Welcome Reverend Dr. Debra Murray

Processional Hymn Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken UMH 731

Glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God; God, whose word cannot be broken, formed thee for his own abode. On the Rock of Ages founded, what can shake thy sure repose? With salvation's walls surrounded, thou mayst smile at all thy foes.

See, the streams of living waters, springing from eternal love, well supply thy sons and daughters, and all fear of want remove. Who can faint while such a river ever will their thirst assuage? Grace which like the Lord, the giver, never fails from age to age. Life of the Community Call to Worship Why have you come to this place? We have come to find Jesus.

Round each habitation hovering, see the cloud and fire appear for a glory and a covering, showing that the Lord is near! Thus deriving from our banner light by night and shade by day, safe we feed upon the manna which God gives us when we pray.

Why have you come today? We are tired in body and spirit. Jesus bids you sit and be at ease. We are hungry with nothing to eat. Come and eat your fill. But there are only five barley loaves and two fish. There is plenty for all. Will we find wholeness here? Jesus gathers the fragments of our lives, that nothing may be lost. Praise be to God!

Pastoral Prayer

Lord’s Prayer

Our Creator who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Anthem Like A Shepherd Carl Nygard (b.1947)

Scripture Mark 6:30-44 Lucy Tompkin

Hymn Hope of the World UMH 178 vs. 1, 2, 5

Hope of the world, thou Christ of great compassion, speak to our fearful hearts by conflict rent. Save us, thy people, from consuming passion, who by our own false hopes and aims are spent.

Hope of the world, God's gift from highest heaven, bringing to hungry souls the bread of life, still let thy spirit unto us be given, to heal earth's wounds and end all bitter strife.

Hope of the world, O Christ o'er death victorious, who by this sign didst conquer grief and pain, we would be faithful to thy gospel glorious; thou art our Lord! Thou dost forever reign. Message Reverend Ann Duncan

Offertory Prayer

Lord Jesus, Creator of Heaven and Earth, you fed five thousand with five small loaves and two fish. Accept my offerings and, in your mercy, great things will be miraculously accomplished. Amen. Offertory Toccatina for Flute Pietro Yon (1886-1943)

Closing Hymn Faith of Our Fathers UMH 710

Faith of our fathers, living still, in spite of dungeon, fire, and sword; O how our hearts beat high with joy whene'er we hear that glorious word!

Refrain: Faith of our fathers, holy faith! We will be true to thee till death.

Faith of our fathers, we will strive to win all nations unto thee; and through the truth that comes from God, we all shall then be truly free. [Refrain]

Faith of our fathers, we will love both friend and foe in all our strife; and preach thee, too, as love knows how by kindly words and virtuous life. [Refrain]
