land, [O/Apiti?] Ruka, Hemi and Rapaea, are those to whom the land belongs. They say the lease is wrong. The three tribes to whom the land belongs are: Ngai Te Pakanga, Ngati Hikatoa, Ngai Te Aohua. The following ask for a re-hearing: Hemi Mare, Kina Paurau, Kawinia Warepa, Maniwhera Te Pia, Ruku Te Ari, Rapaea Te Auru. They ask for a re-hearing. This land was taken while the writer was fighting with the Pakeha. 4 pp.

claims this land does not belong to Te Pakaroa, and that the writer was supported by Wiremu Tamehana in Wellington, who queried Te Pakaroa's ownership and stated it belonged to Te Hira Hauraki thro' his ancestor, Kau Amoroa. The writer has sent the money for the survey of Ahirau. [Note from Monro “Replied to Oct 9/67”].

land. His own child died. The lands of the dead should be left till a later sitting of the Court at Napier or Te Wairoa. 1 p

32. From: Keremeneta Hupata To: Clerk of Maori 10.1869 Te Aute Land Court + Piripi 7. + Karepa Matahi Content: The writers have seen the notice saying Keremeneta and Paora Torotoro are living

on the land. This is wrong. That land has not been surveyed. A letter has come to say Waaka Rewharewha or Paora Torotoro have fetched a Pakeha surveyor to do it. It is not for them to do this. It is for the writers to do. The land belongs to Keremeneta, Hakaraia, Piripi and Karepa. 3 pp.
