More women are placing their heart’s

health at the core of it all Three weeks into the One Woman One Challenge and participants are reaping the benefits of each week’s challenge to their heart’s health. Setting aside more time for herself and her health, challenge participant Suzi shares with us how the challenge is helping her reach her fitness and lifestyle goals.

As a busy mum of two children, wife and part-time nurse, fitness challenges in the past have never worked for me because of the rigorous time and effort required, often making it difficult for me to partake in as I have minimal time to myself and always put the priorities of my husband and children before me. However, the One Woman One Challenge has made it achievable for women like me to set aside some time each week to myself to improve my health as I am particularly worried about my weight. The One Woman One Challenge has helped me so far find simple ways to balance my exercise routine, stress and diet without compromising my family life. I look forward to learning more about how I can improve my health and in turn my heart’s health in the coming weeks as I don’t want my children to grow up without a mother.

A calm heart is a healthy heart Coming off the back of week 7’s challenge for the One Woman One Challenge has many women feeling less stressed after setting aside time each day to read a chapter of a book they feel inspired by. For Gemma, one of the challenge participants, week 7 was an important week for her to take some time out of her hectic work and social schedule to switch off, relax and destress.

As a self-confessed workaholic, socialite and stress-head, I realised that the stress of living such a demanding lifestyle could eventually take its toll on my heart’s health. As a result of this lifestyle, I am a heavy smoker, often skip meals and drink more than recommended. The One Woman One Challenge has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself and my health as I have learnt how to manage my stress alternatively to smoking or drinking my stresses away, and have learnt it is also just as important to open up about my stress more with family and friends. As a women that ‘wants to have it all’, I now can have it all and more simply by stressing less and dedicating more time to myself. Bring on week 8!

Want to help Gemma keep calm and stress less? You can help Gemma fundraise at (insert link). Be sure to follow Her Heart on Facebook and Instagram for more hearty inspiration.
