Class for their
generous donation “ On behalf of the VMMC Management, Maramingsalamatpotalaga
This project, 4 suites and 8 private rooms , that’s a lot and I really do not know how to
thank you.”he said.
Also during the program VMMC Architect Grace C. Bautista presented the
project perspective of the Magiting Ward showing its architectural plan and interior
design.
Likewise, several distinguished guests delivered their respective keynote
messages.
PMA Magiting Class 1970 President Boots de Veyra said in his message that the
Magiting Ward will serve as a legacy of the Class and will address the problem of lack
of rooms for veteran patients in the hospital.” This project came from the realization of
the chronic lack of hospital bedspace in VMMC is not going to ease very soon. This
prompted us to take the matter into our hands so to speak and to do something about it.
he stressed.
Secretary Lorenzana in his keynote speech also expressed his gratitude and
appreciation to the initiative of the PMA Magiting Class 1970 “Salamat, Sirs for your
donation. Thank you very much. I hope you continue supporting our hospital” he stated.
Furthermore, Secretary Cimatu greeted the audience and congratulated the class
for the project. “Salamat sa pagpunta ninyo dito. Maraming salamat for coming over.
This is the start of a series of activities of the PMA jubilarians.” he remarked.
After the speeches, members and officers of the PMA Magiting Class 1970
together with VMMC officials proceeded for the unveiling of the tarpaulin of theproposed Magiting Ward.
