Set on a rural sloping site in Cork, this house is designed to blend with its surroundings, while also maximising the sun and amazing views around the site. Bounded by woodland, the dwelling house is nestled into the

hill with the fragmented single storey elements having a roof slope that matches the slope of the adjacent hill. At planning stage, the sloping site presented design challenges to ensure the house could sit comfortably into the slope and be seamlessly integrated with the site. It took various visual drawings and a physical model of the house to convince the planning authority that the fragmented design was an appropriate and well-considered response to the site. The broken up nature of the building therefore allows strong integration with the site. All of the main living spaces occupy the upper level of the building to maximise sun and views. H
