How does the service work? HERE Navigation on Demand is a fully integrated, platform-agnostic SaaS solution for navigation and connected services, including a configurable UX. Its ground-breaking architecture allows for a step-by-step addition of functionality to the SaaS Client, which is deployable on both connected embedded IVI platforms or mobiles. Functionality is cached locally to enable offline availability. Encryption ensures secure transmissions between the Cloud and the platform at any time.

Instead of licensing single assets - like map data, navigation software and APIs to Cloud services - that automakers must then integrate to achieve a production-ready navigation application, HERE Navigation on Demand introduces “functionality as a service”. Each service can be licensed separately and includes all the components needed to deliver the function. Mainline services are kept up-to-date by HERE over the course of a subscription. An OEM Configuration Portal facilitates the definition of differentiated experiences for various vehicle lines and trim levels. OEMs and 3rd parties can develop their own services, which seamlessly integrate with the HERE Navigation on Demand mainline offering through an SDK.

The Modular HERE Navigation on Demand Services include all the assets needed to deliver a specific functionality to the SaaS Client and can be combined flexibly. An SDK enables OEMs to extend the functional scope.

Functional elementsHERE Navigation On Demand is an open platform for navigation and connected services. Its SDK enables OEMs or 3rd parties to add more functionality – powered by the HERE Open Location Platform.  

SaaS Client: Deployable on embedded and mobile platforms, it caches HERE Navigation On Demand Services from the Cloud to ensure offline availability. The client integrates with the vehicle hardware like any other navigation software.

OEM Configuration Portal: This tool enables OEMs to create differentiated offerings for different vehicle segments and trim levels, and includes a marketplace for 3rd party services as well as analytics tools.
