DESIGN CONTEST FOR HOME TEXTILES PRODUCTS

GUIDELINES FOR DESIGN CONTEST

1. Design Requirements

Designs should necessarily focus only on the following product groups and need to be coordinated

o Table Linen : Table Cloth, Table Runner , Placemat & Napkin

o Bed Linen : Bedcovers , Pillow cases , Duvet covers

o Curtains & Cushions o Floor Coverings : All ranges of floor coverings such as rugs , dhurries , Floor mat ,

Bath mat etc

All Design elements such as weave , count, color , pattern , size etc should align with Internationalmarket trends particularly for developed markets such as EU and USA, Japanese market. Targeted

market has to be clearly indicated

The lay out of designs need to be in finished end product format in coordinated sets properly

engineered with a clear depiction of design layout and submitted as paper printed / Textilematerial

Design should have the technical description such as product dimension, Warp Count, Weft Count,Ends per inch, Picks per inch , Material used etc .,

Designs should have an exclusivity for development in Handloom

Production data such as weave design, draft & pegplan along with warp and weft pattern with

PANTONE reference also need to be submitted for each design

Any value addition process if undertaken need to be specified clearly

All designs need to be assigned with a design code.

It is mandatory to submit a self declaration along with the designs stating that these designs areoriginal and not copied or duplicated . Designer will be responsible for any consequences that may

arise in the event of any violation of this clause.

All the designs to be submitted will become the property of the Council and the designer has no right

to claim or reuse the same in any form.

2. Submission Method

Submission has to be done along with the application form as per Annexure-1 Participants need to submit a declaration regarding the originality of design as per Annexure- II



Submission of designs may be done either for one product group or all product groups

Submission is allowed only upto a Maximum of 3 designs per each product group per contestant Submission may be made either directly in person or through representative(s) by prior

confirmation ( or ) on the date of design display. Submission may also be made though post/courier one week before the date of design display . on

the date and venue (at HEPC headquarters in Chennai ) to be intimated upon receipt of confirmationfrom the designer regarding the participation

To and fro Sleeper Class train fare for the shortest route will be reimbursed on submission of tickets

for successful award-winning contestants

3. Mode of Selection

The designs received from the participants will be displayed for Committee’s assessment. The Selection

Committee constituted by the Council shall make the selection of designs . Jury’s decision is final in

respect of selection of designs

4. Important Time Schedule :

Date of receipt of confirmed application -10-11-10

Date of design display for selection -10-12-10

Date of award presentation -18-02-11

5. Details of Awards to be presented

Each Coordinated Product groups viz. Table Linen , Bed Linen, Curtains & Cushions and Floor Coverings

carries the following cash awards.

• One 1st

Cash award - Rs.25,000/- - for each of above 4 product sets

• Five 2nd

Cash award -Rs.10,000/- each for each of above 4 product sets

• Five 3rd

Cash award -Rs.5,000/- each for each of above 4 product sets

Declaration for Originality of Designs

and is not copied nor reproduced .I take the responsibility for any violations and any related consequences

in this regard.

The designs, if selected, will become the property of Handloom Export Promotion Council and I will not

reproduce or reuse the selected design for any purpose in any form in the future . Handloom Export

Promotion Council is entitled to use the design for any purpose which they deem it necessary
