Message from the President
•1Corinthians12:14• "For the body is not one member, but many." This verse is perfect for what I have been seeing around Redeemer. We have all been coming together to work as a team in God’s name. The Holy Spirit is moving through us in a positive way and it is noticed. We have caught the attention of the Director of Evangelical Ministry at Synod. He was able to choose one pastor from our Synod to go to Grace Institute and he chooses Pastor Aida. She will learn the tools to keep our church and moving towards the future.
This weekend Bruce H. and Jake B. worked together to replace the glass panels in the upper entry. We had a team of members work on the Habitat house in the neighborhood. Tom H. had a member of the community tell him about the great experience they had at h.e.l.p. corner and what a great service it is. The h.e.l.p. corner could not work without the support of Interfaith Caregivers and caring volunteers. We have another request from the community for space use. Bruce put out the call for painters on Sept. 28th , and already people are starting to work. Please come and help we need talents that all of you have. We have lighter inside work for those who are not sure of painting skills.
For all of this good work to happen we need to and have been working as a team. We may not always agree or see the reason behind the decisions. But I am proud to say that our members are putting the differences aside and we are working hard to do God’s work. We are making an impact on our community.
We are working to be an efficient and effective church. Please continue to bring your ideas and thoughts forward. If someone has time to gather a volunteer team for the Pink Pumpkin Run please see Sheila. It could be handing out water or just cheering on runners and walkers. I feel Blessed to be a part of this Congregation during this time of growth. Sheila B.

October Special Giving:
Hartford Food Pantry
Located downtown, on Johnson Street, the Hartford Food pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition to your financial contributions through Redeemer, you can always donate food via the pantry barrels at Piggly Wiggly, or through the school or Scout programs.
(See page 5 of this Herald for more information on the Food Pantry.)
From the Pastor’s Heart
Beloveds, The Holy Spirit is moving in very interesting ways, and hopefully we’ll see new things this new year which is
around the corner. A Youth Group is on the horizon and new opportunities with our community, as well. Pray for the
ministries that gather in The Nest, as there will be changes. Advent is almost here and Christmas will be here pretty
soon, too! May the spirit of Advent renew our hearts, minds, and spirits, as we prepare for Christ our Savior and
Redeemer’s coming.

Church Council Highlights September, 2019
Council Notes Present: Pastor Aida,Sheila,Bruce,Rick,Criag,Gabi
Recap of Sunday Town Hall Meeting
Sending Thank You’s, and letter to those who did not
attend. Lynn N. volunteered to send them out.
Pastor Aida will be out of office on Sept. 25 possibly
the 26th also for her husband’s surgery.
She let us know she will take vacation in Feb. from
the 11th to 18th.
The DEM of Synod suggested Pastor Aida for a
yearlong Conference at Grace Institute in
Dubuque Iowa. She will need to travel there 3
times in the next year for 2 days. We will only
need a supply Pastor 1 time. Council agreed this
would be a good thing.
Michelle and Sheila will work on Custodial Volunteer
chart to see if we can get enough interest to drop
the paid service.
Pastor asked if the Youth can take over the Fireside
Room as a hangout room. Council passed. Please
pass any concerns onto a council member.
We had discussion about handling of finances with
Church Track, We may need to make a few
changes.
Pastor will get a meeting time set up to get Church
Track moving forward with Matt and others.
Sheila brought a request for use of Fellowship Hall
by the Hartford 4H. They are looking for a
meeting place first Thur. of the month for about
100 people. Council agreed to have her meet with
them and check back.

MISSION PARTNER—ST. JOHN’S, WEST MILWAUKEE
HELP US MAKE PLARN FOR THE HOMELESS!
Please save your plastic grocery bags* - make sure they are pretty clean, bring them to church, and put them in the boxes marked for our mission partner church, St. John’s of West Milwaukee. (* - IMPORTANT—Please donate only typical grocery bags, not the thicker bags which
Sendik’s and some other stores use.)
WHAT IS “PLARN?”
Crocheting with plastic bags—in other words, plastic bag yarn (plarn), to make mats for people to sleep on when they have no bed to turn into at night. Redeemer leaders have grasped ahold of this suggestion from our mission partner, St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Milwaukee. There are ways for everybody to pitch in and help.
The next workday will be Thurs-day, October 3, at 1:00 pm. Future dates are being dis-cussed for an afternoon work session. Each week an announcement will provide the updated schedule. Some of the stages for making the mats can be done at home.
There is a cool display in the narthex (SEE LEFT) with more information. To find out more, including how to help, Neva Rublee is a good person to talk to.

