Hemera’s Greek Myth
Inside the village in northern Athens, Greece there lived a family of Nyx
Erebus and their children. Nyx’s children have all gotten married except their
daughter Hemera and their youngest son Aether. Hemera and Aether were the
only children that haven’t gotten married yet. Hemera always argued about
various things but mostly why she has not been married yet.
One night during supper, Nyx asked why Hemera hasn’t gotten married
like all her other siblings except Aether because he was the youngest son. She
asked why nobody has come to ask he for her hand in marriage. Hemera always
denied answering that question whenever her mother would ask her. She never
liked to talk about that subject except to her brother because he was like her best
friend. Hemera did not answer her mother. Nyx got annoyed and asked her
again, still Hemera would not reply to her mother. Nyx got very annoyed and
furious and started to throw a tantrum.
After Hemera was sent to her room. she finally told her mother. The truth
was that Hemera has actually been asked for her hand in marriage but she has
always denied them because she fell in love with her little brother, Aether who
was like Hemera in so many ways. They always liked each other but never
wanted to tell their parents. They always thought that their parents would be
ashamed of them but their parents were brother and sister too.
Aether and Hemera got married and now they are still similar to each
other. Aether is the god of light ad Hemera is the goddess of daylight or day.
But even after Hemera told her mother, Nyx was still mad at her because
Hemera never told her the truth about Aether. To this day, they are always mad
at each but still act nice to each other pretty often.
Just like the results of this fight, night and day are now separated. Nyx, the
goddess of night and Hemera, the goddess of day are separated but join
together for sunrise and sunset.
