Christmas will be here before we know it. The love of God was poured out to all on Christmas morning through the birth of His son, Jesus Christ. We want that love to be known and felt by all the children here in our community each Christmas. One way that is done is through the giving of gifts by the Toy Shop to children who might otherwise not know the excitement of opening gifts on Christmas morning. First Christian Church supports that Christmas morning excitement and blessing by bringing toys and donations to the church during Christmas in July. This Sunday, July 18, we’ll highlight Christmas in July by asking everyone to bring a toy or gift for ages 0-18 to the Sanctuary or make a financial donation to FCC with Toy Shop in the memo. TOY SHOP’S CHRISTMAS IN JULY Bring a Toy to Church this Sunday!

HO! HO! HO! The Toy Shop truly appreciates your gift and FCC thanks you for your support of this mission, so children may always remember Christmas being special. God thanks you most of all for sharing His love with others — especially these children at Christmas!

Sunday was such a wonderful celebration—thank you! The Gathering Hall was so fun and festive. Thank you for the Giuseppe’s gift card. As Linda Guest suggested, I’ll enjoy that while Arnold is on his big adventure. You may remember that FCC Duncan is the only local congregation that Arnold has served while we’ve been married. Previous jobs were in the General Office and as Regional Minister of South Carolina. I’ve heard nightmare stories about the experience that some preachers and families have while serving a local church. Thank you for not being that nightmare! And, thank you for being our friends and loving us like family.♥

The morning of my last week as

your pastor began with Ron Savage

waiting for me to show up. I thought

I was early! He was here to let me

know he’d take over my library on

behalf of the church, and any newer

clergy, who can make use of a lifetime

collection of theology and biblical

studies. I trust things are in good

hands. Then, A.L. Hutson was here

to discuss some personnel issues and

inasmuch as we were in complete

agreement, I knew things were in

good hands.

A brief visit to our daycare and a

visit with Maddie Bacon assured me

these babies and kiddos are being

given love and a good start. Things

are in good hands. Let’s not overlook

Erica and Reba being occupied with

the work of our church office. These

two women are treasures running the

office as though…you know.

Being your pastor has been an

extraordinary blessing to me. Things

are in excellent hands, and someone

younger and taller and smarter will be

glad to be your pastor.

I Know Whereof I Speak,

Arnold

A-YIP-I-O-E-AY! Two groups of scouts from Troop 4434 left last week

for a new adventure! One group is at the San Isabel Scout Ranch near Pueblo, CO for summer camp, where they’ll learn new skills and work on earning individual merit badges. The second group is at the Philmont Scout Ranch where they will backpack 60 to 80 miles in the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico and camp in the wilderness. Please pray for them as they share new experiences, explore new places, and learn new leadership skills! (Thanks to Delyn Cronk for this info.)
