Favorite Type of Music: Music is one ofShirley’s greatest joys in life. She enjoys mostkinds, but especially loves classic country.Some of her favorites are Dolly Parton,Kenny Rogers, and Hank Williams.
Most Exciting Place she has traveled:Shirley has visited many interesting placesthroughout her life, but perhaps the mostspecial to her is up north where she and herfamily would visit every fall for a month longat Two Hearted River. Together, she and herfamily would fish for salmon and enjoyMichigan’s beautiful autumn colors. It washere where Shirley also met some of herdearest friends, who would camp alongsideher family in their campers. At night, herneighbors would bring out their instrumentsand together they would sing songs and
laugh over a giant bon-fire. It is at Two HeartedRiver where some ofShirley’s most preciousmemories have takenplace.
Favorite Animal: Dogs!

Family: Shirley was married to her wonder-ful husband, John, for 59 years. Togetherthey had four awesome children – Terry, Jeff,Mark, and Michael.
Career: Shirley has always been a hardworker and has held an eclectic variety of ca-reers and jobs. Some included working as abeautician, a ward clerk, and an associate atJC Penny’s. However, her longest and mostspecial role was at Martin Luther NursingHome, where she worked as a CNA for over23 years.
Favorite Food: Shirley says she is not pickywith food and will eat “just about anythingbut eggplant.”
Pets: Shirley loves ani-mals and has had manyspecial fur babiesthroughout her lifetime,including dogs, cats, andeven chickens. Currentlyshe has two rescue greyhounds who stay withher daughter Terry. Theirnames are Thomas andReba, and Shirley de-scribes them as gentle,well-behaved, and ex-tremely loving dogs.
