On that particular fishing day, Mr. G put up a good fight against Herman the hermit crab. The author wrote Mr. G’s true story later and enhanced it. She’s brought the thrilling exploit to life with rhyming and descriptive text that will place the reader alongside Herman as his shell home is tossed to and fro. Her book has given us a unique take on a thrilling ride for Herman. The story is educational and thought provoking about all that the beach has to offer. GREENSBORO, NC—APRIL 6, 2017—The story started out calmly enough with what Mr. G loved about the beach: the sand, surf, sunrises, sunsets, ocean waves, salt air, and breezes. He loved to set up his fishing gear, watch his rod, and catch a fish. He admitted that often there’d only be a wish, with no resulting fish. But he loved the calm and grace of this place. He liked to walk on the beach and look for seashells. On the day of the big adventure, Mr. G was on the beach with the sunrise. He set up his rigs in a favorite spot. Meanwhile Herman was splashing, rolling, and tumbling with the tide. Over the course of the day, the sea roared louder, and the waves turned rougher. When Mr. G’s rod suddenly bent over, Herman felt an ominous tug on his shell. As Mr. G grabbed his rod to do battle with what he hoped was a really big fish, Herman’s shell home tossed violently. Finally, the shell came to an abrupt halt on the beach. Mr. G laughed at the shell and its contents, took off the line and hook, and set Herman upright. The hermit crab flopped upside down again. Eventually Herman stayed right side up and headed back toward the ocean. All was once again right with the world as Herman rejoined his seaside friends and Mr. G baited his hook, fished, and dreamt of a fish dinner. The text and artwork in the book portray the beach, sea creatures, and a mélange of exquisite seashells. The relaxing currents flowing through the beginning and end of this tale depict sea life bouncing in the waves and encountering each other along the way. Herman the Hermit Crab—A Reel Dilemma tells a nerve- wracking tale that will stir readers’ blood. Listeners and readers alike will learn more about realities of seaside life. This well-crafted story offers real-life lessons that children and adults will enjoy. This book is available from the following distributors online: BarnesandNoble.com and Amazon.com.
