Message from Mrs Barnett

I hope that you have all had a wonderful weekend, especially in the sunshine yesterday.

Yet again, there are some magnificent home learning activities to celebrate this week and as always, a huge well done!

It is also important to celebrate the children who are accessing their learning from school at the moment. They have all adapted brilliantly to their new learning environments, cohorts of children and the adults that they are working with. Significant change like this is not always easy and they have all approached it with gusto- well done!

I wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge well done and more importantly, thank you, to all of the parents and carers, who have been juggling home learning, work and childcare commitments. I speak from experience when I say that I know that this is not straightforward and as a school, we really do appreciate all that you are doing! As always, if you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us, we really do have an `open door` policy and welcome opportunities to support all children and their families.

I very hope that you all have a wonderful week.

Take care and stay safe

Mrs Barnett

WrenClassWren Class have been thinking about Food this week! At school, we picked artichokes from the allotment and Miss Woodrow cooked them! We then explored and tasted them.

Rosie and Martha sorted the food into 2 sections –healthy and unhealthy.

Lexi made a mint aero cheesecake! Yummy!

Matthew made a great pattern using his fingers!

Here is Joshua completing the aeroplane challenge to see which of his designs travelled the furthest!

Another brilliant week of home learning from Swift Class! I’ve been really impressed by the fantastic effort you have all shown - many of you have been really inspired to get creative outdoors thanks to the 30 days wild activities. Keep up the great work everyone!

Darcy has written a wonderful biography of Amelia Earhart and has included lots of important facts.

Zak has loved completing the 30 days wild challenges this week –here he is with caterpillars he found whilst exploring outdoors!

Gilbert has been very creative using his lego to help him with his home learning!

Kestrel ClassNow that Year 6 have returned to school, we will celebrate some of their achievements, as well as continuing to showcase Year 5’s Home Learning. This week we began the book Holes and continued working through 30 Acts of Wildness.

We investigated how the size of our shadow changes across the day. Kester and Noah worked well as a team to measure each other’s shadows. Florence did some careful measuring.

Year 6 spent some time learning about hand washing and hygiene. In this investigation, they discovered how far a sneeze could travel and how microbes can be easily transferred to other objects if we don’t wash our hands.

One of our 30 Days Wild challenges was to create some wild art. Alexa sent in a fantastic effort from home. Anthony, Kester and Noah worked together to create a natural pattern. Florence and Oli put so much effort into creating a Spider.

Year 5 and 6 were challenged to picture what they thought Camp Green Lake looked like. Kester wrote this brilliant setting description.
