WHAT IS HEP®

The Henry Equestrian Plan is a comprehensive horse insurance plan specifically designed to provide all the coverage you need in one low package premium. HEP® covers values on horses up to $250,000.00 (Cdn.). This program does not apply to horses used commercially or for racing (including training to race). Contact your HEP representative for horses used commercially for racing or valued above $250,000.00.

FULL MORTALITY INSURANCEYour horse, if at least 48 hours old and under 17 years of age, can be insured against death as a result of any accident, sickness, disease, natural cause plus intentional destruction by a qualified veterinarian for humane reasons. Theft is also included in this coverage. For horses over 17 years of age, contact your HEP representative.

PLAN A - “REGULAR” HEP® ‘Full Mortality’ rate is 3.0% of the insured value (minimum premium is $100.00 per horse). Includes the following at no additional cost:

A - COMPREHENSIVE PERSONAL LIABILITYThis coverage applies to any bodily injury or property damage lawsuit directed at you due to the actions of your insured horse. Even if the court finds you are not legally responsible for the accident, legal costs, investigating and defending the case can run into a sizeable sum. HEP® takes over when trouble like this strikes. Limit $1,000,000.00.

Additional $1,000,000.00 available for $25.00 premium

B - VOLUNTARY MEDICAL PAYMENTS This coverage will pay up to $1,000.00 for reasonable medical expenses if your horse unintentionally injures another person. These benefits are in excess of any government or health plan you may carry.

C - VOLUNTARY PROPERTY PAYMENTS This coverage will pay, up to a limit of $1,000.00 for loss arising out of direct physical damage to or destruction of property caused by the actions of your horse.

D - EQUUS LINE (Accidental Death Benefit) This coverage provides a $10,000.00 death benefit for any rider of the insured horse while riding in competition.

PLAN B - “NO EXTRAS” HEP®

‘Full Mortality’ rate is 2.5% of the insured value(minimum premium is $100.00 per horse).

NOTE: Above coverages A, B, C & D NOT AVAILABLE

1 - TWELVE MONTH EXTENSIONThe full mortality coverage is extended to cover the death and destruction of any animal hereby insured occurring within 12 months after the expiry date specified in the policy as the result of any accident occurring, illness or disease manifesting itself, during the period of insurance if we are notified in writing prior to the expiration date of this insurance policy.

2 - DEATH CLAIM VETERINARIAN REIMBURSEMENTThis extension helps to pay for incurred expenses related to the death of the insured horse due to an insured peril. Up to $1,000.00 is available for euthanization, post-mortem and related expenses. There is no deductible for this coverage.

3 - WAIVER OF DEPRECIATIONIncluded at NO ADDITIONAL COST on new business. If the market value of your horse should depreciate during the policy period due to sickness or injury, in the event you have a claim under the full mortality or specified perils coverage, we will pay at least the limit of insurance in force at the effective date of coverage should an insured mortality loss occur. Time limitation: 24 months from the date you first insured your horse under this policy. Once the time limit has expired a mortality loss will be settled on the basis of current Actual Cash Value.

4 - RENEWALRenewal is automatic but subject to the age, coverage, value, health and soundness of the insured animal.

1 - MEDICAL PLUS SURGICALOR SURGICAL ONLYThis coverage can be added to your full mortality policy for horses over 6 months and under 17 years of age. It pays for reasonable, necessary and customary fees for surgery and medical expenses incurred due to injury, illness or disease. This coverage does not include treatment for a pre-existing condition nor does it cover cosmetic surgery. It provides limited coverage for diagnostic tests, after-surgery care fees and follow-up treatments. MEDICAL PLUS SURGICAL: $125.00 for $2,500.00 coverage, $200.00 for $5,000.00 coverage, or $350.00 for $10,000.00 coverage. SURGICAL ONLY: $100.00 for $2,500.00 coverage, $125.00 for $5,000.00 coverage or $200.00 for $10,000.00 coverage. A $300.00 deductible clause applies to the first claim during the policy period. 2 - DISABILITY INSURANCEThis coverage can be added to your full mortality policy for english and western pleasure horses, show hunters, show jumpers and dressage horses with a minimum insured valued of $5,000.00 Coverage will pay 50% of the value of the insured animal if the horse is totally and permanently disabled by a sudden, external, accidental and violent incident and does not require destruction for humane reasons. With a payment under this section, you shall retain full right and title to the animal. The disability coverage will not be automatically renewed but can be applied for. Rate: 1.8% of the insured value.

3 - AGREED VALUE/GUARANTEED RENEWAL This coverage can be added if there has been a sickness or injury during the policy term the company will renew the mortality coverage on the horse at the same limit without an exclusion. If the value of the horse has decreased due to sickness or injury and there is an insured mortality loss the company will pay the limit of mortality insurance in force at the time of the loss. Age restriction of 6 months to 15 years.Renewal of this endorsement coverage must be applied for prior to each renewal date to insure the continuation of this endorsement coverage.Rate: 0.1% of the insured valueMinimum premium $10.00

4 - TACK AND EQUIPMENTNo need to shop for another policy. Your tack can be covered for all risks subject to exclusions listed in the policy wordings. Limit of coverage - $2,000.00 for an additional cost of $20.00. The deductible is 10% minimum $100.00. Higher limits are available at a rate of $20.00 for each additional $1,000.00 coverage. Items that require electricity or are battery operated are excluded unless specifically scheduled.

5 - TRAILER INSURANCEThis coverage insures your horse trailer for specified perils, upset and collision at a rate of 1% of the value of the trailer. This coverage is intended for trailers up to $100,000.00 in value. The deductible for this coverage is 2% of the insured limit of the trailer. (minimum deductible $100.00)