Saturday, September 7th
We had another positive event to help the less fortunate in Hartford. Our God’s Work Our Hands team spent six hours working on the new Habitat For Humanity House at the corner of rural and Loos streets. The team was made up with Pastor Aida, Bruce Horst, Dale Behlke,
Mary Beineck, Lynn Baldwin, Sharon Indermuehl and Pam and Don Horen. We accomplished a lot: put in the windows, moved lumber to the basement to frame in a
bedroom., built saw horses for the next work week and got inside done prepared for painting/staining the next week. By three pm we a all pretty much exhausted but also very proud of
what we accomplished!
Another example of Redeemer’s commitment to helping those outside of our church walls.

CONFIRMATION CLASSES
We will be meeting Thursday evenings starting at 4:15—5:15 in
the Fireside Room.
First class is October 4th.
Very sharp students again this year:
Annie Nettesheim, Georgia

Pray for these students as they move spiritually from being kids to being
adults. When you see them around church encourage them in their faith.

Seeds of Ministry Nuggets
Seeds of Ministry October 2019 October 6
Faith is about trust. Faith is highly relational. When we live in a fully trusting relationship with God, all things are possible. And when we live in a fully trusting relationship with God we respond to God's will instinctually, seeking neither reward nor praise, but simply desiring to do the bidding of our Lord.
October 13
The good news of Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan, an enemy of Jews, carries with it the promise that through Jesus, God empowers people to step across boundaries and share mercy with outsiders. God’s mercy is not limited by human conventions regarding insiders and outsiders -- even when the outsider is an enemy. For this we should always give thanks.
October 20 Often we who are believers are perhaps still reluctant to address almighty God with our . petitions and needs. God offers us both an invitation and encouragement to pray without ceasing, confident of God's desire to re-spond. If we do not receive an immediate answer to our prayers we may wonder whether God is at all moved by them. Our prayers, then should give us comfort and encouragement not to lose heart.
October 27
Paul's statement that "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” is expressed in his under-standing of repentance and restoration. In his letter to Timothy Paul reminds him that, he has simply “kept the faith” and is confident of God’s crowning reward in return. Jesus himself asserts that it is only the genuine and humble cry to a kind and forgiving Lord that will truly receive an answer full of love.
PRAYER REQUESTS—WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Every weekend in our ANNOUNCEMENT sheet, we list sisters and
brothers in Christ for whom prayers have been requested. This is a
good thing for a Christian faith community to be doing.
Please pray for: Robert Karsten Ronelle Escher
DJ Horen Sharon Hintz
Brady Zoellick Gary Michaels
Louis Olson Gary & Lynn Bennett
Candy Burghardt Kriss Schultz Greg Rublee
Please call or email the office if there is anyone who should be added or removed from our prayer list.

First United Methodist Church host’s a monthly free meal program for those in any kind of need in the Hartford area. The needs aren’t just financial. Consider those who live alone, those who have lost a spouse and yearn for companionship, those who no longer cook for themselves, those who cannot afford to go out for a meal. In Matthew’s gospel we are called to visit the sick, to give drink to the thirsty, to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to welcome the stranger. Many of these ministries are already part of Redeemer’s outreach to the community, and now we have another opportunity to feed the hungry. We work in conjunction with other church each month, including St. Killian’s, St. Aiden’s, St. John’s United Church of Christ, and First United Methodist.
The Community Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. at First United
Methodist Church on the last Saturday of each month. Come
for a free hot meal with the Hartford Community! If you are interested in volunteering (9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.) to help serve the
meal, show up to help on that day. We need help with
desserts. Please consider baking a dessert to be served. .
If you have questions, talk to Barb Menden. See you on
October 26th. Thank You!
