Our land!

Torres Vedras stands out for its social, cultural and economic impact. It is also

known due to an historical fact: the defensive system of the Lines of Torres, which

overcame the Napoleonic troops during their invasion.

A land which has lots of sunshine and is close to the sea, with 20 km of coastline.

Calm environments which permit moments of leisure.

In the west, beautiful beaches of fine,

golden sands can be found, such as Santa

Cruz, Santa Rita, Porto Novo, Areia Branca

and the picturesque Praia da Nazaré.

 

Close to Torres Vedras, the medieval town of Óbidos is one of the biggest tourist

attractions in the country.

The Castle of Óbidos is believed to have a roman origin. However, it won it’s status of

fortification when still under Arab rule.

Many of the events that led to Portugal’s origin – the country that has the

oldest borders in Europe – took place in this region.

Nazaré began to be known and

sought after, as a beach, in the

middle of the nineteenth century.

In the 1960s, tourists have

discovered the charm of this

village.
